Don't Think Outside the 'Box
Otterbox is my go-to company for cell phone cases. Their Defender series has a hard plastic shell surrounded by a tough rubber skin, plus a built-in screen protector. I have never had any difficulty operating my phone with the Defender, unlike some other cases I've tried. It adds a small amount of bulk to the phone, but for me that's a small price to pay for the extra protection. I dropped my phone in the workshop today and the rubber skin made it bounce around a little. Otherwise, it was undamaged. Otterbox recommends re-calibrating your fingerprint ID after installing the phone in the case, but I did not find that necessary. The only minor drawback I've found with the Defender is that USB adapters and devices with unusually large plug ends will not fit in the USB port cutout. This includes the small USB connector that comes with the phone. However, the charging cable fits just fine and I normally use it for transferring files, etc. Another odd-sized device is the ACS smart card reader - it absolutely will not fit. Again, this is not a deal-breaker for me since I rarely use the card reader. It should be possible to rig up a cable/adapter combo that will eliminate this problem. The only improvement I can think of would be to add some type of shielding to the camera and rear LED area. It's left unprotected, presumably for clarity. Although the cutout is fairly deep I have found that things can still get in and cause problems. Overall, I'm totally happy with my Defender case. My phone seems OK with it, too.

It's Tough and will wearout before the phones.. ...
It's Tough and will wearout before the phones.. But the protection on the phones can't be beat. and at $700 or more per phone now. This was a no brainer.. OR this was Perfect AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A LOOSE FIT SHIELD... Yes you'll get a little dust under it. Clean it.. OR when you fall in the water with it take it apart and dry it out. At least all the spots you plug in will be dry and ready for a charge. My S7 has been underwater 3 times. The Case has been replaced once. or $20 case verses $700 phone. Dry connectors make a big difference.. AND we just ordered NEW S7 for our Son. Works with big Jet planes for a living. We ordered him this same case. He loves it. esp. after dropping it from a wing of a 747

Protects your stuff - very well
Protects my phone - heavy duty outer shell of a "softish" plastic w/the necessary port covers that fold out, and the required holes that allow the sensors/microphone to work. Screen protector, integrated inner shell... I've had Otterboxen for many, many years for my devices. One or two issues over the years where something broke - Otterbox handled it with aplomb which is why I continue to buy them. In the interim, they protect my stuff - very well. Always happy with their stuff.

The most expensive of all...
This is the most expensive version of all Otter Box cases but definitely worth the price. This is like a special edition where they put their everything into this one case - best materials, brightest colors, everything. I've always gotten the black version because it's about 5 bucks cheaper. And to be honest, this case actually looks much better in real life. The orange is really bright and combines really well with the black trims and camouflage design to create an elegant look. This case is definitely worth the price. Note: I had gotten the black defender series for my phone prior to buying this one, and the black one disappointed me so much (belt clip broke off in a matter of weeks, rubber covers for headphones and charging ports wouldn't stay in place anymore etc) that I was looking for another brand, but none came with a belt clip (which is crucial for me). Of all the big names out there, only the unicorn beetle had belt clip but I wasn't convinced that it could match up to the quality of the otters although many reviews said the beetles are better. I've never seen a Unicorn beetle case in real life but I would love to hold it in my hands so I could judge for myself. But I won't risk buying one for myself and then regret that I didn't go with the Otter Box lol. So yeah anyway, when I couldn't find a better option, I turned back to Otter Box and said "I'll give them a last chance, and if they don't fulfill this time I swear I'm never buying an Otter Box again!" Well, I think you know the end of that story lol. Just look at the 5 stars I gave them...

OtterBox Defender - Simply the best.
Both my son and I have the OtterBox Defender for our Galaxy S7's and couldn't be happier. This version has a slight improvement over the one for the S5 (we skipped the S6) in that, the rubber backing wraps and snaps into a groove for a tighter/snug fit. It takes a little finagling to get it on, but once it is, it's golden. Now, whether or not the middle of it will begin to "lift" (stretch?) remains to be seen, though my son has 6 rough months of use on his and it is still perfect. I suspect I'll experience the same results he is.

Virtually indestructable
This is a replacement for my previous Otterbox defender, which I have used nonstop for THREE years. My phone is still pristine, and the only problem I had was that the back of the protector finally got a little worn out around the camera hole. The rubber started to separate from the carbonite plastic, just a little bit around the edges. Tried a little crazy glue. I might have milked a little more out of this baby, but the screen protector was getting slightly foggy anyway, so splurged for $20 to get a clearer screen. I am the original Samsonite gorilla and I can't sing the praises of the Otterbox defender enough. Attached is a pic of the OLD Otterbox after three years of my abuse, showing the back and the screen protector. Well done, Otterbox

Like a suit of armor for your phone
Whoever came up with this concept is a genius! This protective case has already paid for itself 4 times over. My phone has fallen on cement, rocks, a boardwalk and a sidewalk. I remember the first time how my heart sank when I watched my $700 phone skitter away from me as I accidentally kicked it after dropping it on the cement. Not only was my phone protected, but I can't even see a scuff mark on the case where it took the hit! Because the case does not fully enclose your phone it is not waterproof, and some dust, dirt or sand can still find its way in. But it is easy to take apart, clean out and put back together in a matter of a minute. Unlike other reviewers, I have had no problem whatsoever with being able to access all the touchscreen functions through the screen protector - perhaps they need to heighten their touch sensitivity settings? This case's true value is the protection you get when you drop your phone. For that, it's worth its weight in gold.

Cant go wrong with the OB Defender.
Just bought this case in gunmetal/slate grey for my new S7. I have used the Defender on S2, S5, S6 phones. The fit/finish on the S7 is great, no out-of-box issues some have had at all. I'm in construction [GC] so I fully expect that the case will show signs of wear at some point [usually about a year] unless I drop it a lot! I have NEVER lost a phone that was in a Defender case. I also dont expect this case to be 'dust' proof, its called going home after work and wiping the damn thing down; sometimes that means taking the case apart and wiping off with a soft rag [I use old cotton under shirts]. I'm exposed to saw dust od all types, drywall dust, thin set mortar dust...you name it. That crap will always find its way into your case. If you are that worried put it in a zip-bag every day when you get to work! I know a few exteriors guys that do for that very reason...also keeps the weather out! Nonheless everyone has their opinions and that's fine, no hating here. Sure its a lot more bulk than what many of you cube-farm workers need. One weekends and my off-time when I'm not in a high risk environment to my phone I like to use a lighter case, for this phone I choose the Magpul Field case in OD Green. WOW! super case [made in USA!] Too bad they dont make one with screen protection

If your phone is important, get one of these
These cases are so robust. Sure, they're a little big and they bulge a bit in your pocket but if your smartphone is critical to your home or work, you really need it. I've dropped my phone several times, some of them from pretty good heights onto concrete and these cases just shrug off the impact. The built-in screen protector actually protects your screen with no bubbles and getting it on crooked like the protective films. And if you get some dirt underneath it, just pop your phone out of the case, clean off the phone and the case, reinstall, and you're good to go. The edge of the case is knurled so you don't feel like you are likely to drop it - it feels very secure. For my work, I use the supplied belt clip so access to my phone is instant when I need it. When wearing jeans that are on the tight side, the belt clip is nice. It is so easy to struggle getting an unprotected phone out of tight jeans and then have it slip out of your hand. This case eliminates the risk.

Drop test? How about 70 mph drop test
During a recent road trip to the Grand Canyon my first OtterBox was put to an extreme test. I ride motorcycles and my phone sits in a slot at the windscreen. Heading east out of Flagstaff, anyone whos been there knows when I say the potholes 20 miles east and west of Flagstaff far outnumber the actual good asphault, try as you might, theres no dodging them all. Well, i caught a good one, my phone seemed to levitate infront of me, I touch it twice before it dissappered down the side of my gas tank, At 70 mph! The riders behind me say they watched it spinning and tumbling and slamming into the asphault, they stopped within a few hundred yards of where it left the road, I sat mourning the loss of 1000s of photos, a quarter mile up the road. Five minutes later they came rolling up the shoulder, my Brother inlaw got off his bike and said, "We found all the pieces" reached in his bag and handed me the phone. First thing i notice is a crack across the entire face, then I realize the crack is in the Otterbox screen. I hit the on button and my phone lights up, thats was around May 9th, I still have that phone, and it has NO ISSUES. Drop Test My A--, how many phone protectors can say Drop Tested at 70 mph! The included photo was taken with that phone, an hour later! Gladly purchased a new Otterbox when i got home. QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY
