it's not pretty, but EXTREMELY EASY to use. It is adequately built. Saved many $$$ recovering files from old sata drive taken from a failed computer. pkugged it into an 120v outlet, and a usb port on the computer, and began the transfer when I was done working on computer. Speed is adequate, though not great. Took about 2 hours to transfer to a USB3.0 drive. I have 3 other sata's that I don't know what is on them and haven't thrown away yet, so I be able to take a peek and then delete all their data before tossing.

Very Useful

The is a very useful device for erasing data from other people's hard drive for their protections. You do have to be careful when inserting the drives to get things lined up correctly. Other than that it is very easy to use. I am using it running Windows 10 with not drivers required. Great for doing backups too.

VERY Easy to Use

Do you have an old computer laying around that has broken, but you miss your old files? This was my dilemma with my old, secondhand PC, and I haven't touched it in years! All you have to do is remove the hard drive from the tower and insert it into the machine, and then plug it in. It is very simple to use and it was such a rush seeing all of my old files again! Now, there are exceptions. I'm not very hardware savvy but I would definitely check with your local tech expert or fellow amazon users to make sure this will fit your hard drive before you go buying it. This is a great, simple option for those of us who might be a bit intimidated by opening up our cases or use smaller laptops!

Perfect!!!

Got it at my doorstep in 2 days - great packaging. I had an old laptop quit running, it would power show power and I could here the fan but then nothing, tried every fix known to man then decided it was time to let her go. I had some old photos, videos, MP3's I never backed up and really didn't want to lose them so I tried this unit to try and save the hard drive. Opened the box, added the old HD, plugged in to my office laptop, powered it up and it worked perfectly! Old HD works well and I saved all my data. Now I have a backup drive that I will get some backup software and use it as that. Thank you Wavlink!!!

Excellent product.

Great product. 1) It works. 2) Transfer speeds are outstanding. 3) It was simple plug and play, with Windows 10 recognizing drives immediately. 4) It is very intelligently designed. The open design allows the drives to run cool - even cooler than the internal drives being "cooled" by fans. Hard drives run hot. Full enclosures cause hard drives used as externals to fail as they simply run excessively hot. This design is great. Also, the design allows for easy switch out of drives. I bought two - and they both work great.

Does the trick

Does the trick, I've never hot swapped any drive but what I need to do to backup two iMacs works flawlessly, and as opposed to other enclosures it is very quiet. One should say the quietness depends on the drive not on the enclosure but I've tried the same drives in other enclosures and they make a lot of noise, when on this one no sound whatsoever.

Simple & Works well!

I was skeptical at first when I opened the package. I needed it for a 3.5" hard drive and it did not have the normal 4-prong power supply connections for 3.5" drives. However, it is working great! Although it is low voltage, I appreciate that it has a power switch as well so it is not sipping power when I don't need it. I also appreciate that I can use it for both 2.5" and 3.5" since I have some laptop drives I'll need to recover.

A VERY satisfied customer experience

This device absolutely saved me a ton of money! Totally plug n play, just removed my hard drive from an old computer that had bit the dust, dropped into this thing and ta-da! I can use the old drive exactly as if it were never missing. Would have cost me a bundle to go somewhere to have it backed up onto a new desktop. FAST delivery under Prime, and more than what I expected. Thank you!!!!!

A lot of bang for you buck.

Excellent product that works at lightning speed when hooked to USB 3.0. Would have given it 5 stars in value except that you can get duo drive units for just a few dollars more. However, I just needed to use one external at a time (I'm hot swapping 5 hard drives) so it's smaller form factor was a selling point for me.
