I purchased this and added it to my other cycling winter gear. I have 2 regular thermal caps, another that covers over your ears, and a neoprene balaclava. The balaclava with the neoprene facing kept me warm and was great, but an issue I had was drinking water as the face did not open. This mask however will allow me to move the head cover and the face cover independently of each other. The face mask looks like it is full mesh, but on the inside it is fleece lined at the nose and chin so only your mouth gets an opening. I'll update when I actually wear it.

I bought the half balaclava because I am recently diagnosed cancer patient who has an issue with the cold as a side effect. The first thing I noticed is that it fit well. I have a huge head! The mesh in the breathing area and the "cup" for your chin are perfect and I would suspect will be for anyone else. Secondly, the quality of the piece is obvious. It's well crafted and looks sharp. Thirdly, it does what its supposed to. It keeps my face warm and more importantly for me, keeps the air I breath in warm enough to keep me from feeling the side effects of treatment!

This thing is awesome! I wear it on my 25 min walk to/from work in sub-zero temps and it keeps me nice and toasty. The mesh ventilator is great! It obviously still gets moist but it is perfectly placed to let my breath escape. I plan to purchase another one to use for running.

Worth every penny. This ski mask is really quite amazing for as thin and light as it is. It really keeps the wind off of all areas you cover with it. And it’s pretty good for warmth too. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a fur coat for your head, but it is a great layer that doesn’t diminish your ability to move freely. I ride my horse here in Tennessee down to the teens, and my scarf wasn’t cutting it. I now use this under my cowboy hat, and its “The bees knees.” I do pull it back off my forehead so the hat isn’t too tight, but it keeps my face, ears, nose and neck quite comfortable. And with this and the hat, it don’t lose too much heat from my balding noggin. One last comment. You can cover only what you want with this, just the neck, or up to the ears, to the mouth, over the nose, or the whole head. Stays in place. Definately a good purchase.

I purchased this last year ahead of participating in an outdoor hockey tournament in Eagle River, WI in February. Temps ranged from single digits to high 20s and this was perfect. In fact, with the physical activity I got warm enough that midway through each game I’d pull the face cover down to expose my face. It’s warm, fits well and is thin enough that it fits comfortably under a hockey helmet so I imagine it would work well for its intended purpose of skiing or snowboarding. Love this and have recommended it to others on my team for this year’s tournament in February.

Now it’s about that time again here in Chicago, and every morning walking into work it’s really cold and I hate scarfs because they are overly bulky and my ears still get cold. So I found this, I was worried it would be to big but it wasn’t. It fit me just fine and it worked perfectly. My neck was warm, I was able to breathe okay and my ears stayed warm too. It fit under my jacket perfectly and I didn’t feel the brisk cold air across my neck. It really worked perfectly. Shipping was better then expected, originally said it would be here Thursday but it came a day early. Overall I’m very happy and I would buy more.

Living in Florida I didn't think I would have much use for this. I purchased this ski mask for the few days it gets cold in the winter. My primary mode of transportation is a scooter and I wear a 3/4 helmet so I wanted to keep the wind off my neck. Wouldn't you know it, just a couple of days after the ski mask arrived and we had a cold snap. When I headed to work it was only 30 degrees out, and I was driving at about 70 MPH down I-75. Although I felt the wind pushing on the mask, I was never cold. The advertisement states that it is helmet friendly, and I can attest to that. The helmet I have normally is snug, and there was no problem putting it on while I was wearing this mask. It was also really easy to pull down around my neck when I went into my bank; don't want to cause the tellers to reach for the panic button. Pulling it back up and on my head was just as quick as pulling it down. My only complaint I have is that I didn't buy this years ago.

Definitely great for sealing out the wind when riding. However, if I pull the front up over my nose, I INSTANTLY get all kinds of ridiculous fog inside my visor (full-face helmet), even with anti-fog treatments. The only solution I've found is to simply pull the front of the mask down so that the nose part sits just below my lower lip - no more fog, and my neck and chin stay warm. The fact that it's deliberately designed in such a way to allow for different methods of wear is probably why this is possible, and as such, I can't really dock this thing a star for that at all. It does great doing what it does (keeping my neck and chin warm and wind-free), and it's well-made enough that I'm not afraid to run it through the washing machine and dryer regularly. If you ride a lot in the cooler months, then it's totally worth picking up at least a couple of these. Seems a bit too thick/warm to wear during the summer months, but this isn't really designed for that kind of weather, anyway.

I used this to climb Kilimanjaro and was happy with it. I researched other options before settling on this one. It was easy to breathe through and lightweight. It also covered my face and ears well and kept the chill out. I did use a fleece lined buff for more warmth at high altitude with temps in the teens. The only issue I had is that the top would slide back on my head under my wool hat. I solved the issue by simply pulling the balaclava further down on my forehead beyond my wool beanie. I was happy with this, esp at the price point. I spent so much money buying gear for Kili and am glad I didn't buy a different balaclava costing 3x as much.

I used this snowmobiling in Maine this past winter. Bought it based on good reviews. I go no matter how cold, often sledding when it is near zero or below, and I don't shy away from speed. This really did the job. It fights off the wind as it promises, and I give 5 stars when items behave as promised. Kept my neck warm, kept the wind from getting up under my helmet, and kept the wind from getting down the V at the top of my coat zipper. Exactly what I hoped for when I bought it. Highly recommend.
