This worked awesome for our custom barn door that my husband made. Looks super classy as well. My only recommendation would be to also purchase a floor guide (sold separately) so that the door does not swing out on the bottom.

What a deal! Umax quality is awesome and this comes at such an affordable price! Install was easy. I had to use a header board because my wall studs weren't in perfect line for this product. BE SURE to measure the distance between the holes in the track. The instructions were maybe slightly unclear? or wrong. I marked where I was going to predrill my holes in my header for the track and checked the track against the marks to find that the marks were off. Other than that, install was super easy and looks and works great!

Worked great and looks beautiful. 3rd set I've installed, 2 singles and 1 double. I made some modifications on the double because I didn't have enough wall space to accept the total length of the track and I liked the look of the middle touching instead of spaced. All three doors I built so I have no idea of how it would work with store bought door especially hollow core doors. 👍👍👍 After reading the 1 star reviews and LMBO maybe I should add if you are not some what mechanically inclined you probably call someone who is, on the hole spacing, I mounted mine on a board so hole spacing didn't matter, if you mount on dry wall you will sink the spacers when you tighten the lag bolts. Nothing in this world is perfect people, not even us

Excellent quality. The bars and wheels are thick and heavy. The wheels are plastic, but thick and heavy. I don't see them breaking easily. I guess that probably kills it as an actual barn door (outside), but it's great for in the house. Comes with similarly thick and heavy bolts. As long as you get the bolts into the studs, this should hold any door you need. This set includes rubber bumpers so the doors don't just bang against metal and scare everyone when you open them. Also includes a little T shaped plastic piece meant to attach to the floor and keep the bottom of the door from swinging outward (which is super important for safety, else a kid could pull the doors right off the track). That piece sits in a groove etched into the bottom of the door. Thats the primary reason why the doors need to be purpose built or modified to be suitable as barn doors. You can't just take normal doors and make them barn doors. Besides the groove at the bottom, you don't want hinge places chiseled out on your barn doors either. Just a few things to keep in mind. The bar comes in 3 separate pieces, though it fits together with the bolts to make a strong overall bar. I don't think the 3 pieces is a downside in fact. It just makes the thing easier to install. Just make sure you get all 3 pieces perfectly level or your door just won't work right.

My son added a huge 8' sliding barn door to a tool room in his barn and it was beautiful. I just built a tiny (8'x8') hot tub hut and decided it would be really cute to have a small sliding door on the front. I am a 67 year old woman, but admittedly, I do A LOT of construction and split wood for fun and recreation, so I didn't feel like this would be a hard project on my own. I read all the reviews and looked at the photos and videos. I used 5/8" x 5 1/2" x 6' cedar planks left over from building a fence. Since the door was 79" tall, I decided to do a patchwork wooden design, double thick. This door was a cover for a 40 mil heavy duty plastic double zippered entrance, so it was largely a privacy issue and perhaps a heavy weather buffer for the plastic door. I used the same heavy plastic (left over from some wind walls I installed on our porch apron) for sun windows which let in major light (we use solor lights inside) and then installed two new shed windows that are screened and let in a cross breeze. The sliding door is not just pretty, but it was fairly easy to assemble. I was a little worried about some reviews mentioning that the 6' bar sometimes was bent and didn't always let the door roll smoothly. Not the case for me. The door rolls like a champ. It was a little tricky hanging a 80 lb door alone, but wasn't impossible. I was surprised and very pleased at the result and the fact that I didn't have to do any readjustment to any of the hanging hardware. Sweet! I still need to sand and stain the cedar planks, but I'm waiting for the rainy season to end and just enjoying our little hot tub! This would be a snap to do with two people, but certainly not impossible for one. Will add photos.

I used this hardware to mount a bathroom door below a pitched ceiling in a 60s era cottage. The hardware is heavy as well as heavy duty so make certain the mountings are all in solid lentils above or behind any light decorative framing. The instructions (drawings) are well illustrated but might be helped with a few words on a few finer points of construction. Follow the mounting measurements for the "J" roller arms exactly, check not only the level of the mounting track and mounting holes, but also of the floor that will be below the door (don't create clearance problems for yourself). The length of the track can be adjusted for shorter distances (and narrower doors) with a hacksaw and a drill to relocate the mounts if done carefully. Don't leave out any mounting bolts, doors are heavy! Construction of the door to match the other walls actually took much longer than mounting the hardware. This was a bargain and the boss is happy.

This hardware set was much lower priced than most that I looked at. We used it to hang a sliding door on a closet. For our application we used a six-panel hollow core door (which is pretty light). The pre-drilled holes, 16 inches on center, are kind of a joke unless the door was framed specifically for a barn door. I had to mount a 3/4 inch board over the doorway and then mount the hardware to the board. I expect this will be the case in most retrofit situations. This left quite a gap between the hung door and the wall so I added a 1/2 inch spacer under the hangar straps and put some molding around the door (it was just finished with drywall). This closed part of the gap although it is still a little wider than I would prefer. Surprisingly the two-piece track rail did not cause a problem. It aligned very well and after installation worked very smoothly. One must be very careful when cutting the groove in the bottom of the door. I used a router with a guide but still muffed it up at first (the router drifted). I was able to repair it. The bottom line is that the hardware is fine each installation will have unique circumstances that must be considered.

Kit was very straightforward and easy to mount on a door we build. Very customizable and looks as great as it works. We built a simple door and mounted this in our wine tasting room where a traditional door would not work well. All our guests love it!

For the price, I was pretty skeptical. But the quality of the product is fantastic. Heavy, straight bars. The seam lined up perfectly. All the hardware was of high quality. The instructions were pictograms, but I googled in advanced and watched a YouTube of a very similar product and that made things a little easier to follow. I am a 130 lb 5'3" woman and installed this myself on a very heavy door in about 45 minutes. The only mistake I made was not putting the bumpers in the right place initially, and I had to take off two of the lag bolts, slide the bumpers over, and reinstall them. I installed this on a door that, when opened, hit a ceiling beam. I used the same door, without making it any larger, and I think it looks fine. It is just a closet door, so privacy wasn't really an issue. Perfect product, great materials, easy installation. I would buy this again.

Great quality. Add a 1x4 behind brackets to help support it better. The 1x4 will allow you to screw into all the studs.
