Mo Big Powah....
This amp is Mega-Awesome. I have mine powering 2 pairs of speakers (4 ohms), so I can get a potential of 1500 watts from this beast. It sounds great, super quiet. The fan isn't even on until it detects heat, so for moderate volumes, it's silent. And speaking of quiet. Most amps, when you power them up, you can hear a slight tweeter sizzle, very low, but evident. This amp has virtually NO sign of sizzle. So Quiet! Powering up brings in 2 loud relay clicks, but that's normal, and only happens at power up. Using the built in DSP functions allows you to configure the amp to stereo or bridged mono. Also, there are settings for high pass or low pass filtering and the ability to set the crossover point. The lowest point being 30 hz, the highest being 3Khz (or so the manual says, I haven't checked personally). I have my crossover set to high pass at 80hz. I have a companion XLS 2500 set to power 4 subwoofers, and its crossover is set to low pass at 80hz. The sound I'm getting from this setup is incredible. Purchasing this amp will bring you happiness.

style: l525 watts power
style: l525 watts power We purchased the Crown XLS1502 to power the front speakers of our HT system. The receiver is an Onkyo TX-RZ810 unit, rated at 130W into 8 ohms, the front speakers are AR9, the sides and rears are AR91, with a NHT center channel. The AR speakers put a hefty load on the system. The Crown XLS1502 driving the front speakers removed the stress from the Onkyo and allowed the big power hungry amplifier unfriendly AR9 speakers to shine. There is no hiss coming thru the speakers with the receiver off and amplifier on. The XLS1502 is set on the .775V input sensitivity, with the level controls set just above 3:00 based on listening with channel of the Crown powering one front speaker, and the Onkyo powering the other front speaker at moderately low sound levels. After the XLS1502 was fully integrated into the system, the Onkyo's level calibration routine was run again to automatically fine tune the system. This amp is super quiet! Powering 6 ohm Martin Logan electrostatic speakers ...
Wow! Bought this to add more umph to my home theater front speakers. My concern was introducing any extra noise at low listening levels. This amp is super quiet! Powering 6 ohm Martin Logan electrostatic speakers with no issues whatsoever. The increased headroom (from 100 wpc to 400) really makes the bass shine in this sot-so-bassy speakers. Love that the front panel lights can all be turned off. I simply cannot hear the fan running whatsoever. You won't be disappointed!

Awesome for the price
Very quiet, light and not running hot at all. I added amp to receiver pre-outs to power left and right front towers. Sound is the same as my Marantz AVR. Bass from front towers is a bit deeper compare to the Marantz. The high frequencies seem a bit harsh (not to the point that you will have listening fatigue) compare to my Mark Levinson mono amps, but my MLs are $10K and Crown is only $500 (They both made by HK).

My XLS is so quiet that I have no idea what is going on inside it. Blue lights and magic.
For my living-room theater I purchased 5 xls models: Two xls 2502 for two front and one center speakers, three xls 1502 for surround + atmos speakers, all Martin logan 4ohm speakers. ML EDGE for Front and Center and motions FX for surrounds and atmos. All running from a Yamaha CX-A5200 pre for a 5.2.4 set, and it sound awesome, previous setup was a rotel class D but crown and Yamaha has blown me away. Like: Absoluut no sweat with the 4 Ohm ML speakers, gain is set on 12o'clock and stays as cool as the Rotel RMB 1575 (5*250W, 8 Ohm), even in our tropical climate, with an average day temp of at 90F and evening temp at 80-82F and without AC on. The average internal temp, readable via the display, is 110F to 114F, and fan runs quiet. Only for the front speaker amp the XLS 2502 fan sometimes comes on and runs for about 30-45 seconds and then keeps quiet. - Very light amp, Weight 10.8 lbs. for the XLS 2502 - XLR and RCA inputs - Remote power trigger but not direct compatible with standard 12V triggers. I have not figured out how it works, but I use a APC surge protector, G5BLK 9-Outlet G-Type 15-Amp Rack-Mountable Power Conditioner with delay, If this APC product had 12V in and out triggers it would be a world beater in the home audio market at this price point. - Display can be shut off or on delayed sleep - Selectable input sensitivity; 1.4Vrms for XLR and .775Vrms for RCA connections, so if your receiver has only RCA outputs like a Yamaha 3080/3070/3060/3050 en so on you will be fine. - Looks, let me explain. First I was checking out the QCS PLD4.5 Series, as they are 4channel amps in order to reduce the number of amps, but they were silver dominant and this did not entirely fit with the look of the Yamaha 'black' amp and I tried to keep the look for living room consistent as I like to keep my equipment visible from the seating position. - All lights can be shut off so no annoying lights when enjoying your movie, but the wife likes blue crowns lights so I bought three other XLS units for the surround speakers - XLS 1502/2502 have a lower noise floor then the xls 1002 unit, that why I chose the upper models - Bridgeable mode: 2500W 4ohm or 1200W 8Ohm, I use bridge mode for the center speaker, I seams like a lot of headroom, but if it is possible why not. - Detachable 6 ft heavy power-cord, looks like a computer cord, but is heavier, this should be a little longer. Story why Crown poweramps and not: the Yamaha associated amplifier: The Yamaha MX-A5200 with 11ch. was simply too large and reading from reviews will get hot and has significant lower output. Pricewise was it almost the same as the 5 XLS's For the crowns, I was afraid of the hum or noise since my previous amp was a dead quiet Rotel combination rsp 1570 + rmb 1575, which was in use rocksolid for more than 10 years, but I went for crown as the reviews on amazon and on avsforum and more were very positive, it feels like the crown has more control of the Martin Logans vs the Rotel, this is my opinion and find it hard to find the correct 'audio' wording for this. The fan runs all the time, but, you need to keep your ear very close to the amp in order to hear them.

Not bad
This amp was a replacement for a xls 2500i like the added display options for tempature gota give it more points for style than last model the biger and better capactor banke and the better case ventilation is definitely a plus I don't understand why there wasn't bigger heatsinks added there is plenty of room they also probably improved the heatsink compound formula from the last generation as the 2500 ran alot cooler after switching over to artic silver mx4 this one only a couple of degrees also adding some heat pipes better each heat sink would even out the temperatures as the r/l channels have unbalanced temperatures no matter what I do and it's not like making the heatsinks 30% bigger would add noticable weight I may mount my own heatsinks and see how she does but all in all its definitely worth it good job

I was once a very happy XLS1500 owner (for 3 years) until I researched the new XLS1502 ... The added input level adjustment ... the ability to turn the display off and / or the bouncing LED meters ... And especially the great low distraction blue lights (which can be turned off too) Great product ... excellent sound-staging ... superb dynamics ... seriously out-performs virtually any analog amp below $1.500.00

Best Home Theater amps for the money
Purchased these to run my 11.2 surround for Atmos, DTX and Auro-3D surround sound formats. Currently running almost all at 1/4 - 1/3 power since they are more powerful than most of my speakers (Polks). The advantage of not having to push the amps means the fans hardly ever turn on and they stay very cool. This also means no distortion. As for a audible hiss as some state, its a lot more present in PA speakers as Ive had the previous generation of these amps in my DJ system. Main thing to consider is noise floor. The 1502s have a 6dB lower noise floor which is nearly silent on Polks. You might get a little higher on say a Klipsch with its Trizac horns and higher sensitivity but its not unbearable. I did notice it the most with my vintage LaScalas but they are 103dB sensitivity and thats a high bench mark. Another thing to like is the ability to run balanced and unbalanced inputs. I prefered the balanced since my preamp supports these and that also maintains a lower noise floor over the RCA inputs. All and All- these are phenomenal amps and if by chance you end up getting power hungry beasts like 12RTi speakers- the Crwon 2502 drive Core 2 runs them without breaking a sweat. Those things came alive! Lastly- love that they are rack mountable- see pics. I run them sealed inside with open ventilation at top, bottom and rear and have other fans moving air across all the components. You cant go wrong and would spend 3x this to match the performance

You can't get better...
This is unbelievable amp with crazy power I compared it to my emotiva xpa gen3 ( 899$) and I have found that its way better in every way (Sound quality 'power' wight & heat..). While it's almost half price, I think it's the best amp in the world ( price and performance-wise) without rival... Do your self a favor and get it now. Note from crown: "The INPUT SENSITIVITY feature enables the playback from sources with inherently low output levels to drive the amplifier to full power by selecting ".775 - HIGH." It is recommended that this remain set at the default NORMAL setting for all other audio sources to provide optimal system performance. The HIGH setting is often used with source devices that use RCA connections." Update:(17/12/2016) I've tried it with ( Pioneer Elite sc-95 , Onkyo tx-rz800, Yamaha rx-a3050, Marantz 7010 ) choosing ".775 - HIGH". They all work very well with no problem at all .
