I bought this to use in the bathroom so I wanted it to run on batteries. It stores easily (and flat) under the sink when not in use. I like that I can also use DC power if I move it to another area. It is a great size, not too small, not too big, and it does a good job of moving the air around as well. The on/off option is perfect for me. I don't need to fool with low/medium/high. The ability to adjust the angle or hang it is nice. Reading reviews, I learned from others to avoid frustration. Mainly, batteries: when you open the cover, you see space for 2, but you need to pull on the tab to realize that the unit holding the batteries pulls out and holds 4 batteries (2 in front and 2 in back). Also, the batteries need to be removed if you want to use the USB cord for DC power.

As long as you don't have unrealistic expectations, this fan may meet your needs perfectly. I needed a very small, highly portable fan to use around my classroom, as I suffer from excessive sweating. I understood that, generally, you can choose small and portable, or powerful, but not both. With that being said, this little guy works great for me. Fair warning though, you have to keep it fairly close to you to feel cool; when seated at my desk, I keep mine about a foot to a foot and a half away from me, and it cools me nicely. It operates either on battery power (4 AA's) or USB power. At my desk, I use USB power (my surge protector has four 5V 1A USB slots). When I unplug it, it switches to battery power. Now from what I understand it can go through batteries pretty quickly through prolonged use, but rechargeable AA's are inexpensive and easy to find. Finally, it's not excessively loud. At 1 foot away, it's perhaps slightly louder than when my laptop fan turns on. Overall, I'm perfectly satisfied with this little fan, and strongly recommend it for niche use, like at your desk or by your bed.

I love these so much. Between my menopausal hot flashes and my addiction to moving air, I need one near me at all times so I just ordered 4 more! They have a strong but not overwhelming airflow and are quiet with subtle white noise, no clanking metal blades. I often leave mine on when I walk away, but the motor has a long life lifespan. I've had one by my bed for over a year and it’s still good. They don’t pick up a lot of dust and fur (which we have in abundance!) The battery option is great when I don’t have access to an outlet (overnights away from home or visiting clients with no AC.) The ability to hang it is also a great feature. This is a no risk order if you need a personal fan or 10!

My dad's kinda cheap with the AC (he grew up poor and his dad didn't even have AC) so I gotta have something for me when I go visit. Little thing moves some air and keeps me cool enough to be able to sleep without waking up at night sweating. I also have some sleep issues and have to sleep at lunch in my car at work sometimes. As good as this at blowing, moving hot air around is about as effective as using a hair dryer. Still get to nap though.

I love love this. As for battery life if you forget it and it runs for hours the batteries won’t last. I bought it to circulate the air in the bathroom. With no air conditioner or window the bathroom the exhaust fan needed a boost. It sits on a shelf. The size is small and it’s quieter than I thought so unless you’re plug into the computer watch your battery.I’m happily enjoying it.

When considering a purchase on Amazon, I always read the negative reviews (assuming they exist) because I don't know of a reason someone would write a false bad review. I understand there might be favorable reviews that are absolutely fake. Anyway, in reading reviews, I've come to notice that some people writing the reviews are not paying attention to the product's instructions which means their bad rating isn't a good example of any type of rating. Case in point, someone reviewed a microwave I was thinking about ordering. They said it was turquoise and not stainless which was odd since the manufacturer doesn't make anything in turquoise. I saw the item in person at Target and noticed there was a thin plastic film protecting the shell of the unit - and of course, it was turquoise. Someone had peeled it at the corner to reveal the stainless housing as stated on the box. I mention this because I was at fault of thinking this fan was defective on arrival. It was not - it would just appear so if one didn't read the directions. Like many people, I tend to skip reading directions for simple items such as a fan. First off, I put in two batteries and then turned the fan on - nothing. I immediately remembered the many reviews noting the fan worked great with the plug, but it didn't work with batteries. Then I noticed a small strip of plastic in the battery compartment and could not figure out what it was for. Finally after pulling at it a bit, the whole battery cage dropped out of the fan! OK - it takes four batteries..duh! I insert two more batteries, put cage back into fan and turn the fan on - no go. All the batteries were brand new and I knew they worked. Finally, I looked at the instructions and it turns out that the adapter cord can NOT be inserted into the fan in order for it to work with batteries! Removing the cord allowed the fan to work with the batteries. And the plug allows the fan to work without batteries (the batteries can remain in the cage, of course). The fan was bought for travelling, but I like it so much that I also use it at home in the bathroom when it's hot. It's provides just enough flow to cool off when getting ready, keeping the a/c unit from being cranked up. When travelling, it works as a cooling system as well as a sound machine...love it!

If you have ever been tent camping on a hot muggy night with absolutely no breeze, you know that qualifies as advanced interrogation environment, right up there with water boarding. This may not be the air conditioning at the Motel 7 in town, but it makes all the difference between miserable and a reasonably pleasant experience of camping. Many of the larger fans require D size batteries. This one takes AA. I can afford to replace AA batteries after a couple nights use. D size batteries are expensive. I am going to look into a solar charger that will handle four AA batteries. Either that, or I can take four solar yard lights to re-charge the batteries during the day. I was skeptical how much air it would put out, but was pleasantly surprised that it made a reasonable breeze. It is rated at 3'. That's enough in a tent. The size is a plus for camping on a motorcycle instead of a motorhome.

We don't have an exhaust fan in our bathroom, so we needed a solution to at least circulate some air when someone's in the shower. Originally, I bought some off brand with excellent reviews. In 24 hours, that fan had stopped working, and was in the trash, and I ordered this one - a reliable brand name. 'Nuff said. It's simple and has two speeds...on and off. Can be adjusted to darn near any angle, and also hung from something, if that's more your style. Does what we need it to, and it works. Period.

This little fan has been a godsend. I strongly prefer sleeping with the air circulation and white noise of a fan or AC -- I have a tough time in total silence and stillness. Bought this because we frequently visit family members who have no fan in the room where we stay. I got a USB plug that lets me plug this into the wall. It doesn't create a lot of air flow, but I'm not really looking for strong flow or actual cooling...it provides some nice background noise and a light breeze if you keep it nearby. Small and easy to travel with...we keep it in the bedside table.

This fan literally is the best thing I have ever purchased on Amazon. I was really worried when I took a hospital tour when we were about to have our baby because it was crazyyy hot. I was worried that I would feel sick while in labor because I would be so hot so I looked for a small fan. This one was a great price and I thought I would give it a try. It worked perfect. It was nice to have on the hospital tray next to my bed and all the nurses commented on how cool it was. The battery life lasted and it really cools. If you are on the fence about this fan, just buy it! I love it! Such a great purchase.
