I have been using Norton security products for many years. The recent versions pretty much stay out of my way (other than the promotional popups that can be switched off.) I like the automatic download scanning and I don't find performance to be impacted by running the product. Norton is what I put on all my relatives' PCs when they ask me for "support" and none of them has ever been infected by malware (neither have I). I appreciate Symantec's recent licensing policies - 10 devices of different kinds for a low cost per year.

I got this and installed it but I am not computer smart. I already had avg free anti virus protection on my computer and I did not know you had to get rid of it first but after I learn this and deleted it from my computer installing norton security premium was easy to install. I put it on my phone and iPad. I love it. I went to copper river and it told me their free WiFi was not protected so it does work and the main reason for it is for me to keep my computer and phones free of viruses. Thank you norton

Update 08/03/2016: After having tried Bitdefender with Parental Advisor and feeling like it lacked polish, I came back to this product again. I am happy that they have updated the Norton Family Safety Website. It is very modern looking and with lots of options to monitor your children's browsing. I really think this may be the best Cloud Based Parental Control Software with the exception perhaps of Covenant Eyes. Also you know Symantec will be on top of any threats coming your way as they always seem o do well in the A/V tests. Plus the price is extremely reasonable for 10 devices. With the demise or change of focus of the leading Family Internet Content Filters like Bsecure & Safe Eyes & Most recently Microsoft Family Safety's new policies, it is nice to still be able to purchase a package that includes both Content Filtering, Virus Protection and Firewall. I am very impressed with Norton Premier Online Family Safety. This package offers support for up to 10 devices. And it works on Mac Android and iPhone too...but in a more limited way, which is OK because I use iPhone's built in security. But you can at least monitor text messages, App Usage and Social Media via weekly reports emailed to you. 10 Devices are covered as well.

I’ve been using Norton for 20 years and never once have I got a virus or malware, Norton has always caught it and automatically deleted or quarantined it. My only dislikes is I don’t want there browser extensions and once in a while it bugs you to install it. Every so often I’ll download a program I know is reputable and Norton will suspect malware and qaurtine it where you need to manually need to let the program restore it and exclude it from treats. It comes with some basic speed up tools and junk cleaners but there are other programs that do much better job then these but it’s good for a quick junk files cleanup. Norton also does not bog down resources like other name services.

Love Norton! Been using it for years and my 2 year subscription recently expired. I bought 2 of the 1 year instant download and after purchasing, I just Live Chatted with a representative and told them I had another 1 year subscription and I want to combine it with my already existing sub. He kindly asked me to add me 2nd code onto my account and then he went into my account to disable the 2nd one, and added a year onto my inital subscription. Super easy to install and works amazingly. I love the deal on Amazon as well, highly recommended!

Let me see. Covers ten computers, for a whole year, at $4.99 a computer. Holy- Moley!!!!! I am a securities analyst and I build a lot of computers for people. I have ran many different security Suites on computers and the two that really catch my adoration, are Norton Premium and Bit-Defender. Some prefer Bit-Defender and I will agree that the anti-virus definitions of that suite are pretty good. However, Norton has a wide myriad of extra peripheral applications that come with the suite. One of the biggest is the child protection portion of the suite. You can set times, dates, authorized and unauthorized site visitation, and more. Norton also provides cloud back-up, an awesome password vault, online security monitoring and more. The only other security suite, which comes close to this, is Bit-Defender. So, Keep your data secure. Grab Norton or Bit-Defender. You won't go wrong.

Let me begin by saying that I am NOT computer savvy. Not even a little bit. If you are, this review will not offer you anything useful, so I would stop here. If you are like me and somewhat intimidated and confused by things like this - read on. I am going to put this in as basic of terms as possible (as if I were explaining it to my elderly parents). No offense meant to anyone, just trying to keep it simple and easy. To avoid any confusion, I want to be clear that I had a previous version of Norton 360 (which included backup), that I was seeking to renew. After reading some reviews, it appeared that this product was the closest that I was going to get. I (like many others) did not want to pay the retail price through Norton to renew (which was $79.99 until the last day of my subscription, in which they sent an offer for $59.99). Buying through Amazon saved me $10. Cool. Okay. Back to it. I waited until I had 1 day left remaining on my 360 product and decided I had better act before I was without protection. So, now that I determined the correct product, I was confused as to if I should I get the download version, or the actual boxed version. Let me assure you that either way, you're only paying to get the product key to enter, so the download is immediate. Here are your super easy steps to follow; As soon as I made the download purchase, I received an email from Amazon that said "Order details". Within that email, It will say "Product Key". Print that sucker out (although you should be able to access it through your Amazon account at anytime - I wasn't going to risk it). Do NOT follow the instructions or click the link "how to redeem". Go into your existing Norton account. When you click on that, you will see your standard "Norton 360" screen that gives you the options; "Security - Identity - Backup - Performance - More Norton" Look just below that and you will see "Subscription Status" (with the days remaining) and followed by "RENEW". Click on the "Renew". It will take you to a screen to enter your "Product Key" (that came in your "Order details" email). Enter your product key. Enter your email address and your previous Norton 360 password. Voila. You're done. Not sure why, but my subscription did not reset to 365 days, but rather gave me my last remaining day in addition to the new subscription (so mine said that I had 366 days remaining). That being said, I would follow the recommendations of the previous reviewers and assume that it will NOT give you any remaining days on your current subscription and will reset it to just 365 for the new one. I cannot tell you why mine let me keep my day, but it did. That's it. Now you also have your product key to enter for additional devices. I will update this review if I have any issues doing so, but I imagine that it will be as pain free as my PC was. I will also update the review with any issues with the product, but by all appearances it simply continues my Norton protection that I was already pleased with. If you're renewing your Norton 360, I assume that you were satisfied with that product too, so reviewing it's features in this review might be redundant. Update: I added this to my Android phone and it was also super easy. After downloading it to your PC (if you have already exited Norton from your initial set up - no worries. Just go back to Norton.com and sign in again), simply click on the "install on another device", then just enter your email address in the box provided). Norton will email the link directly to your phone (assuming that you have your email set up on your phone, of course). When the email arrives on your phone, open it, click install (using the "Play Store" to open it). Agree to the licensing and you're done. It will then show up on your phone as "Norton Mobile Security". I immediately clicked on "Open" and it immediately scanning my phone - identifying an app (that I had trusted) as a "high risk" and I was able to uninstall it on the spot. Very pleased with the ease of the whole process. Again, I realize that this review is overly simplistic, but I assume that there are others like myself that want it spelled out and surprise free. Update 5/15/2016 - One feature that I have been displeased with on the mobile app, is that the app settings do not allow me to scan or updates when I am on Wi-Fi only. If anyone has figured a way out to do this - please add a comment below - as I think it might be most helpful to others. I can change the settings on my Android, but then it affects ALL of my app updates (not what I want). I only want to change the settings on the Norton app.

I've been using Norton Internet Security since 2008. Since then, I kept ordering NIS from Amazon every year and simply used the key to renew. This was far less than renewing directly from Norton. Last year, Norton replaced NIS with Norton Security and I didn't have time to research what the differences are and whether I'll have to uninstall and install this new software so I renewed my NIS 5-user from Norton...for over $100 (ouch). This year I researched and I was fairly confident that Norton Security was mostly a re-branding of NIS so I purchased Norton Security Premium for less than the half of the renewal price from Norton. Once I purchased and obtained my product key, I opened my NIS client and hit "Renew" and selected "I have a key or code to enter" and entered the product key from Norton Security...and it worked. So those of you still running NIS, you now know that you can use the product key from Norton Security to renew. When you go onto your My Norton site, you will see your current NIS along with the Norton Security that you "renewed" using your NIS client.

Because I've purchased a couple of new computers in the last several months, each with a 1 year subscription to a different anti virus suite, I have had the opportunity compare them. The other 2 are McAfee Livesafe and McAfee Total Protection. Consider the McAfee products as interchangeable. The UI is different, but they are essentially the same product when it comes to protection. This will not be an in depth review and comparison, but just some basic observations. Norton continues to be my "go to" product. The interface for this product is slick, modern, and easy to use. Norton protection is always rated near the top, if not at the top, and I see nothing different with this product. It has intercepted a couple of attempted viruses, but as far as I know, nothing has gotten through. The footprint seems to be pretty light. I haven't noticed any slowdowns with Norton running in the background. Disclaimer-I have several computers, all of which are relatively new (within the last year or two), and all of which are relatively powerful (i7 processors). If you have an older or less powerful computer, YMMV with this product. I can only comment on my experience, which has been positive in regard to Norton being a drain on resources. It hasn't been for me. I can't really comment on the non protection features of Norton Security Premium (like backup, identify safe, etc), because I don't use them. I'm more of "set it and forget" type user, and in that regard, Norton works just fine. This suite updates the virus definitions and does periodic scans without me having to do anything. The firewall also seems to be pretty robust and foolproof. It just works. I've also had a good experience with McAfee. Really, no better and no worse than Norton. Pretty similar actually. I like the UI for Norton marginally better, but not enough for it to be a major deal. When my subscriptions start coming up for renewal in about 6 months, I'll probably just look to see which is cheaper. I have 6 computers to cover, so that might be part of the decision criterion. All else being equal, I'll probably move all my computers to Norton because that's what I am most experienced with, but if there is a significant price difference, I wouldn't hesitate to move everything to McAfee. Both programs work fine for me. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Norton Security Premium.

I've written up at least 4 other reviews on Norton products, from Anti Virus and 360 to the last Security version 5 user and now this one, and I won't go all the way back to the 90's and list them all including Ghost and Utility. It's just that for reasons unknown to me, apparently some users don't think that Norton is perfect like I do. My only complaint has been their recent addition of pop up boxes that I need to click “Don't show this again”. But I can understand them helping new users and making an attempt to end their seemingly endless harassment by those who purchase their software and either don't know how to use it or purchased it for an OS that it's not for, and then complaining that it doesn't work. Between my business and personal computers I couldn't even guess how many Norton products that I've used, but today I'm protecting 17 personal computers with it's internet products, 17. I believe I started using the internet products in '96, or 20 years ago and while it hasn't always been 17 per year, 5 years back it was at least 8, and I'm just talking about personal products and not my business that uses them too. To date, I have never had a virus, never once on any computer. The whole idea of a virus even existing could be a myth from my own view point,...Except. I also repair computers from friends and family and occasionally friends of family, so I've repaired well over 100 computers in this situation. I can recall several times when doing this repair work that I downloaded Norton onto the computer and it located a virus, quarantined it and fixed the computer. So I do know that they exist, they just won't seem to when you use Norton, and this is after being on the web since it became the World Wide Web. Although I was on bulletin boards back about 6 years earlier probably using a 9600k baud modem, but my memory fails me on the specifics for back then. About 4 years back I had one internet related problem and I came to learn that it was malware, which is now familiar and a real problem unlike a virus ever was for me. At first I used a free product from Lavasoft and then switched to Malware Bytes, effectively taking care of all malware problems that Norton 360 let through. But since the first version of Security over a year ago, I have yet to find any malware on my computers when using Malware Bytes, because of the fact that Norton has been including the protection for malware with it. It's complete internet protection. Today I use Norton on Windows 7 and 10 and Android Kit Kat and Lollipop and if you check their site for what it works with you'll find that it's many but not all operating systems, so check first and don't be screaming about how it doesn't work when it says that it won't and you purchased the wrong software. Using Norton can be as simple as you want it to be, I've installed it on friends computers and this couple wants me to show them how to cut and paste because they haven't got to right clicking yet, but when asking them about Norton they tell me that they've almost forgot that it was on the computer. This would be because after killing the pop up boxes, there's nothing that you have to do. It's protecting you and doing updates and tuneups all on it's own. For an experienced user, there are many functions left from 360 and before to schedule and remove just like you've done before and you can choose to minimize it's usage or whatever you might choose to do with it, some of it has just been moved around. You'll still have the Power Eraser to kill any potential virus if you are afraid that one got through. You can still go through your firewall settings allowing certain things otherwise blocked and whatever you want with most of your security settings. They've taken a pretty complex piece of software and made simple enough for anyone to use and hidden the advanced level under advanced/details. I still hear about Norton being a resource hog and I find this humorous, because unless you're still running your 2001 XP computer, it isn't, and it's your own fault if you have an old, slow computer and not the fault of software based on common 5 year old computers sold by the big manufacturers. Besides, I can trim Norton down to use very little resources if needed by making functions manual instead of automatic and then the problem becomes not knowing how to operate what you purchased and that's not a sellers fault. One last thing. Norton has always made it's real money through subscription renewal, so just don't do it. You can let it run out and then uninstall it and then download the next free 30 trial and when that runs out you'll just input the code that you purchased on here amazon much cheaper than the renewal price, and when including the free 30 days, it's an actual 13 months of use, making it even cheaper yet. So I'm telling you that from my own 20+ years of experience that Norton could only be better if it were free, like most good things in life. You just need to make sure that you purchase only software for your operating system and tell the pop up boxes to never show again, buy a new computer if you expect today's software to work on it and don't renew. It's really that simple if you don't want any trouble from using the internet. Recommended
