Bought this for my totally grown adult boyfriend, he has never had so much fun with a birthday present. He started out with playing the sad accordion melody from spongebob. It was a hit. It comes with different mouth pieces, a little case AND cloth to wipe down your beautiful instrument. Money well spent and it doesn't even need batteries! I'll probably buy one for myself and we can jam together. Look for our tour coming this summer!

Gave it as a gift, and they absolutely loved it. It worked well and is perfect for anyone who is musically inclined. Although I'd say that a bit of piano knowledge is helpful, my friend picked it up quickly. So long as you can read music, or have a good ear, this instrument will work for you. As my friend was playing it pulling out of the school parking lot (not driving!) I'd say it's a hit to give as a gift or just too have fun with yourself. I'd like to see one of things accompany an Otamatone, though I wonder if the human brain could handle it.

I got this originally to use for a summer camp I work at. I saw a video of this instrument on youtube and was intrigued on how to use it so I wanted to learn how. I didn't want to pay a lot for it so I purchased this one. For $20 it actually really basic and should work just fine for anything. I got the case, another mouth piece, and a cloth for the melodica. It looks exactly like the photos! The tone seems perfect and so far no issues. There is a strap on the back to hold it while playing. What I didn't realize was that on the melodica, there actually are engravings of the notes and "do, re, mei..ect" which is nice for someone who is just learning to play (like me). They are not a different color then the keys. I am excited to use it more!

Love this thing. Has a great sound. Make sure to clear saliva from it... It builds up pretty quickly. Bought this to try to teach myself how to play simple melodies from ear, having a blast. It's driving the people in my household a bit crazy though... It's pretty loud!

Got my melodica today and i'm absolutely in love- I collect funky instruments and love playing them as much as possible. I was a little worried at first because of the reviews, stating that it had gone out of tune or didn't play chords well. However, something to note about the melodica is that it is a reed instrument, unlike an actual piano, which uses hammers. Because of this, in order to keep the sound quality, you should always blow out moisture (press the button on the back and blow or shake until all droplets are out). Not to mention, because of this, the chords are much harder to play. People who complain about the chords don't really understand that the melodica is meant to be a melody instrument. You should also keep your melodica in an environment with controlled temperature (preferrably warm) and always wait before playing if your melodica recently changed environments. It should always be stored in it's case, as dropping it can cause it to go out of tune. I hope this helped. Many of the low reviews are misinformed. My only complaints are that the keys give a little resistance, and notes are replaced with "Do re mi", but that's not a big problem to me. :) sounds nice, fun to play, good quality for the price.

I've seen videos of melodicas and wanted to get one because of how small and quirky they are, but did not want to invest too much money in case I didn't like it. I bought this one because of the multitude of good ratings. I was NOT disappointed. I started playing immediately, it is very easy to play and easy to use. The only drawback of the instrument is how spit can collect inside of it and you have to manually press a button to blow it all out and clean it. But being an instrument you physically have to blow in this does not surprise me, and the instrument itself is marvelous for beginners like me. I would recommend this to others who are unsure of whether they want to invest in this instrument or not!

Purchased for nephew for his birthday. He turned 8 and wanted a regular keyboard and I thought this would be a good entry point, and because it's wind powered it's a little cooler and will never run out of batteries. It comes with a strap on the back for holding it, a mouthpiece that goes directly on the keyboard, and a long flexible tube mouthpiece, so you can sit and play with it on your lap or a table. It also has a very cool canvas case to keep everything in. My nephew LOVES it and really enjoys being able to take it anywhere to play music. Plus, his favorite color is green, so it was a huge bonus to be able to get it in his favorite color. <3

I just received this a couple days ago and already love it! I am having a lot of fun with it! It was delivered almost a week before promised, too! For the last few days I have been playing it enthusiastically, already learning a couple songs ("Yesterday," "Here comes the Sun"), scaring the cats and torturing the neighbors in the process! In reality, it has a pretty rich sound and neither the cats nor the neighbors have actually complained. I have not tested the reeds to see which keys are out of tune (and how much). Judging from my playing so far, it doesn't sound terribly out of tune. I heard that it is best to wait a couple weeks to break it in before trying to tune the melodica, so I am going to wait to worry about it. Overall, this is really great, especially for such a low price!

I bought this for my musically inclined 16 year old daughter and she has yet to put it down!! It’s not expensive but it works very well. The case is nice too. I’m sure the tube needs to be cleaned on occasion. All in all I’d highly recommend this. It’s goid inexpensive fun!
