I had purchased a package of 6 from another supplier just a few months ago because the price per unit was lower. Unfortunately the quality was lower also - the cutters dulled within a week and were aggravating - my son the engineer said the razor cutters were made from very low quality steel, probably from scrap metal and they could not hold an edge - typical occurrence in China. I then ordered these letter openers a few weeks ago and had my son examine the metal cutter blades and he gave a thumbs up. I am still using the first one and it works so much better. I don't normally give this much thought to something as simple as a letter opener since I expect it to work. Unfortunately not all letter openers are created equal. These are the good ones.

It's just a little thing, but I have used this type of letter opener for many years, and these are by far the best I've used. The tip is pointy, the blade is sharp, it slices right through the envelope. The bright colors make them easy to find on my desk. What more can I say?

Love these letter openers. Have always had them given to me with advertising on them and when my last one at work broke I decided to see if they were on amazon. Bought 2 packages so I could also have a couple at home. They are nice and sharp and cut the envelope open easily. Definitely recommend them!

I wasted a lot of time reading reviews for letter openers. Let me save you some time. Just buy these. They have a long blade face so you would have to try very hard to get paper caught up at the intersection of the blade and the plastic handle, which seems to be the main complaint people have with this type of letter opener. That hasn't happened to me.

Gee. This is the first time I've had to buy letter openers. I used to get them free at trade shows. Of the dozens received over the years, only two survived massive spring cleaning purges over the years. Both were of this same type. When I couldn't find either of my decade plus old ones, I focused on finding the exact same thing. Fortunately, these were available. They are as good as ever. The blades are sharp. The envelopes open cleanly. The contents (if you point the long rat tail upwards toward the top of the envelope) are not mauled. I've been using one of the new letter openers for weeks and am thrilled to report that these are as good as the ones they replaced. Yes, it's silly to get so excited over an inexpensive letter opener, but maybe less so something works so well. Sometimes just being frustration free is a big win!

I've been using these for about a week and have had no issues so far. The blade is very sharp and works as well as similarly priced openers and maybe even better than some. The plastic feels very thin and flimsy, so I have no idea how long these will last. They are definitely getting the job done in the meantime. As long as these last at least a couple of months each, I will probably buy more when the time comes. *UPDATE* I'm still using the first one, and it's still great a month later! I have a LOT of mail to open at work on a daily basis, and it is definitely getting the job done! The ones my office provides tend to get dull or break within a month or maybe two tops, so I'm happy with how this one has held up so far. **2ND UPDATE** I finally threw away the first opener and started using a second one. The first one lasted me right at 5 months. That first opener isn't broken or anything, but it is finally getting a bit dull. Considering the ones my office purchases only last a month or two tops, I feel like I definitely got my money's worth! I will definitely be purchasing more once these run out!

I was given a token letter opener of this type at a trade show about 20 years ago and I loved it. Alas...the point of the plastic guide broke off, making the opener a bit less efficient but still very much usable. What a joy to again find this style of opener, and in a THREE pack no less. I can't wait to get mail or packages just so I can use my opener (I have the other 2 stashed, but they'll be here long after I'm gone. They are sturdy & durable, not like some flimsy ones I tried as replacements. These are top notch!

I’ve used only letter openers for over 30 years now. Most were “ok” and 2 or 3 were better but I always had occasional issues of tearing & clogging on the blade. That being said, I really put these to a test. Every time the tear was neat, clean &. fast. I’m sure the blade won’t wear using paper. I did open a couple Amazon boxes without any trouble, even the big cushion envelopes were great. I’m so glad there was 3.....a color for each place mail can be opened.

It must be really easy to make a plastic handle with an embedded razorblade, that looks just the same as these, but don't work very well. These are identifiable by the fact the blade extends forward, past the narrowest point in the throat. I suppose that's part of the secret. Anyway, if you insert the Ram-pro into a envelope, it just sort of slits itself. You barely have to think about it. When I've used dozens of look-alikes, you find yourself tearing rather than slitting the envelope flat, with paper bunching up ahead of the blade. Given how pricey these are, I worry about the quality of the steel, and how many envelopes the edge will take before it becomes dull, but so far (after probably 200 envelopes) I'm still using my first slitter, so maybe I should stop obsessing about it. I know the competition would have failed before this point, so maybe the Ram-Pro actually uses better steel. If you're buying for somebody who isn't a discriminating user of desk implements, maybe you should go with the cheaper alternatives - maybe they'll never appreciate the difference. But if you're buying for yourself, or somebody who pays attention, these are the ones to buy.

I'm so glad I bought the Ram-Pro 3-pc letter opener because they are sharp as heck and they work like magic. This opener slices through envelopes like butter. I gave the red one to my grandfather and he loved it. When the time comes to get replacements, I won't be wasting any more time reading other reviews for letter openers. These work as described and as long as they keep making them like the ones I've gotten, I'm definitely coming back for more. This is a must have item and I'd give it 5/5!
