First off, I have a beard that could stop a lawn mower. It grows in several directions. In college I won the beard-growing contest in a dormitory that housed 900 men. I've been shaving for decades and have tried all brands of blade (inconsistent and messy), rotary (ouch!), and foil (my fave). Nothing has worked better than this $60 Braun. I've owned shavers costing several times as much - and they didn't perform any better. All the snazzy features on more expensive units are just noise. Swiveling heads that don't allow you any leverage, messy cleaning systems, etc. Save your money and keep it simple. It's just a shave, for crying out loud! At this price, what have you got to lose? If you've always used a razor and want to try an electric, here's a cost-effective chance to give it a try.

One of the best shavers i have purchased ever! Great quality and shave is so smooth. Love that i can use it wet or dry. I have used both rotary and foil. I use the rotary on my bald head and prefer foil on my face. Rotarys get damaged much less easier than the foils, but foils are much better shave. I have tried shaving with regular razor and cream, i dont understand how anyone can waste their time doing that, along with the cost and the mess. Try it for 2 or 3 weeks, you will never go back.

I've used a number of different electric razors previously from all of the brand name manufacturers. I bought this razor on sale to replace a Norelco rotary razor that wasn't cutting that efficiently anymore. Having used different electric razors before I was aware that there would be an adjustment period before I could really tell how well it worked. As expected the first shave was ok but not very close with some missed areas. I continued to use it for the rest of the week and by the end of the week I was getting a close smooth shave fairly quickly without having to go over the same area multiple times. The razor is easy to hold and to use. The battery lasts for a while before requiring recharging. The razor is fairly quiet as well. One of the features that I like best (other than the close shave) is that its very easy to clean. You just remove the cutting head, tap out the hair and wash it under the faucet. A quick brush out of the area under the cutting head and you're done. There are no areas under the cleaning head for hair to hide making the brush out fast and easy and shows a well thought out design. This is a vast improvement over the Norelco heads which have to be taken apart and cleaned every month. You are supposed to be able to clean the Norelco heads under the sink as well but in my experience it doesn't really work that well. I like the battery indicator on the body and it charges fairly quickly. I don't wet shave with electric razors so I can't comment on how well that works. The razor seems to be of good quality which I would expect from Braun. I would definitely recommend this razor.

SO SO happy with this! Seriously. My boyfriend has a babyface, so although he can't grow a full fledged beard, he still gets "scruff" only it looks awful. Patchy and just not cute, which means I always harass him to shave. He's the definition of a lazy boy and hates getting out his razor and shaving cream and taking the time to do it, so I had been researching electric razors for awhile. Anywho.. Things kept happening (life) and I kept not finding the funds/justification to blow $150 on an electric razor. Even the best ones reviewed that were "under $100" were still basically $100 and it just wasn't worth it. Then I came across a review on this one, and it's a $70 razor normally but with amazon prime it's only $45! SOLD. Read a ton of reviews, and majority were positive. Even the people with some negative reviews still said for the price it was worth it. I figured if my boyfriend hated it we could return it since Amazon is awesome about that. It was my early V-day gift for him and he LOVES it! It gets such a close shave and appeals to his lazy side because he just has to flip the switch and it takes him all of two seconds to have a baby smooth face again. Might have been more of a gift for me but happy he enjoys too :)

This Braun cordless rechargeable shaver comes with its charger, head guard, a cleaning brush and instruction manual. It doesn't come with a charging stand but you don't need one. I plug the charger directly into the razor after about a week's worth of shaves, lay the shaver down on the counter next to the bathroom sink and it's fully charged by the next morning. Cleaning is a breeze. Just pull the cutting head outward and the whole assembly slides off. I tap its open bottom side gently against the sink and the hairs fall right out. Then, I run the brush over the foil surfaces and drive mechanism in the razor and just blow the residue out. It's a huge improvement over my dad's old Sunbeam - man, that really dates me! I just wish the charger had a longer cord. It's only about a foot long and you'll probably need an extension cord. You can use water and shaving cream with this razor but I prefer to use it dry - after all, what's the point? I thought we use an electric razor to skip that extra hassle; but that's just me!

I haven’t been this satisfied with a product purchase in a very long time, but I am absolutely loving my Braun 3040s! I haven’t used an electric razor in nearly twenty years. I’m 37 now, and for the last several years I used a double-edged safety razor. I loved the connection to the past that that provided and I do think it provides a better shave than the modern multi-blade cartridge razors, but even after years of trying I could never quite perfect my shave. I was often left with irritated skin and cuts. So almost on a whim I thought I’d try an electric shaver again. I looked around at the various products on the market and read lots of reviews. I didn’t want to spend a lot money because I didn’t know whether or not I would like shaving with an electric. I ultimately decided on the 3040s. I’ve only been using it for just over a week, but I already love the shave I’m getting and I’m shaving every day. I found the wetshaving experience so unpleasant that I only did it once per week most of the time! Every man’s facial hair is different, so your mileage may vary. Mine’s pretty coarse, particularly on my neck. I wouldn’t say I’m really saving any time with the Braun versus my old wetshaving system. I’d say to get a shave that’s close enough for my satisfaction I have to spent 10 to 12 minutes. But I actually kind of enjoy the process and I certainly appreciate that I’m not left with any cuts. Afterward I wash my face and apply a Nivea aftershave. This razor can be used wet with shaving cream or gel, but I’ve seen no reason to do that. Dry shaving works great for me. I’m sure the more expensive Braun shavers do an even better job, but for now I’m quite satisfied with my 3040s and I even wrote the company to say so. I’m that pleased.

Without a doubt this is the best darn electric shaver I’ve ever used! And I’ve had Braun’s before, and at same sort of price point. I was just beside myself with excitement with the close but more importantly quick shave it gave me. And equally thrilled every morning I use it - and I know that sounds a little over the top, but that’s actually the way I feel about this particular shaver. Also, make sure you get this model with the trimmer, even the trimmer is better than it used to be on the other models.

Have used this product for about a month now. Shaves very close on my face and man parts. Love that I can clean by rinsing under faucet. I use it for 1 week, then separate blade cartridge and main body and wash both under sink faucet, let dry over nite, re-attach blade cartridge to main body, and then apply a few drops of oil to blade cartridge foils and run shaver for a few seconds. So far so good. My last shaver was a higher end Braun model that lasted for 15 years. It had the cleaning/charging station. I went online and learned how to refill the cleaning cartridges on my own so I did not have to keep buying them. As this is a lower end Braun shaver if I can get 5 years from it I will be happy. Only time will tell.

I have been using an electric for over 20 years. Other than touch-ups with a battery operated travel razor, those have all been Panasonic. I bought the top of the line Panasonic a couple of years ago for about $169.00 figuring it was the next generation, better, etc. Wrong. It was the same as the old one with a different head. That head was so big it was actually difficult to shave the tight spots (under nose, around ears, etc.). It used the same motor as the old old one to power several more blades and, therefore, seemed under powered. Anyways, I decided to simplify and bought this Braun as a trial. Wow. Quick, comfortable, close shave. The foils / blades are of a different configuration than Panasonic and require far less pressure for what is a better shave. And the price simply can not be beat. Like any change in shaving device, it takes a few days for your beard to adapt. But that period was shorter with this razor for me. It is worth it.

I have had Remington electrics, because they have always given me a razor-smooth shave, because they are relatively inexpensive, and they have been very durable (lasts for years and years). Decided to try a Braun, based on the reviews. This Braun is excellent! The shave is every bit as good as the Remingtons. The battery life isn't quite as long, but the battery life is still very good. Grey hairs are harder to shave, but the Braun does an excellent (better) job with them in the harder to shave areas. Very quiet, too!
