I forgot my fancy Philips 3D head on a trip so I purchased this low cost one as a temporary replacement. Low and Behold, this one shaves far better and faster than the more expensive one!!! Now, to be fair, I have to say that the heads of the other one were about a year old compared to the brand new ones on this one. But I definitely do not remember my fancy one shaving so quickly and thoroughly even when brand new! On top of that, this one has a much deeper "cavity" behind that heads so it does not clog up as fast as the other one. I am sure this affects the efficiency as well.

I'm impressed! I have a top of the line Braun Series 7 which I love and have had for well over a year. This shaver cuts closer and leaves my face and head smoother. It does this much faster than the Braun. I paid close to $300 for the Braun... I realize that the cutting performance of the Norelco will deteriorate as the blades dull. The Norelco is also very quiet and really easy to clean and it doesn't drop little bits of hair everywhere unlike the Braun. Since it cuts very close it is also pretty aggressive for sensitive skin but I'm adjusting well to it. I can't believe how much I paid for it.

I've tried a few different rotary electric razors over the years and no longer buy into the hype of fancy heads and "floating geometries". This product is the model I will keep replacing cutters on. The last razor I remember well was a Remington R-400 which was pretty good and is now kept as my backup razor at work. I had replaced the Remington with the Philips 1150x (6100) with highly-touted "Dual Precision" heads. These worked for me but not very well and not as good as the Remington for two years. During this time I bought a Philips PQ208 travel razor with "Closecut" heads. That little travel razor is fantastic and I still have it. In time, the Philips 1150x needed a head replacement so I looked at putting that cost towards something with "Closecut" heads like the PQ208. The Philips 2100 has these and my first shave was exactly what I was looking for. The shave is comparable to my PQ208 but with a bulkier motor and a more durable head for daily home use. Note that the Philips 2100 will not run corded. Philips' answer to this is a warning light that flashes when you have five shaves left. This worked extremely well for me with the 1150x so I don't anticipate having to resort to my travel razor or backup unit at work. I know that people rave about high-cost razors but I can't relate to that. Just use whatever works best for you. It may take some trial and error to get there.

Overall I'm very impressed with this razor. I always struggled with normal razors as the left my skin irritated if I tried to get a close shave. This razor, however, gives a very close shave with almost no irritation (only on the neck). Having had this for 1.5 years it basically works like when I first got it requires almost no maintenance (just a quick rinse after use - I never did anything more than that). In terms of battery, it lasts a long time probably about a week (maybe a little more) on one charge. Overall for $30 I don't think it gets better than this. My only complaint is that it's slow it takes SEVERAL passes to not miss hairs here and there it definitely takes longer to use this than a normal blade - for me through this is worth it to not have the skin irritation and having to constantly buy new blades. Overall I highly recommend.

DON'T WAIT ANYMORE!!! I had an old (and I mean really old) but more expensive model which I would not give up on even when I could olny get 2 shaves on a single battery charge. I would buy new blades ($25 or higher) and get a decent shave. After so many times of having a battery go dead in the middle of a shave I broke down and purchased this new 2100. Now I could kick myself in the butt for waiting. Will never buy the most expensive model as this shaver last though many many shaves and gives better result than the old one. Oh by the way did i mention I like this new shaver?

I've been using electric shavers for about 5 years. I have tried the more expensive models, both foil and rotary. I stopped using all of them and stayed with the inexpensive ones. I currently have just the Norelco AT830 ($40.00 at Walmart) and this one. My point is, if you need the more expensive models because you think the bells and whistles that come with them make for a better shave you'll probably be disappointed to find that what you are getting is a shave from an electric razor. And most likely the same as what this one provides. The only difference I see is the charge time. The instructions say 8 hours but it only took 6, which is still longer than all the others I've owned, but I can live with it. Most other reviews say this is a good razor for beginners, but as I stated at the beginning, I'm not a beginner. Try this razor. I think you'll be pleased with it's performance. Norelco and all the others stand by their trial periods if you aren't satisfied. I know. The expensive ones were returned for full refund. Hope this helps in your decision, and I hope I've saved you a few bucks to boot.

I have purchased four of these kinds of shavers, plus one foil-style razors, to go bald on my face and head. I'll get right to it: of all the disc style razors I have, this one does it for me. I have to cut regularly because the closeness is a hair longer than one of the others I use. But the motor torque pushes this over the top, all the way. All the other shavers don't quite have the power to keep the rev speed stable. They always seem to slow down, which means you must shave slowly & go over more often. But this Norelco has power and it sounds effortless. I do my face and head with this, then rub over my skin with my hands & follow in spots where the Norelco doesn't quite get the micro stubble. But I'd be happy going out without finishing with the other shaver. If my shavers don't have the power, it's just not worth the purchase to me.

For the price, this razor is a major bargain. I have a black (and silver) beard, sensitive skin and a five o'clock shadow at 10 am. When I finish shaving every day, my face feels as soft and free of stubble as if I ripped my face up with an old fashioned non-electric razor. I would recommend this razor to friends and anyone who wants a great shave without nicks and cuts.

This is fantastic. First of all, you can't beat the price. I got sick of constant ingrown hairs with using a straightedge. So, I tried this out and I highly recommend it. In order to have a buttery smooth shave, you need to use the green letric shave (preshave) Lectric Shave Pre-Shave Original 3 oz (Pack of 2). Before you use the shaver, make sure you put a warm cloth on your face to open your pours. Then, put the shaver under hot water for a few minutes to get the blades warm. Then, pour letric shave on your blades and your face with a cotton ball and shave. If you follow this process, you will have the best shave ever, with no ingrown hairs. Hope this helps.

I am a woman and enjoy my men's razor for shaving my legs. If you're a woman, do not use these on underarms like I did. I had razor rash for a week, just in case you were wondering. I buy this brand and Remington every year. Its cheaper to buy a brand new razor instead of the replacement heads, but they last all year on my legs, so I only buy this around Christmas time. I'll keep buying every year. This just means that when I can't find the charger, I have multiple backups. Works great and lasts all year even with my wife and I using it constantly. Much better design than the women's razors they sell. Not sure why women's razors suck so much when we need to cover more area than guys who use it on the face only. Would recommend this product.
