A dramatic tone shaper for your snare
Using the BFSD is like having two different drums. Placing it on the batter head lowered the pitch of my Gene Krupa about a step, scooped the mids and tightened the (Sound Pure - recommended) snare sound. I am a recording engineer and I see the BFSD as a valuable recording tool. It makes the drum sound gated. There is a slight reduction in volume, and the BFSD invites you to hit a bit harder. I like the focus it gives to Hot Rods as well. A different sound palette from the same drum for $20. Tune your snare well first. Definitely worth a try!

Great!
Works perfect on my Pearl Steel Snare. I play Drums for a large Church and the Donut delivers the sound I need.

I love the donut style
I love the donut style. The original muffles a little too much and not having direct snare contact with the stick drives me crazy trying to play ghosts notes. This one works perfectly.

SO much better than a dish towel!
If you're trying to get that sweet wet 70s snare sound and you love Vulfpeck, you've probably messed with dish towels, wallets, tshirts, etc. Well guess what, THEY'RE ALL A PAIN. Most of the time I would gaff tape a dish towel for meh results. This this is AWESOME. Convenient and great fat sound. I forget it's even on my drum.

Awesome quick fix for that real fat snare sound
Awesome quick fix for that real fat snare sound. Great for small rehearsal studios as it brings down the volume a bit as well

20 something bucks to make it sound like an 80's snare
So I took a chance on this thing. 20 something bucks to make it sound like an 80's snare? I knew it wasn't going to work. Well, man was I wrong. I really need to tune my snare, but just slapping this thing on it muffled all the echo and ring it had and it sounded 100% better. Can't wait to find time to tune the snare and then play some rock with this on it. Great product. seems well built. You're not paying $24 for a "piece of plastic." You're paying $24 for the incredible sound that comes from your snare with this thing on it.

where it sounds better to me
Works as advertised. Lowered pitch of my snare drum to create a "big fat" sound. Also reduced the "ringing" of the snare which just left a big beefy low note. Yes you can achieve this by other methods. However, this works, it couldn't be easier to use, and really it's quite affordable. As a bonus for me, it also encourages me to strike the drum in the middle of the head, where it sounds better to me.

I just love this item
Just as advertised. I have been looking for a long time for an item that would give me the 70's PHAT sound. "Steve's doughnut" has done just that. I just love this item. Highly recommend it!
