UPDATE: 6/10/17 - Upgraded from 3 to 5 stars. Nonda has redesigned this adapter and is shipping a new model that is slightly smaller than the old one and works well with for the 2016 MacBook Pros. It fits well alongside all of the USB-C cables I've been able to test it with: including 3rd party USB-C to DisplayPort, USB-C to USB-A, and a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter (see photos of the new version and old versions alongside each other). [Original Review] This item is well constructed and works with every USB-A device I've tried it with so far. However, as other reviewers have noted, when using [the original Nonda model] with a 2016 MacBook Pro it prevents any other cable (except the Apple USB-C charging cable) from being plugged in the adjacent USB-C port. I believe Nonda's design predates the newer MacBook Pros so it's not Nonda's fault— but something buyers should be aware of.

The good: Does its work perfectly. Permits connection of older USB-A hard drives and memory sticks to a new Apple Mac having only USB-C. Has worked great with an iPad as well. No complaints- everything I’ve tried has worked beautifully. (All USB-C computer to USB-A devices.) The not quite as good: On a Mac having 4 USB-C connection points, I can only use two of the three adapters I purchased because these adapters are too wide to fit two side-by-side. It’s my belief that the width of the USB-A cable leading into this adapter is the real problem, since its width pretty much prevents the adapter from being any narrower. Therefore, this is not a big criticism. Small issue #2: the adapter took a harder push than expected to connect. As with the last issue, not a big deal. Once the proper pressure was applied, the device went to work perfectly and as expected. We are happy with this item and are guessing others will be as well.

I purchased this so I could use my USB-A trackball on my new MacBook Pro (USB-C). I've been using it for about a month now. It does the job. It is pricey for an adapter, but it is very unobtrusive. What I like best is that it appears to have a very solid connection - none of that loose-fitting garbage. It seems to be very high quality.

I use this with my MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, and it works really well. It looks a little bulky at first, but it fits pretty sleekly in the computer. the indicator light is only on one side, so that is a slight annoyance, but not too bad. The color doesn't perfectly match the computer as it was supposed to, but it's pretty close. Fits snuggly against the computer so it looks good when plugged in. Seems like a quality product, packaging looked professional. made out of durable metal, but small enough that it is potentially easy to use. Other than the steep price, this is the best USB C to USB 3.0 that I have yet to use. With all that Apple is making us do buying new converters and such, this is one that I would definitely recommend.

Great item. Just what I needed to connect my phone and Apple watch chargers to my mac, as I didn’t want to put out money for new thunderbolt cords for each. Very clean design, sturdy metal casing that matches the space gray 2018 MacBook Pro to a T. Highly recommend!

Best USB-C to USB-A adapter by far, don't have to deal with having a wire and it's pretty slim. Personally prefer this to the Apple alternative simply because of the compact size. No matter if you want to leave it attached to a certain accessory or take it with you on the go this is a great choice. The LED indicator is a little distracting but since it's reversible you can just face it down also the space gray matches pretty well with the space gray of my computer. Seems to work well with all my USB-A accessories. When plugged in it leaves very little room so use the other USB-C plug on the MacBook Pro though but if you have the touch bar version you also have the other side.

Reading through the questions I have to point at that there is no magic here. This literally takes a USB-C port and makes it into a standard USB-A port. Only the pins for USB-A are connected so for example the MacBook Pro's 12volt USB-C charger with this inserted will be putting out 5volt (standard, I measured it with a USB tester). Matter of fact in my brief testing the device may even loose the data connection required to request higher amperages. Putting this adapter in line with my iPad and plugging it in it was charging at 5volt 1amp, removing it it was charging at 5volt 2.3amp which is significantly faster (without it). Its a USB-C to USB-A device, NOT the other way around. It will limit performance to USB-A specs to anything its connected too. So if you have a USB-A male to USB-C male cord and you pop this on the end, you've done nothing other than waste your time. It will still connect to won't help you with anything USB-C related. However that isn't the intended purpose, it works very well adapting USB-C devices to USB-A. Due to the specs and backward compatibility with the USB standard having this adapter on your Mac (or whatever) is like having a USB-A on it. It has a very high build quality. The light on it is convenient too. I would recommend this product. Even if you are like me and have a couple hubs you keep in your bag this adapter is just nice to have....just in case....

I had recently bought a new Macbook Pro with touch bar. All the ports it has are USB-C type. Therefore I for the USB-C to USB 3.0 adapter from Apple for USD 19. But it was cumbersome to have it attached to the laptop permanently. That's when I started searching for some compact adapter and came across this one. This is awesome: small, compact, fast and of the same color as my laptop !!! I can keep it connected to my laptop without any hindrance (see images). And since it is USB 3.0, the data transfer is very fast. At half price compared to the Apple accessory, this is a must have for all Macbook Pro (USB-C adapter) owners. UPDATE: After using it for a few months, i bought one more for the Macbook. The best adapter for USB to USB-C

I purchased a space gray adapter because it was cheaper than the silver one and I don't care if it matches my laptop or not. I have the 2017 13" MacBook Pro with touchbar, so I have 4 USB C ports. Several others posted that the adapter blocked the port next to it, but I didn't have that issue. For $10, this is awesome. I have a really great USB Hub made by Anker, but the cord for that is 12" long and the cord for my external hard drive is 12" long, too, so 2ft of wires makes for a very crowded desk at school.
