LOVE these knives!! They are SO much sharper than the top of the line Chicago Cutlery I had previously. I also went to Kohl's & tried every other knife brand including Calphon & Cuisinart and aside from Henckels, these were the sharpest knives & best set offered.

We love this set of knives! They are sharp and, yes, you do have to make sure you pull them through the stones inside the block when you take them out or slide them back in but they are staying sharp. I almost never give anything 5 stars as I think most things can be improved upon. I am totally happy with these knives. Worth the money, in my opinion.

I love these knives! They stay very sharp, there heavy but very easy and comfortable to use!!

BUYER: Please know what you are buying and NOT buying... You are NOT buying an impervious, undamagable stainless steel knife. Even stainless steel silverware will spot and discolor. An expensive Shun Knife, like these Calphalon knives, is also made from carbon steel—but with the Shun knife the blade is imixed with stainless steel for a higher quality metal amalgamation. It is the softer carbon steel that allows the knife blade to be honed to a sharp edge, yet will discolor, pit and rust. A less expensive Calphalon Knife is also made of carbon steel, amalgamated with “No stain steel” —likely a lesser quality of steel, hence the affordable price. The carbon steel in both knives is likely to stain and rust IF YOU DO NOT TAKE CARE OF THEM PROMPTLY AFTER USING!!! 1. NEVER PUT IN DISHWASHER: The strong DW detergent will literally “eat” the thin sharp edge of the knife, making it jagged. In the DW water sits on the knife blade, discoloring it and eventually rusting it. The dryer in your DW just can’t dry it quickly enough. 2. Wash and dry you knife well and immediately after each use: Especially dry the blade near the handle. Do not allow acidic foods, juices to sit on the blades— again, it will discolor and rust the soft carbon steel component in the blade. 3. Please don’t ruin the sharp edge on the blade by using the blade itself to scrape food off your cutting board— use the BACK SIDE of the knife to scrape food from your cutting board. 4. Use the right kind of cutting board— preferably plastic— not your granite countertop, or your ceramic dishes, or glass— it will ruin your knife edge, making it harder and harder to restore the sharp edge you had on your knife after first buying it. If these simple rules are followed, your knives will perform flawlessly for you— take an online tutorial— and last a long time. A knife that has been inadvertently put in the dishwasher and now has a jagged, pitted edge can be taken to a good, professional knife sharpener who can remove the jagged edge—albeit with the loss of some of the blade— and restore the sharp edge. In this Calphon Knife Set, they have, to a degree, idiot proofed the sharpening care of the knife, a great advantage for fast- paced living and cooking!

We have had these knives and used them a few weeks. I just thought my old knives were sharp! They weren't but these cut effortlessly. It actually took getting used to and I've about cut myself a few times! I love how they are so light weight. The sharpener is nice as the knives seem to get sharper with each use. The scissors have been very handy. I've never had specific kitchen scissors just used a pair of generic scissors all the time. Big difference! I definitely recommend! The steak knives are good. They are Very thin so I think they may need tlc, but I just plan to cut meat with them so that shouldn't be an issue.

My dear Uncle Chris and I would watch the commercial of the little men working inside the knife block working the gears to sharpen the blades. He was fascinated and gifted me this Cutlery Knife Block Set for Christmas. I love it and think of him every time that I use one of the 15 pieces in this set.

As a college student, I got used to living the cheap life. $25 Costco knife sets can be just as good as the real deal, right? I lived in my world of alternative facts, head buried in the sand like an ostrich avoiding eye contact with its crush. I kept believing my knives were just fine and that it was all the potato's fault my knife wasn't cutting anything. Darn organic potatoes are harder to cut than those normal potatoes because of the cage free lifestyle, obviously. Well, my head finally came out of the sand when I gifted myself this Calphalon knife set. This must have been the knife set Mickey Mouse used to cut his bread so thin. The self-sharpening block keeps the knives sharper than my grandfather's wit. I am absolutely thrilled with how well this knife set works! Get your head out of the sand and start dominating your food as nature intended!

This is my first real knife set. My last set was from Big Lots and was terrible. I love this set, but wish the last slot was not empty, but I can purchase another knife to fill. Knives are sharp and easy to clean. I clean and dry right away and have not had any issues with rust on the blades.

I had the Walmart Kitchen Aid cheep crap knife set that had a hard time cutting through butter 3 months after I got them Finally gave myself permission to order quality. OMG, I had to cut up some chicken for dinner.....didn't have to press down hard, cut the meat clean and easy. The big knives have a self-sharpening stone when you place them back in their holding area that sharpens the knife as you slide it back in! Love these knives, high quality product! JP

I really liked the over all feel of these knives. The handles have labeling for the chef, paring, Santuko, and utility knives. It takes the guess work out of it. You can hear the sharpening happening after every pull of the knife. It keeps a decent edge. I keep a honing steel on hand but the sharpening does work! The only thing that I was dispointed was that the 8 inch bread knife was not included so you just have a missing knife in an open slot. It only bothers what little OCD I have. Anyway great set for any beginner or everyday use.
