It was easy to install. Device is smaller than I ve expected. But! Don't let appearances fool you.. This badboy gave a good improvement about sound quality (Previous:Realtek High Definition Audio.). Lows are kicking better and highs are shining. I'm extremely happy with the purchase. Headphone amp is great. High amplification setting is too much for my headphones (Kingston HyperX Cloud). Also I ve plugged my Creative GigaWorks T3 2.1 to line out. When I remove headphones 3.5mm jack it automatically starts using speakers. I'm playing Battlefield 4 regularly. I can't say much about it but I guess I do better scores when I'm using scout mode . Why I didnt bought an internal sound card? I was hearing interference from my headphones when I use my mobo's output. also if I decide to build a micro ITX system I can use this device and a GPU. I can use this device pretty much with every device. You should consider this too ;)

I'm a huge fan of Creative and the whole SoundBlasterX G series. I had the G5 also. The sidetone on this thing is amazing. Whether it's connected by itself via USB or double amped on Xbox I get really good feedback on my voice talking. It's also great that you can adjust the sidetone on the fly with the volume wheel. I like how there is basically no static back onto the headset. I use 150 ohm headphones and when I set the amp to high power mode I don't hear a hiss noise. I also like how the amp presets are set for 16 - 149 ohm and 150 - 600 ohm. With the previous gen G5 I didn't know what setting to use because my headphones were 150 ohm. I'm glad they clarify this now. It does suck that there's no hardware based profile button anymore. With the G5 I used to like adding more and less bass on the fly while on console but now you have to hook it back up to a PC to adjust settings. I don't like that USB chat doesnt work for Xbox. There needs to he a hardware or software based voice/game volume balance for console also. This thing is great on PC. The software let's you adjust anything you want. It even has RGB lighting for the X logo. The new discrete X amp provides a difference. Sounds seem more separated and independent of each other. There's a whole cleaner sound to this compared to the G5. I like how it now recognizes Dolby Digital through optical. Despite some missing features from the G5, it adds a bunch more so it's best to compare the specs. Audio quality is way better on this in my opinion.

Let me First talk about what I came from before moving to this. I have a Asus Maximus Code X motherboard and it has supposed 32-bit on board Audio (Realtek Chipset). I used to think it had good audio....(now I just shake my head in shame) This little thing the size of a desk of cards, plugs in with a USB cable. and absolutely blows my on Board Audio out of the Water. Not only that, but my Head phones all three Pairs of them Sound AMAZING now, and My speakers, its like they are brand new, and so powerful. It Improved Steel Series Arctis 7's, Turtle Beach Elite Atlas's (using 3.5mm) by a really surprising amount. I used to have to turn my headphones to about volume 50-60 on most games and Music, now I cant turn it past 22-24, IT IS way to loud now. The headphones can handle it, but my ears can't take more volume than this. It is Amazing. I now get crystal Clear 32-bit 96khz Spoken Dialog, Amazing 7.1 Surround (yes 32-bit 96khz even in Surround) and Perfect Stereo 2 channel in 32-bit 384khz Audio for Even more Crystal Clear perfect audio (of course this depends on your source... but honestly this DAC makes everything sound better than it did before. It also made my Klipsch 2.1 BT Desktop Speakers Thump hard as hell. I had to turn my bass down on my speakers as they now are much louder than ever before. Listening to music with this is a whole new experience, and seriously if you thought your headphones were nice before you have a whole new world of music to listen to again. The EQ Settings are excellent, and varied, From Dance to RnB to Classical and Acoustic and they have many presets for so many games. ( I honestly thought geeze there are too many almost). If you don't want to use their presets, no problem create your own. You can tailor your Sound to Direct, 2 channel, 5.1, 7.1 Virtual , and even change the type of speakers you are using which affects the frequency response allowances in the Equalizers. You can choose Headphones, Desktop, Bookshelf, Towers, you name it, all of which change your sound, or go full custom with the EQ. One thing I love about this is that your Keyboard volume and mute controls still work like you'd expect, even though you have controls right on the DAC itself for volume and Surround etc. I have the Logitech G910 Keyboard, and it works flawlessly with this DAC for Adjusting volume ever so slightly, Muting completely. The reason I bring this up is because I had a Pair of 2018 Arctis Pro's + Game DAC and it took all controls away from Windows. and it sucked having to reach over and adjust the Knob constantly, also the Arctic pros Software Sucks too, no where near as many features. and no discernible sound difference from the Arctis 7's I already own (which are a really good Headset too). The installation of this DAC is literally a breeze, Download the Software, The Driver, AND the latest 2018 Firmware update for Windows 10.. and you are Golden.. Trust me.. this is very easy to setup and configure. One Extremely Important thing to note about this DAC, it has no Battery, it is not Portable in the sense that you can use it to amplify headphones on the go etc, (this is a Good thing because Batteries die) It must always be plugged into a USB port or a USB to wall outlet Adapter to provide power. The build quality appears to be Excellent and I almost wonder if Creative Labs didn't shoot themselves in the foot by releasing this over top of their X7 External Unit, which is only 24bit/192khz. I totally understand the different use scenarios of the two, but for the Sound quality and the compact size of this thing, at less than half the price of the X7 many PC Audiophiles will not make the jump to the bulky big block, even if they want to Hook up Larger Speakers, or Headphones. This Begs the question... When will Creative release the X8 or X9.. with 32-bit 384khz High Fidelity Certified Audio? Count me in. Closing Pros: -Extremely Compact -Extremely Excellent Sound Quality 32-bit 384 Khz in 2 channel and 32-bit 96khz in 7.1 -Amazingly Easy Setup -Excellent Windows 10 Drivers that just work ( Yes Really) (REMEMBER THE FIRMWARE UPDATE) -Connections allow for Headphone and MIC Connections in the Front, and your Desktop Speakers in Back. ( yes at the same time.) -Excellent Presets and Equalizer customization, for a ton of games..(You'll see) -Excellent Software -Really Good Virtual Surround -ON DAC controls for Volume, Surround, Gain, and Scout Mode -Worth every penny of the 150.00 price tag, (I would've paid more honestly) -RGB!!! Mine is set to RED... just Solid Red.. the way things outta be. -Minimal desk Space consumption ( if that's a thing for you.. it could be a thing.. just saying) -Flawless for both Games and Music -Makes Your Headphones Scream and your Speakers Thump.. All for 150.00 Hope you guys Love this thing as much as I do!!

PROS: - Great sound quality. - Really powerful amp! Powers my HD58X loudly enough, even at Low Gain. - Better Surround Sound implementation compared to the Astro MixAmp (the Astro has that echo/airy feel when surround is activated - but I suppose this would depend on your taste) - Note: to get 5.1 dolby surround on the PS4, connect the soundblaster via optical instead of USB. CONS: - A firmware update is essentially required, as it fixes some sound issues reported by early adopters. Other things you may need to consider: - No chatmix control. I mostly play single-player games so it doesn't matter for me. - The Scout and SBX modes are hit and miss depending on the game you're playing. I suggest you keep these turned off as the Flat/Base EQ is already good enough.

This thing works great. I previously used the Sennheiser GSX1000 gaming DAC/amp which was totally awesome as well as the Sennheiser G4meZero headphones. The GS6 is noticeably better. Plus I got the Beyerdynamics 990 Pro 250 ohm headphones which help too. The sound quality is amazing. I don’t understand what the poor reviews are about. The virtual 7.1 is good too. I played Overwatch and switched back and forth between my old and new setup each game to better identify the differences between the two. After a few hours of play I became very surprised I played with the Sennheiser setup for so long. At the time I got the Sennheiser setup it was still way better than using onboard audio on motherboards, but after playing for a few hours I’ve come to feel the GS6 and 990 headphones blow my previous Sennheiser setup out of the water. The setup wasn’t hard. The build quality could be a bit better. It feels lightweight and cheap, but it definitely functions well which matters most. The GSX1000 build quality is much nicer than this. The GSX1000 microphone pass through has no latency. The GS6 has a little latency. Not as extreme as others have described. Still not a big enough of an issue for me to give up the GS6. The sound output is too good to give up. For all those who disagree at the very least give us your alternative recommendations. It isn’t helpful if you say the GS6 sucks and don’t tell us what a better option is. I’m open to try something else.

Background: -I bought this product for music Production and Gaming -This is the first time I buy a Blaster or any other product from Creative -This is the first time I buy a Soundcard that doesn't come with my mother board -I'm moving to 32bit from 16bit After researching for quite a while, I found out that most 32bit soundcards cost around 250$-400$ and are NOT portable. Since I move a lot between PCs and also use Nintendo Switch, I thought it may worth a try. ---------------------- Product Look: -The device itself looks very good, it has a smart button layout and is not heavy as it may look -It has lights around buttons so you're able to know which mode is on when it's dark -The RGB logo in the middle is very cool and has options for color, cycling speed and more through the "Sound Blaster Connect 2" software on their site -It has a nice light around the "volume wheel" but unfortunately you cannot change it's color apart from white/red -The top surface is pretty reflective so it looks very nice around Leds/Lamps (see in pictures) ----------------------- Softwares: -There's a Driver, Firmware Update and "Sound Blaster Connect 2" you have to download manually from their site. It can get annoying to re-download it on multiple PCs but it goes pretty fast. -Inside the software you can switch between various sound settings modes that are made for specific usage There are modes for: Gaming, Music, Movie, FPS and famous sound-sensitive games like: CS:GO, Fortnite, COD, Overwatch, Rocket League and Dota 2 -There are also "Voice Morphing' options that are disturbingly realistic ------------------------------------- Sound: -It amplifies sound VERY potently, to a point I can use my headphones like Speakers (DT 990 PRO) -It allows you to hear a TON of detail you never heard without it, the music I produced before using it sounds 5x deeper and detailed now, to a point it's boosting the confidence I have about the quality of my stuff. -I feel like I can now master my tracks and harmony to a greater depth, I love the level of sensitivity it gives me to play around with. -It also decreases potently the delay between pressing my midi keyboard to hearing the result, even with multiple heavy samples (Make sure that you choose "Creative Sound Blaster Asio Device" as a sound device inside your DAW) ------------------------------ Cons: -The main material looks metallic but isn't -The device CAN get pretty hot after few hours of usage -The bottom of the device feels fragile and weak if you apply even minimal force on it -There is no physical Off/On "Power button" anywhere on the card, means I cannot instantly hear my stuff without enhancements -There is no option to change the adjustment wheel's color/color intensity (as far as I know) -The USB it comes with is way too short for a "portable" card -VERY VERY small letters on the Warranty information that come's inside the box ------------------------------ Tips: *You should use a longer Mini-USB *You WILL need to re-adjust to some of your games, this card gives you depth and intensity you never played with before *You should find the right software/mixer settings that will fit your game-play and headphones *You need to Manually change the Hz/Bit Value to 32bit Studio Quality on your PC's Sound Device options *Some games/applications doesn't support 32bit, in these cases you will need to go down to 24bit 44.1hz . (Examples I know of: Osu!, League of Legends, Borderlands The Pre-Sequel)

listen, this amplifier is the best ive ever owned i only tested 1 other which was the astro mix amp tr pro. sound quality for the g6 it exceeded my expectations! sound stage is phenomenal! i play ALOT of PUBG fps games and if you want a good amplifier with super sound quality then this amplifier is right for you . now, i read that ALOT of people are saying you cant use a mic with the g6 now its true XBOX ONE dont allow it however, i got a fix, it requires you to have a laptop or computer. how i did it i bought me a microphone plugged it on the computer , then i got a aux cable ran that to my tv cause thats how i got my set up and plugged it in the back of the computer IN the mic component (green plug in) THEN i downloaded the xbox one application and send invites to ppl i want to play. and there you go so not only will you have full quality sound coming out your headset or headphone or whatever you are using to plug in the g6 but you can also hear )party chat)through the tv and communicate with party using ANY microphone . i also did a test on a computer speaker and it works flawlessly! NOTE: that the power usb cable of the g6 be plugged in ANYWHERE but.. the computer or else this technique WONT work. i hope anyone reading my review will find it quite helpful. happy gaming and oh one more thing, i got it as advertised 2 days!!!!!! for that, thank you amazon prime! A quick note before i forget. (please consider buying a better quialty toslink to mini optical cable cause the one that comes with the g6 feels very cheap and the cord is super short aswell as the usb type b cable) (OR if ANYTHING download the xbox one app on your phone, buy you some loud earbuds and there you have it chat and full spectrum sound quality!)

Bought the SoundblasterX G5 as I wanted an alternative to the Astro Mixamp. I play on PS4 only and own both the 2013 and Mixamp TR versions but wasnt happy with the sound quality. Im not a fan of virtual surround sound so i never used that feature. I basically was using the mixamp as a amplifier. Did some research on the G5 and bought it. Setup was super easy and it works incredibly. The overall volume is much louder than either mixamp yet has much better quality. Currently alternating between a Logitech G Pro headset and the Hyperx Cloud Alpha and the G5 drives them without breaking a sweat. Very impressed with the G5 and highly recommend if you want a dac/amplifier but don't want a mixamp.

Well, I have not been a Creative fan, mainly due to the software issues and the software "bloating" that had to be installed. However, this has turned out to be a gem. I had absolutely no issue installing this product. You download the firm ware, then the software and then the control panel for adjustment and its works great. Easy to make adjustments or you can pick one of the already loaded setups for gaming. They do put the mic adjustment in an unusual place as you have to look under settings for recording, but I guess they figure if you are going to record then you need access to the mic, or that was their logic. Better if it was on the home page. But I have been gaming with it so far and it has not been a problem. It does get loud and you can manually adjust the base to your liking. You can also use the equalizer if you so chose and just play around with the software settings. Unfortunately you have to make all your adjustments on the PC and it does not have an external power source so that is something they should look into for console gaming. This is a major oversight by Creative. I am still playing around with the sound card/amplifier and it's software to see the various differences, but there are a lot of adjustments. As to previous reviews about a popping sound or cracking, I have not heard any, so evidently the current firmware update as address that issue. So far, so good.

I use a Manni uber / modi uber stacked. Most my headphones are 250 ohm to 600. I bought this for work and to use its gaming processing because i can actually pass digital into my dac and amp and still use creatives 7.1 vr sound..But i find myself using this little thing over my 300 dollar setup! Thing thing is driving my headphones harder then my desktop amp i have to use high gain for say my dt 250 pro I started off like this and instantly got distortion because of the to much juice was going to the headphones , pretty Amazing for how small the device is. The Dac on this thing is awesome! Its got a tad more bass then my desktop Dac but its controlled. If you are looking for an external card that can output very good vr 7.1 then this is it. Enough so for me to pull out of dgx i was using. This thing is no joke its just as good at my desktop amp and can for some reason better drive my high end headphones. It works and it works well. no noise that i can tell coming from the usb.
