Great gift!

Bought this as a gift for Christmas. When they opened it, they became excited and knew just where they'd hang it at home. They said they're looking forward to scratching off locations the more they visit.

MUST HAVE!!!

I love this!! It's so nice and easy to scratch off the states that you've been too! Just use a coin, and it comes off as if you're scratch off your iTunes gift card code, or a scratch off ticket--super easy. The paint didn't come off when opening it--although I was gentle when opening the package. Kind of scratches easily if you accidentally scratch a state that you didn't want to--but not super noticeable(from what I did). I bought a frame form Michaels-- 24 x 36, and had extra room on the side, but looks soooooo good. I will definitely be getting it again for a gift or of the world once I've been out of the US.

Fun memories!

We love this map!! We bought it to scratch off all the states we've visited together. 2 years down, many to go. I also bought little push pins so we can mark specific cities. Easy to scratch off and it's huge! Will fit nicely in a 24x36 frame, not sure why everyone complains about the size-it's an extremely easy fix with a border.

Best Gift for a real Traveler!

My husband is the hardest person to shop for. He isn't materialistic and would rather go on an adventure than have the latest gadget on the market. I started looking for a map for him to document where he had been since I knew he had never really sat down long enough to look at how much of the country he has seen and compare that with where he hasn't been. I've always had a problem with the maps that hang on the wall of a home or office with little pins in them. It always seemed to me that if a person really traveled, they would want a map as easily movable and resilient as themselves. That, and a pin doesn't tell how you got there... the back roads traveled where you found the quaint diner with the best chicken ever or when you missed a turn and ended up in Virginia instead of Tennessee (that was my fault and is now forever a mark on his Scratch Map for us to remember and laugh about). We move around a lot and this map can roll up and move with us in a second. The surface looks to me like an antique map and I love that it is a very detailed road map underneath. My husband spent a few hours when he first got it scratching off the highways taken and remembering the entire trips he took rather than just a quick pin in the destination. I heard stories I hadn't heard before from travels that happened before we met. He isn't the type to reminisce as he is always looking forward, so it was a rare moment for us that we both truly enjoyed. Thank you to the makers of Scratch USA Map. My husband now wants the world map and would love to have one of just canada as well!

Great gift for traveling partner

Got this as a gift for my traveling partner, for us to scratch off the routes we have taken in our travels together. It looks nice, it's fun to do, and it will be different than anything other people have on their walls. Quality and item as described.

Love this map!!!

Great map!! This is actually my second purchase of the map as a framing store messed up the first one. It’s easy to scratch off and makes traveling fun for my 6 year old. The only issue was framing. I couldn’t find a frame for it so I had a frame made.

Fantastic gift for a traveler!

I purchased this scratch-off U.S. map as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend. We enjoy camping and plan to travel to the 50 states eventually. The product came in a thick tube, and the map itself was wrapped in tight plastic. After reading other reviews about how they scratched off some of the material when taking the tube off, I was very careful/ slow and had no issues with mine. I had to cut the map down slightly to fit into a 24" x 36" frame because it is odd dimensions, but the final product looks great! When scratching off the material, the map underneath is more detailed and the states are different colors. In some places, there are flecks of the gold scratch-off stuff left, that I began to carefully scratch off with my finger nail with no problems. Really it's no big deal because you cant notice it when the whole thing is hung up. In some reviews, I read that people had issues with the under-map scratching off. My boyfriend and I each used a dime to scratch it off, were careful, and had no problems with this happening. The scratch-off material comes off very easily. In the end, we marked the places that we had been to together with green map dots. We are very happy with this product and hung it in our entry way! We are already planning trips to scratch off more states in the future!

Great gift

This made for a fantastic 1 year anniversary gift! It's so much fun to scratch off states, and it's something you could frame later. Also, you can write on the map with a permanent marker after you've scratched off the gold, if there are places you want to star.

Love it

Was worried about some of the reviews saying that the scratch off material doesn't come off cleanly, however, I scratched off the majority of the map and so far each state has scratched off PERFECTLY, no marks, blemishes, or anything of that sort. Just make sure you take your time and be very gentle, at a very low angle, when scratching in order to avoid 'denting' the map with your coin. Love this thing.

Excellent for travel enthusiasts

I really like this map. It's very well-detailed, and the gold layer matches up perfectly with what's underneath. Take extreme care when removing it from the packaging and unrolling it, as it's very easy to scratch off bits while just moving it around.
