All stainless steel interior kettle --no plastic or silicon touching water!
We had the Aroma/ Brentwood electric kettles for 8 years or so now. And I always disliked the plastic water level window that the water touched in those but liked the design. My last aroma just gave out. And the search was on. I wanted no more plastic and didn't like the glass with silicone adhesives. I thought I may have to return to kettle for stove but really wanted electric plug-in with auto shutoff. It took me a long time to find this stainless steel kettle, with no plastic or silicon touching water. I almost gave up that it didn't exist. Initially because this one looked so big I disregarded it, and moved on searching but after reading the specs it actually is the same liters as the aroma -- 1.7 liters. At first unpacking, visually it did seemed overly large compared to previous Aroma pots. But we quickly got used to it and it doesn't seem so out of place anymore. I like the black exterior actually over the stainless now. It is easy to lift and pour, with the bonus that you can touch the sides as well for balance if needed. The handle is comfortable. The double wall really does keep the water hot for much longer. Easy access to the interior for filling, cleaning & wiping out. It sits on the electric base very snug. No wobbling at all. Well Done. *** UPDATE *** 12/21/2017 Kettle is still going great. I have had no issues.

Do you make pour-over coffee, a lot of sturdy tea, or use boiling water in your cooking?
I wanted to use this kettle for a while before writing a review, and I realized today that we'd had it for over a year now, so it's time. All I can say is - as a drinker of teas that are generally okay to brew in boiling water - this kettle is wonderful. My husband decided he didn't like the quality of the coffee coming out of his Keurig, and we decided to give the Oxo Single Serve Pour Over Coffee maker a try. Since that is a relatively simple set-up for pour over, my husband fell in love with it, and the Keurig was sent off to a friend who wanted one. Since that required boiling water and my husband wasn't patient with a stove-top kettle - and we finally had some counter room - I decided to go with an electric kettle. While the glass ones seem to be popular, I just wanted something sturdy, fast, safe, and simple. This kettle absolutely fits the bill in all respects. Up to the fill line, this takes maybe 7 minutes to boil up - there's plenty of water for my husband to make a morning cup of coffee and me to make a smaller pot of tea. There is only the one simple lever/button to turn it on and off - so no fussy settings - and it does turn itself off automatically when the water has hit full boil. It is a little awkward to clean as the lid does not detach - and hard-water marks happened pretty quickly on the inside - but a little Bar Keeper's Friend keeps up with that just fine. After a year, I'm not seeing any rusting (though I am pretty religious about unplugging the base and opening the top to let the water cool when we're done). As I was using a stainless steel kettle on my stove for years, I do not notice anything particularly off about the taste of the water, either. And while maybe it's not as decorative as the pretty glass pots, it's not unattractive (and certainly smaller and sleeker than my husband's old huge Keurig). If I need to boil water for cooking - I have cake recipes that call for boiling water stirred in at the end or I tend to use bouillon concentrates - it takes very little time at all, so I don't need to worry that the water won't be boiled and I'm waiting on a step. The only down-side I would say is that if you are very particular about the temperature of your water, this kettle lacks that preciseness. So if you drink some of the more delicate teas that require lower temperatures, this kettle probably isn't for you. I mean, you could always play it by ear - it's easy enough to stop the cycle by turning the kettle off, and you start to recognize the sounds after a while - but it's not precise. Over all, though? Very pleased with our purchase one year in. It still appears to be going strong, I love no longer having to park a tea kettle on my stove 100% of the time, and it's also much faster than the range.

Plastic free!
This water heater is the the perfect choice if your priority is to minimize plastic use. I have searched high and low, reading way too many reviews of way too many different electric water kettles. Let me summarize for you: generally the great divide in people's preferences are: 1. those who want fast heating; 2. those who want to see how much water is in the kettle; 3. those who want zero plastic touching water. If you want #1 and 3, this is the kettle for you. I'm not sure why #2 is that important, but if it irks you to not know exactly how much water is being heated, this kettle is not for you. In spring 2018, the American Academy of Pediatrics released a recommendation to minimize plastic use for children's food containers (baby bottle, plates, bowls), based on a study that showed that in high heat conditions such as dish washer and microwave, even BPA free plastic will release chemicals into its contents. Don't wait for scientists to prove that it's bad to use plastics when heating up things. Most of the kettles out there have some plastic component touching the water, be it the window that tell you how much water is inside, the lid, or even the filter at the spout. This is one of very few that I found to be plastic free in all parts that come in contact with the water you are drinking. If you think I'm crazy, that's fine. My husband, who probably thinks I'm crazy in my commitment to live plastic-free, but tolerates my insanity, also likes this kettle, because it looks nice, and does a fine job heating up water, does so quickly and safety with its automatic shut off feature. So go ahead and buy this, you'll like it. Except if you just can't stand having heated slightly too much or too little water. Or you know, you could use a measuring cup to put in the exact amount of water you want. There, problem solved, and this is still the perfect kettle. If you found my review helpful, please click below, thanks!

Nice features that make a difference.
This is a replacement for a stainless steel, single wall kettle that did a fine job but had issues that this one does not. The out side of this is cool to the touch. It does not melt bread bags that might come into contact with it on the counter. It has a large capacity of of 1.7L. It keeps the water hot so your second cup does not take long to heat. The interior is stainless steel and smooth with no heating element or places for mineral deposits to form around. Unlike my old kettle, there is no removable mesh screen on the spout inside, it is all one peice. This kettle does makes noise as it comes to boil (just like any I have used) and there is a gentle chime as the button pops up and shuts off automatically. Great feature of auto shut off. I bought one of these previously for my college bound kid. This is my second purchase.

Holds up well.
I don’t often feel beholden to write product reviews, but I’ve used this thing every day for nearly two years now and it’s held up well. It’s huge so I can quickly boil up water for cooking, or boil just the right amount for my morning tea. I also like that the lid flips open and you can easily clean it out! Better yet, as soon as you’re finished with it, pour the remaining hot water out, open the lid and just let it set. The remaining hot water will evaporate quickly and leave it clean. Thus, no mildew or other yuck has a chance. Can’t do that with most other kettles. Final good point: it’s only metal touching the water, no plastics being heated and cooled during the boil.

100% All-Stainless Steel Interior, including the Lid and Pour Spout!
I have searched far and wide over the years for the holy grail of electric kettles: a 100% all-stainless steel interior. I first began with a Hamilton Beach 40898, which I thought had a stainless steel interior except I discovered that the inside of the lid was plastic. I have researched over 3-4 dozen models and this is only one of two models that I've found that not only has stainless steel in the bottom portion which is in contact with the boiling water, but also the inside of the top lid. Practically all the electric kettles on the market claim to have a "stainless steel interior," yet neglect to mention about a plastic lid. Although that lid is not in direct contact with the boiling water, the steam that rises will condensate on the lid and then drip back down into your water. In my perspective, indirect contact is equivalent to direct contact. Although manufacturers claim that any plastic that they use is "BPA-free," they fail to mention that plastic contains other components that have even more detrimental synthetic estrogenic effects than BPA. I believe that hot steam coming into contact with the plastic everyday for years will degrade the plastic material and result in "leakage". The Secura pour spout also is all steel and has a little steel lip to prevent any water coming into contact with the plastic exterior housing. The other model I've found that has an all-stainless steel interior is designed by Precise Heat. I prefer the Secura for these reasons: -Double-wall construction keeps the boiled water hot longer. Also exterior is cool to the touch. -Secura feels more robust. -Uses British Strix control to conserve energy when reheating already hot or warm water. It's hard for me to allocate time to write Amazon reviews, but I took the time because I love my Secura kettle so much. With the cold winter weather, I find myself using my Secura kettle 3+ times per day. My only suggestion for this item is to offer a model with all stainless exterior as well, although the black exterior is not half bad. In kettle news, I was very excited to hear about the new OXO On Cordless Glass Electric Kettle. The see-through glass container with all stainless steel seemed to be the perfect marriage of design, function, and safety. Alas, after doing some further digging, contacting OXO, I was informed that it has silicone seals in the bottom and a plastic inner lid on top. By the way, silicone has also not been proven to be 100% safe for human consumption as some types of silicone could contain siloxane compounds that may cause adverse reproductive, neurological, and immune effects.

An Upgrade from the Traditional Electric Kettle, a Quantum Leap From the Stovetop Kettle
First off, if you are a kettle-on-the-stove person, this product will change your life. I was one of those people, and once I purchased an electric kettle, I could not believe on what I was missing out on. And all my luck, I happened to purchase one of the best electric kettles on Amazon. The Secura Stainless Steel Kettle stays true to it's name and provides boiling water with no plastic touching the hot water at every process. The water boils within minutes and switches off automatically when finished. The power cord wraps neatly underneath the base of the kettle, so you can use the amount of cord you need to reach the outlet with no excess cord laying about. If you are using unfiltered/tap water, mineral buildup can accumulate on the bottom over a few months time that cannot be scrubbed out by regular soap, so I (and Secura's owners manual) suggest you use Barkeeper's Friend periodically to clean it off and make it look brand new. A couple things I would improve on this product is the power-on switch. It feels somewhat flimsy and looks unstylish, especially with the dim indicator light on the switch. I would rather have a robust, metal switch with an LED indicator light. Additionally, the base slips around a lot when the kettle is not weighing it down, so I think an anti-slip rubber would be an improvement underneath the base. My suggestions are merely minor improvements, and this product is about as close to perfect as you are going to get in your search for electric kettles. Do me a favor, and please upgrade from that grimey stovetop kettle with a barely functioning whistle you have (you remember that it's on, right?)

Superb, straightforward, plastic-free way to boil water!
I spent nearly two months trying to find a kettle that didn't have _any_ plastic inside in contact with the water. I read many dozens of online reviews and forums, and nothing quite made the cut. I wanted a glass or ceramic interior, because they're inert and won't flavor or contaminate the water, but that proved impossible; I decided stainless steel was a good alternative. (I'd been using a Le Creuset for the past 10 years but can no longer remove the scale from the inside and needed a replacement.) This kettle works beautifully and it's completely nontoxic, as the water contacts nothing but stainless inside. Note that some people have worried about a small circular hole at the top beneath the lid -- this is there so that the lid can close. When you're boiling water, that hole is completely blocked by the thickness of the lid as it closes; the interior of the lid is the same stainless steel as the rest of the interior. There is thus NO plastic that can be contacted by water or steam in this kettle. (See photos. The first shows the hole just beneath the rim, and the second shows that the thickness of the metal in the lid will completely block that hole.) I've been using the kettle multiple times per day and it works simply and beautifully. It boils water quickly, and it shuts off by itself once it's reached the boil. For those of you considering a kettle with temperature settings: (1) testing of such kettles indicates that most of them are off the desired temperature by as much as 10 degrees, defeating the purpose of setting it at different temps for different teas; and (2) I have a ThermoPop thermometer (not available through amazon, alas) and another less fancy one, and both of them indicate that once you pour the water out of the kettle, the temperature drops really quickly. If I pour into an open cup, the temp falls to ~180-185 degrees as soon as I've stopped pouring; the temp remains a bit higher in a closed teapot (and will differ depending on whether the teapot is glass, ceramic, or metal). So I'm not sure that even an accurate temp gauge on a kettle would be that useful.

Safe & efficient, for quick hot water!
I've been using this product for about a month now. I can't find anything not to like! -- It's great to be able to pick up a pot of boiling water and have the exterior be cool to the touch. It does NOT drip down the sides; easy pour. No over-spill from spout. It heats water quickly & efficiently. It is easy to fill, either on the counter or at the sink. -- I would buy this again in an instant! Definitely recommend: great quality for the price paid. (Everything about it is "better" than my old hot water pot!)

Good quality kettle, Subtle design
I was looking for a kettle to prepare coffee and tea, and this fit the bill quite nicely. Originally I was looking for a variable temperature model, but after looking at the limited offerings and their quality, this Secura kettle looked like a better fit. It boils water quickly, and keeps it around boiling for a minute or two then powers off. It's just the right amount of time for me to set up my french press and coffee grounds while it boils. Lifting the kettle bumps the switch to off so it doesn't start up again after it is set on the base again. Minimum capacity is 2 cups or 16 ounces, which comes out to a well-sized coffee mug for me. Outside stays cold-warm unless it's used more than two times in a row which would be unusual outside of the first-time use prep. Ease of use is great, with only one switch with a light and a button on top to raise the lid. The interior is all stainless steel, though after the first-time use prep I did find the markings other reviewers have seen appear at the bottom. The base comes with only one rubber foot, which I ended up replacing for three rubber pads affixed to the plastic on the bottom. The power chord also wraps around nicely inside/under the base. The finish is glossy black, but not too shiny and it fits quite nicely next to the black/stainless oven range. After a month of steady usage it still looks as good as new and no rust buildup. Of course never store this wet, as that would promote oxidation.
