I bought this wheel for my mice and it has worked wonderfully for them. It is much easier for them to get going than the Kaytee Silent Spinner and they seem to be able to run much faster on it. And, of course, it's extremely quiet! I keep my mice in my bedroom and this not keep me up at night. I also love that it's so easy to disassemble for cleaning. I definitely recommend it!

The best wheel for Syrian hamsters

Silent Spinner has never made an appropriately-sized wheel for Syrian hamsters. For whatever reason, their company, which produces the quietest wheels, only makes them too small or too large. For years I'd had to put up with the 15" wheel made for chincillas, which is big and bumps against the walls of the cage. When it broke, I was so happy to find a second company had finally come out with the wheel I needed. For about a week I thought my hamster just wasn't using it because she only runs at night, and it turns out the wheel is so quiet I didn't hear it. You do need to tape it down to the bottom of the cage so it stays in place, and it can get a little squeaky, but otherwise this item is amazing.

Perfect fit.

Works perfectly for my Syrian Hamster. She had stopped running as much in the wheel that came with her cage, and we got this and she started running again! She goes crazy in the thing and it's very quiet. We don't sleep in the same room, but we had guests that said they weren't bothered at all. I can't attach it to our wire cage because of the way the back attachment is. Still works fine on the stand for her, and doesn't really take up any more space.

It saved our sanity!

It. Is. Silent. Let me repeat. SILENT. We went thru a couple other wheels for my son's hamster before we got this one, and I only wish we'd bought it sooner. Replaced a couple of Kaytee wheels that came with the cage and an accessory kit that lasted a couple weeks before sounding like a couple of rock tumblers. Have had this one for a couple months and still don't even notice when he's running. Which is a lot. At night. While those of us who aren't nocturnal are trying to sleep. Thank you, silent hamster wheel!

This is seriously the BEST hamster wheel

GUYS! This is seriously the BEST hamster wheel! It comes in a 8.3" (inches) size so it is PERFECT for a Syrian hamster. It's the Silent Spinner of course like you see at the pet stores everywhere, but they never sell the 8.3 inch one at the store. Only the 6.7 or 12 inch. Which of course are too small or too big for a Syrian. So I went online and finally found an 8 inch kind. I ordered it off Amazon and it just arrived. It's not so crazy big like the 12" size. It is SUPER quiet and runs so well. My hamster is going about 100mph on this wheel right now! lol. And his back is not arched at all. In fact, he can grow a little bigger and it will still be perfect for him. He is loving it so much right now. AND if you order it in blue, it is the pretty light blue color (like the one in the second picture) not the dark blue like you see in the other picture. Which is good because I really really wanted the light blue color to match the cage I have. Anyway, just wanted to rave about this wheel. Perfect size, quiet, pretty color, and easy on the feet. Well worth the price!

Truly silent!

This hamster wheel is great. It truly is silent. The size is great; the one that came with our cage was a bit small for a growing hamster. We were not able to attach the wheel to the cage unfortunately, due to the design of the plastic bottom on the cage we have. However, we made it work with the stand that was provided with the wheel. Overall, a great purchase that cuts down on wheel noise tremendously.

better than expected

This actually worked out great. I was worried by he off-brand, but it spins well, and of course the size fills an obvious gap in the silent-spinner lineup. This wheel is very similar, except it relies more on a mechanical fitting (square screw base meshes with a square cutout in the wheel). You should exercise caution when re-threading it to make sure everything is aligned properly before tightening, It spun like a dream fresh from the box. It slowed down and squeaked slightly after a few weeks so I hit the axle with a squirt of teflon spray and all is well. I suspect my daughter washed the wheel in the sink with the axle still attached, but hopefully I don't have to re-lube it often, Frankly, my name-brand silent spinner is a lot less free-wheeling than this one, so overall I'm impressed.

Finally! This hamster wheel in 8 inches! Thank you!!! I have been watching for this wheel to be made in 8 inches for a few years! It is the only one that is pretty quiet and is safe for their tiny feet, and I could never understand why I did not see it made in 8 inches. A Syrian really needs an 8 inch wheel. Yoyo is loving it!!
