I have two cats, a male about 15 lbs and a female about 10 lbs. Bought this as I was moving in with my boyfriend who has many collectibles we don't want the cats destroying and we both work long shifts. I was really worried this cage wasn't going to be big enough for the two cats but I am thrilled to say it has tons of space and the cats love it. The construction is really sturdy and the colour is a really nice gun-metal gray. It didn't take us too long to put it together. It has enough room to put a full sized covered litter box on the bottom along with their food/water bowls. And yes my big kitties fit on the shelves with plenty of space. Actually both cats like to sleep together on one. The wheels are a great bonus because I can put the cage outside when it gets warm and they can enjoy the fresh air on the patio without escaping (they are indoor exclusive). When we're home I of course let them out, and they actually go in there to sleep just because (or sleep on top of the cage itself) :P. Anyways really happy as I was concerned it would be really small and cramped for the cats but I was so wrong!

This product really came through for us and probably saved a life. An evening stroll around the area ends abruptly when we hear desperate animal cries for help. We look across the street by the highway we were walking along and see this pathetic little kitten curled up shaking as cars are whizzing by. As soon as I crossed the street this filthy fluff ball ran over to me screaming for help. So I scooped him up and brought him back over to the other side. Looking around it became clear that he was probably dumped by a car. (There was an empty box next to him as well) When we put him down and attempted to walk away hoping he would go home this screaming and clearly limping tiny mess came hobbling back up to us and our giant Great Dane. He wouldn't stop crying and appeared to be severely dehydrated so we couldn't just leave him to die. We set him up outside with food and water and watched him as he ravenously consumed as much as he could get down within minutes. We did what we could for the night. The next morning we took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with a skin infection, and a broken leg. Two days after his release from quarantine I go to clean the litter box and notice there isn't a lot of pee in the box. Oh please tell me he isn't peeing on our stuff. Not too long after, I watch him attempt to pee on our shoes. Then it was the kitchen floor, clothes, curtains. Back to quarantine. OMG, WHAT do we do now? Fortunately, we caught it before he peed on something that couldn't be properly washed. Call the vet, not a lot of help with this one there. So I turned to the Internet. I found a lot of information but no real answers other than the fact that he may never get it right. What do we do with a sickly cat that doesn't like using the litter-box and can't be left outside? Most cats get it right away. This one was sleeping behind the toilet on the plunger and toilet brush that he had just peed on which was inches away from his litter box. The little kitten that doubled in size in two weeks was now losing all his hair and living in our bathroom until a solution could be found. All he wants is to be loved. We couldn't pass the problem onto someone else or he would wind up in the shelter or worse. He can't be an outdoor cat for some time, if at all. After a ton of research and vet bills we decided we had to keep him confined and teach him all over again. We didn't want him to live in the bathroom any longer either. Finally I found this cat home from the company I get my bird products from. This product IS the solution we were looking for. As with most Prevue Pet Products, it had to be put together. I did it alone and it wasn't difficult to do. The assembly took me about 30 minutes to complete. All the pieces but one fit perfectly together. The one piece that I had trouble with was one of the metal connector bars. I was able to use a hammer to gently tap it down into place though. Pros: Easy to assemble Size Matters - room to sleep, play, dine, and use the kitty facilities Hammocks are durable and easy to wash Shelf Liners are easy to remove and wash Spacing between bars is safe Large door openings allow for easy access on each level Provides a go to "safe zone" for your kitty Gives you and your kitty Time to work together Price = good Cons: One of the Metal connectors had to be "forced" into place There really isn't anything I can find that would be cause to dislike this product. Whether you have a problem cat that needs retraining, or a new addition that needs to be quarantined/trained, this product is awesome! If you are fostering or considering to be a foster, you should consider this product. The next time someone says "I don't know what to do, my cat is ruining my belongings" or "I can't keep him anymore, (s)he pees on everything". Tell them about this product.

I am a foster home for my local humane society and I purchased this cage to replace an old shelter cage that I was using. This new cage is larger so there is more room for the the mom cat and her kittens. The cage appears well designed and sturdy. The platforms are a good size and snap in to the bars of the cages and seems stable. The base is on wheels and it is very easy to move around. The doors are great, love them. They provide a large opening for easy access to the litter box and the kittens and their mom. The cons: personally I found this cage very difficult to put together and I feel that it will be a pain to take down, actually I will probably not even bother to try to take the cage down and just roll it to a storage area when it is not being used for fostering. The hammock seems like it was designed for light weight cats. I wish it had a slide-out plastic base tray for easy cleaning but the bottom and top door openings is so wide that I can actually fit my upper body in, so cleaning should not be to difficult. I have 4 pictures. One picture is the old cage next to my new cage for comparison and in one of the picture is my dog (who is about 22-24 lbs) inside the cage investigating it before I put the foster mom and her kittens in it.

Waited a bit to review this item to see how it would hold up. Have been very happy with it and the cats love it. My mother has concerns that cats may climb up sides and top (which they do) and get their toes caught so we wheel it out of the room if we are not going to be home to keep an eye on them. That said, I have yet to see them get their toes caught, so it is probably not a big issue. The box this comes in is huge and has lots of foam padding to keep wire panels safe. The two sides of the outer box are still in our house since the cats love playing in them so much. Assembly can be a bit of a struggle and having strong hands helps. Getting sections lined up properly and getting the plastic connectors on correctly can be slow going - be patient and careful. We decided against using the hammocks since one of our cats seems to get tangled up in stuff easily. The shelves come with fabric liners and little plastic buttons to hold the liners in place. Our cats decided that pulling the liners off and buttons out was a game so those are not in use. The unit is on wheels and will fit through a standard doorway. Just push slowly and carefully. The cats jumping around the shelves do cause the cage to move a bit but the noise becomes background fairly quickly. We bought 2 small dog beds to put on the bottom and the cats love to sleep in those. The beds also provide padding when one cat shoves another off a shelf. Naturally, hair will collect in the cage for a quick going over with the vacuum hose attachment takes care of that. Glad we bought this. The cats love to hang out in it with the doors open. When we have to get them out of the way quick, it is easy to pop them all in quickly (they are indoor cats and we worry when we have deliveries, workmen, etc.). When one of them gets too rough with siblings or is being a pill in general, the cage is a great time-out place.

We were all out of ideas on what to do with two cats who just don't like each other. One of them started territorial marking over a year ago. After trying numerous things and having her urine checked numerous times, changing her diet, buying feliway spray and plugins, getting separate litter boxes and food/water stations, and using enzymatic cleaner we just could not get the cats to get along or stop the territorial marking. At the end of our options and ideas we considered giving one of them up but finding a home for an adult cat (especially one that is marking or should maybe be an only cat in the household) is nearly impossible. I don't even remember how I stumbled upon the Prevue Pet Deluxe Cat Home but after reading all the reviews I wanted to give it a try. We introduced our territorial cat to it slowly by putting her in a separate room for a few days with the cat home in the room with her and all doors open. We moved her litter box and food/water bowls into the cat home and filled it with cozy blankets. As with other reviewers, we removed the hammocks and added an extra perch (which you will need to order separately). We also added a cat lounger/scratcher. We allowed her a few days to get used to the cage and coming in and out of it. She took to it rather quickly and within a day or two she was lounging in it on her own. Once she was comfortable with it we closed it up and rolled it into our family room. She meowed for a few minutes but settled down quickly. Once she was calm in the family room we would make it a point to love on her and pet her when she was relaxed and quiet. We also noticed that when the other cat passes the cage there is no longer hissing or growling. Now that she is used to the cage and relaxed in it, we roll her into our son's room and open the cage doors and let her come and go, sit by the window, lay on the bed and play but she will go back into it when she's tired or just to lounge. We close the cage doors when she is unsupervised and at night. She seems to have no objections to this. Some things I would recommend or learned during this process: 1. This is a terrific solution for a multi cat household where you're dealing with aggression or territorial marking. Our cats were litter mates and one incident seemed to make them enemies. This is a great solution if you don't want to abandon your cat and have exhausted all other options. 2. Take it slow and easy. Let your cat get used to the cage on his/her own time. Make it a relaxing and inviting place and place food/water bowls inside as well as their litter box. 3. As other reviews mentioned, the wheels SUCK. We bought 2 inch/50mm caster wheels at our local ACE and they are much sturdier and roll much more easily especially on our thick Frise' carpet. I will attach a photo of the casters to this review. 4. Give your cat the opportunity to get out of the cage and play/exercise in a safe area but take the cage with you and leave it open. They will go back to it and then you can simply close the doors and roll them to their normal spot. 5. Order an extra perch or two especially if you have a larger cat. 6. Toss a blanket or towel over one of the perches on the top for a little extra privacy. She seems to prefer this spot. 7. Don't go to the cage if the cat is meowing and protesting. Go to the cage and give affection when the cat is quiet and calm. Another big tip. Watch the ORDER of how you assemble the walls. Make sure you note which pieces have clamps and which don't so when you're finished assembling you don't have to take it back apart. Also the slider bars, make sure you slide them with the half moon facing the interior of the cage.

I have a cat who for his entire life has had some issues with properly using his litter box. He's always been this way since we've had him. He will poop just outside of his box and he pees wherever he wants, only using the box sporadically every once in awhile. He also never buries his mess when he does use the box. I've tried everything; from different litters to different boxes, to watching him closely and rewarding good litter use; I've even discussed the issue with 3 different vets. Nothing has kept him consistently using the box the way he is supposed to. My home is tile throughout because he has ruined many carpets with this issue, the tile hasn't stopped him however. The issue was out of control, we were finding puddles of pee everywhere. So now when we aren't home or when we're all sleeping he stays in the kennel. This has forced him to start using the box! And now even when he's out and about he uses the box on his own! (He still doesn't bury -- but I can live with that) I honestly can't believe the turn around I've seen in him. I thought this would never end, but it's been weeks since I've had to mop up pee! What a lifesaver! He did hate the kennel at first but now he's actually quite comfortable in it and will even go hang out in there of his own free will. We keep the kennel in one spot in our home so I have to issues with the wheels as other reviewers apparently have. The cage is very sturdy our cat weighs about 12lbs and he can move and jump around freely. The platforms are sturdy and hold his weight no problem. The thin piece of fabric on the platforms does come up very easily but that's really not a big deal. Also, I put this thing together 100% by myself in under an hour; very easy to assemble. I did not use the hammocks as my cat is too big for them, I do wish this came with an extra platform instead of the hammocks; but extra platforms can be ordered for about $15 a piece. Overall, this a great product that has literally saved my home and my sanity!

We were looking for somewhere to put our cat while 6-week long home renovations were going on. She doesn't like to be locked up in a room, so there weren't a lot of options. We ordered this cage, put it in front of the window with lots of birds coming by, and it's been a great solution. We put a bed sheet hanging from the top to reduce stress from watching strange people come in and out. Our cat even hangs out in there on the weekends. We removed the felt mats from the ledges because they kept coming off. The only issue we had was, upon arrival, the base of the cage was broken. I sent an email off to the manufacturer and they sent out a replacement part immediately.

Awesome cat cage. Nice quality. The only con would be that they should offer either ramps or more shelving. I did figure out that you can order additional shelves from the manufacturer. However, the cost of shipping is high. I ordered 3 extra shelves because I foster tiny kittens. Each shelf was only $8 plus shipping and they said shipping was $36 because each self would ship separately. I asked them to package all 3 in one box to save on shipping. They did. Awesome! They were very helpful. As you can see in the pic, I added the extra shelves and also created 2 separate cage areas for separate litter isolation until all are healthy. Used a lightweight pice of wood on top of 2 shelves to create the separation. Works great.

I bought this for a farm cat who got scratched by an animal and needed to be rabies quarantined. I had a small cage but since it has to be quarantined for 6 months, I felt bad and bought it something bigger. The cage is very roomy and give him plenty of room. The shelves are sturdy and he has no problem jumping from on to the other. He does not like the hammock so I removed it. I will offer one suggestion....I recommend buying a high sided litter box (not in pic). The litter was getting everywhere until I bought the new litter box. I put it together myself and it took me just over an hour with only a few curse words. Also, I have moved the food and water up on the middle shelf from when the picture was taken. That way he has a bigger lay down space on the bottom. Even with the food and water there is plenty of room for him to jump and move on the shelf.

I love this rolling cage. It is very roomy and easy to move around. The EASIEST assembly I have ever attempted!!! I'm an "older" lady and it took me longer to clean all the styrofoam off the panels than it did to put it together. Hint: use wet papertowels for the styrofoam, it cuts the static. I positioned the panels over the box and wiped and batted the foam down into the box. I put this cage together by myself with no tools as the description says. I think this will be perfect for summer until I get an enclosure built. The plastic pieces are flexible enough to remove without breaking. Yep, I misjudged one of the bottom panels when assembling it and had to remove some of the connectors in order to flip the panel. As most know, removing connectors often results in breaking pieces but I was able to accomplish the removal with a flat head screwdriver with no breakage and reassemble with a fit as tight as the first time. I have a full size litter box and a ball chaser toy in the bottom and still a little room for walking. The sitting shelves are a little difficult to get in place but are a nice tight fit with no wobbling once attached and can be easily moved around for a configuration you like. My kitten is only about four months old, pretty small, so she has a harder time getting to the shelves but as she grows I don't see there being any problem with that since she is an excellent jumper. I was pleasantly suprized to find it had a double door, upper and lower sections, I wasn't sure when I ordered if it had one or two. The only thing I see to improve this cage would be an addition of a ramp that could attach to the side panel that allows for level change for kittens or older cats that don't jump so well. But that's an afterthought, this is a superb cage that I believe will last a long time. It's well worth the money and with Prime I got here (Alaska) with free shipping. I LOVE PRIME!!!! Now I need some attachable hanging toys, LOL. I just may be having more fun with this cage than kitty! I recommend this cage to anyone looking for an indoor or outdoor enclosure.
