We have had our Syrian hamster for about 9 months. During that time, I have purchased 4 different brands and styles of hamster wheels. Each time I was disappointed. The first version came with our first cage, and sprayed poop and pee outside the cage. The second was too small - I could tell by the hamster's arched back and slow progress. The third was a wire/metal version that would not retain its rounded shape, and though the fourth was more solidly plastic and decent, it was so noisy! This silent runner was my fifth try. Finally! A quiet, quality wheel that is durable and fun for our hamster to run it. I admit, I hesitated over the higher price, but now I am so glad I decided to go for it! You will be, too.

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

When I got her a saucer, she never got to learn how to use it; she would only use it as a stepping stool to get to the top of her water bottle. For that reason, I let her run around the house inside of the hamster ball, but it just wasn't enough. She was still way too active and full of energy when she went back to her cage. When I got Silent Runner for her, for the first time in 1 1/2 years I've been with her, I saw her running on a wheel. I was sitting in front of her cage and watched her running for a long time. Ever since I got this for her, she doesn't try to climb up on top of the water bottle and fall 50 times a day. Disassembling the wheel part from the stand was very easy and so did the cleaning process. It was so quiet, I didn't really hear her using it even if I was sitting a feet or two away from the cage. It doesn't look or feel cheap. Pretty sturdy. Absolutely loved it, and was worth of my money! Definitely recommend this product over those cheap plastic wheel that would squeak every other second. I have a golden hamster and it was a perfect size for her.

Love this wheel!

I *love* this wheel. I have had Syrian hamsters for years and struggled to find a wheel that either A) Didn't take up too much space in the cage, B) Begin to squeak after a couple weeks, and C) hurt their feet. I tried the silent spinners, I tried the plastic saucers, I tried everything. I WISH I had heard of the Silent Runner sooner. It's the perfect size for a Syrian (even a big one like my current boy), without taking up cage space. It attaches perfectly to wire cages, but comes with a stand if you use a tub or glass aquarium. Unlike wheels I've found in the pet store, it doesn't rattle or rumble once attached to the cage wiring when the hamster runs on it. As for noise, the Kaytee Silent Spinner still takes the crown for quietest wheel I've ever found. This wheel is quiet, and the noise it sounds most similar to when in use is rain pitter-pattering against a window. Not bad at all. I can't figure out how to remove the top part in order to clean it, however. So as of now, it's definitely the hardest-to-clean wheel I've bought. But the flyer that came with it said it is easy to clean, so I must be doing something wrong / have extremely weak hands that can't remove the cap. All in all, it is a sturdy, quiet wheel that provides optimal cage space for your hamster and it very attractive, and my hamster seems to enjoy the privacy it provides with the holes rather than open access! Definitely would recommend to a friend and purchase again.

Amazing wheel! Read for troubleshooting advice

GO TO THE END FOR A FIX IF YOUR WHEEL UNSCREWS ITSELF At first when I got this wheel, it kept unscrewing itself and making such a loud clacking noise, but based on all of the positive reviews, I knew somethingmust be wrong with my wheel. I emailed support and they offered to send me replacement bearings which they thought would fix the problem. When I took out the existing bearings, there was extra plastic on the inside which I cut off. When I installed the new bearings, it worked like a charm! No noise at all (use velcrow on the bottom if it rattles against the bottom and keep it away from the walls). TO FIX: Remove the wheel from the stand and take the wheel apart so the axle screw can also be removed Remove the 2 bearings using a screwdriver as a prier (pushing from the inside between the two bearings helps) Make sure the bearings spin freely and are not stuck and ask for a replacement if they don't Look for excess plastic in the inner circle of the black part of the wheel (mine had 3 little "pegs" that weren't removed during production) Saw off any plastic that would get in the way of the bearings spinning using an exacto knife Replace the bearings, making sure they are flat and all the way pushed in

It's difficult to find a 9" wheel. We have a Syrian Hamster and he quickly outgrew the 7" we purchased from the pet store. There are other much cheaper options available, but they are mostly metal and are grated like a screen, which I've read are noisy and not good for your little pet. I have to admit, I felt I was stuck with only this option for our furry friend. I am so glad I purchased this! By far it has exceeded my expectations, our hamster runs in it constantly and has a nice even spine while doing so, he looks very comfortable in it! It is very sturdy. The base is steel/metal and it's heavy enough to where it stays put in the bedding. it's VERY QUIET! It's easy to take apart and clean. Overall if you care for your furry friends like our family does. I highly recommend this wheel.

If you have a Syrian hamster THIS is the wheel to have. The 6.5 silent spinner is TOO SMALL for a full sized Syrian. Then the next size up on all wheels is 12 inches. That's insane and huge. The wheels that are a proper size like this one are loud. This wheel is the best of both worlds. It's SO QUIET and it's honestly the most perfect size ever

Best wheel I've ever purchased

I'm a light sleeper, i used to find myself getting up on the middle of the night frustrated because I'd have to oil the old metal wheel just so i could get some sleep. This wheel is sturdy, had a great metal base that keeps it in place. other wheels I'd have to tape to the bottom of the tank to prevent banging from being unbalanced or too light that it'd move while my hamster was in motion. It truly is silent! The instructions talk about oiling it with mineral oil every so often to keep it silent but I'll be more than happy to if it keeps it operating this well! Money totally well spent, worth every penny.
