Let me start by saying I’m a 5’10 woman with semi sensitive, olive skin and thick dark hair 😩 Unfortunately, I can shave in the morning and have stubble by the afternoon. The icing on the cake is, since my hair is thick and my skin is sensitive, I tend to bleed when I shave in the opposite direction of my hair growth. This stuff is AH-MAZING. I have so much less irritation from shaving than I did with traditional shaving creams. And despite regular use, 1 tube lasted at least 3 months (and that’s with my husband using it for his face regularly as well). I buy the “original scent” cause it’s cheaper than the girlie one (super annoying that companies do this by the way!). It has a very light almost citrusy scent. Honestly, even if it smelled like a man, who cares? You rinse it off anyway. I highly recommend this product!

I tend to get a lot of nicks and small cuts when I shave, so I thought why not try something different? I prefer shaving gels to shaving creams, but no matter what brand I used I would still have the same issues. I initially was going to try buying some "shave butter" from Harry's or Dollar Shave club, but I thought why not try and see what Amazon has, I have rarely been disappointed by highly rated products. Anyway, I finally tried this shave cream last night and it was great. All of the shave creams i have used before were the foaming ones. This one is more like a thick paste, like the consistency of soft clay almost, though it really softens up and dissolves once it comes into contact with water. Once you rub it into your face it creates this really slick lubricating layer that protects your skin really well. The first time I used it I got 0 cuts, and one of the closest shaves I've ever had. Unlike foaming creams and gels which get all over the place, this was very easy to apply, and even if it doesn't look like you have that much on when you feel your face you can feel that slick layer.

I've read almost all of the negative reviews, and they show a misunderstanding of what to expect and of how to use this product. So I've divided this review into the following labeled sections: 1. MY PERSPECTIVE 2. WHAT TO EXPECT ON FIRST USE 3. HOW I SHAVE WITH CREMO CREAM 4. HOW LONG DOES A TUBE OF CREMO CREAM LAST? Let's get going... 1. MY PERSPECTIVE This review is for both head shavers and others. I mention this only because those of us who shave our heads are especially cautious about our products. For example, I use two razors - a Gillette Sensor (cheaper) for my face and a Gillette Mach 3 (more expensive) for my head - because blades are crazy expensive but I feel the need to invest more in my scalp. Before I switched to Cremo I used Aveeno Positively Smooth Shave Gel exclusively for years. I still say it is the best shave gel and the only thing I would use if Cremo weren't available. A can of Positively Smooth costs about the same as a tube of Cremo Cream but it lasts perhaps 1/5th as long and isn't as good. If Cremo went out of business or changed its formula, I would switch back to Aveeno. I hope that never happens. 2. WHAT TO EXPECT ON FIRST USE See the next section for specifics on how I use Cremo. The package claims that it creates a light lather. I think that's a misleading statement. When you wet your skin and apply the cream in the appropriate proportion, you may see a little white cream on your skin at first, but it will be very little and will likely disappear very quickly. Don't worry - it's still there and will still protect you well. It is simply not made to create a lather. Expect more like what you'd experience with a skin conditioning cream or hand lotion. You'll also feel a sort of gritty texture at first. I'm not certain the purpose of this - maybe the grit contains some of the magic. But it doesn't stay like an exfoliator would. The grit disappears quickly too. Because the cream and grit disappear quickly, you'll need to switch your mindset from knowing where to shave by where there's still foam to knowing where to shave by where there's still stubble. It's an easy switch, and I've grown to prefer it this way. Finally, you will probably feel a little more "drag" against the stubble than you're used to. This actually took me the most to get used to. It doesn't hurt, it's just different from the feel of shaving with other products. I've realized that the upside of this is that you are getting a much closer shave. 3. HOW I SHAVE WITH CREMO CREAM Here's my method and the one I recommend to everyone. If you don't shave your head you can easily adapt it to your needs. a. I fill the sink with very hot water b. I wet my head and face with the water c. I squeeze an amount of Cremo into my hand that is only about the amount of toothpaste advertisers show on toothbrushes. d. I rub my hands together a little and rub it into the skin on my head and face in circular motions e. I re-wet my hands a little and pat fresh hot water on my head only f. I shave my head as normal (I ALWAYS shave against the growth) - I rinse my razor in the sink frequently g. I re-wet my hands and rub the water on my face to re-activate the Cremo that I put there before h. I shave my face (again, always against the growth, and again rinsing the razor frequently) i. When done I simply rub the remaining Cremo into my skin. It makes a nice conditioner too. 4. HOW LONG DOES A TUBE OF CREMO CREAM LAST? Much longer than the tube says! I am now on my 3rd tube of Cremo Cream. This time I decided to measure how long it lasts. First you should know that I have an extra-large head (XL hats don't fit me), I have a very coarse beard, and the hair on my head is somewhat coarse too. Both grow back enough to shave once per day, but to be economical I actually shave every 1.5 days (if I shave this morning, my next shave will be tomorrow night, etc.). I also shave the back of my neck once per week but I don't increase the amount of Cremo I use. The only thing I don't shave is a small goatee and so-called "soul patch" below my lower lip. I started using the current tube of Cremo Cream on July 4, 2014. Today is January 2, 2015 - 6 months later. I'm certain I still have enough in the tube for at least another month! ------------ EDIT ------------ My tube finally ran out today. It lasted for this headshaver from July 4, 2014 to March 3 2015, 8 months. You can't beat this for around $6-$7, and you get the best shave as well!

I recently switched from cartridge shaving to oldchool double edged safety razor shaving (which I'm really happy with btw. I never want to use a cartridge again!) So I decided to try something different from my typical shave gel in a can. Im very happy with the Cremo shave cream so far. From what I've read in the reviews, I think that some of the complaints came from people not using it properly. I started with running a washcloth under the hottest water I felt comfortable with and laid it across my neck and cheeks. Kinda like an old-fashioned barber shop would do with a hot towel. I let my skin get good and moist. Then I wet my hands in the hot water and squeezed out an amount similar to a blop of toothpaste and applied it to one side of my face and neck, and used another small blop for the other side. Based on how much I needed to cover all the areas I shave, I don't doubt that each tube will definitely last several months. A little bit goes a long way! This stuff doesn't lather up like a gel or foam. It just creates a very smooth and slick layer on the face. Between the Cremo and my new Safety razor with Feather blades, I was in shave heaven! These last few weeks have been the closest shaves Ive ever experienced in my life! I tried shaving with my old shave gel too, just to get a good comparison. I feel that the Cremo provides a smoother shave and my skin feels much better afterwards vs the gel. To others trying this product, I suggest if you don't feel a super slick coating on your skin after applying the Cremo, wet your hands with hot water and rub it into the cream on your face in circular motions, making sure the cream is fully activated before shaving. Im very satisfied with the results. Its different than what I was used to, but I felt it was easy to adapt to and really gave me a more satisfying shave. My next objective is to compare this cream to the classic type of cream you whip up into a lather with a brush. Cremo also makes that type of cream too.

I don't use hyperbole with reviews, I want to give my fellow consumers the straight facts. This cream has given me, without question, the best shaving experience I have had in my adult life. Good: Super smooth shaving, very close cut, smooth easy skin, no cuts. Very easy to clean up, no big mess. Unusual: It doesn't really lather much, after working it in there is barely any foam like a hard soap. Thats fine, its just non-traditional. Bad: It takes a little prep and effort to work it into the beard and skin per the instructions. This is a pretty minor trade off. Background: I have always had a 9am shadow after shaving and it takes forever to get this basic grooming done. I've tried electric shavers, I've tried gels, I've tried special soaps, I've tried artisan creams, I've tried the 5-blade flexing swivel head monstrosities; none of these compare. I don't have sensitive skin, I would shave light, I would shave hard. Unless I scraped that top layer of skin off, nothing gave me a good shave. I eventually gave up on all those gimmicks and just settled for the cheap disposable blades and aerosol foams and just accepted the mediocre. I tried this on a chance. It shaves buttery smooth, it shaves super close, and its not a mess; this is now my standard cream. Now if I can find a good blade, I might be golden. I bought this product with my own money, and no compensation of any kind.

I have used a double edged razor for many years and have used all kinds of shave creams with it including those applied with a brush, those sprayed out of a can and those squeezed out of a tube. Before now I can't say that I have ever heard of Cremo. I heard of this product from an Amazon "special offers" on my Fire tablet, and I'm really glad I did. Cremo arrives in a simple squeeze tube. I ordered the sandalwood scent, although I can't say the scent is all that strong or persistent. What's really striking, though, is how well this cream works. As advertised, a little goes a long way. Only a tiny dab on wet skin is needed to provide a very slick shaving surface. It truly rivals that of good shaving soap applied with a brush. You can feel its slickness as you shave, and my shave is every bit as close and comfortable as that achieved with a brush. I'm truly impressed. This will definitely be my preferred shaving cream when not using a brush, and will be ideal for travel usage. If you want a close, comfortable shave I definitely recommend trying Cremo. The scent is mild and not long lasting, so any one of the Cremo save creams should be compatible with your preferred after shave. I only wish I had known about Cremo sooner. This stuff is truly great.

I'd been using Barbasol for a long time and I kept getting cuts with the 5 blade Harry's Razors I use. I got a small sample of the Harry's shave cream lotion and it worked a lot better than Barbasol but it's too expensive so I did an Amazon search and found Cremo. I ordered one trial tube and it was better than the Harry's product and a lot cheaper. I get a nice close shave that is much more "nick free". 5 blade razors work well but when they cut, it's more of a divot so a high quality shave cream is a must and this is a high quality product. I'm an avid weightlifter and I also use the Cremo to shave my upper arms, chest and shoulders and it works equally well there. Highly recommended.

Love this cream. Works great, easy to apply and tube fits easily in my bathroom man care box! I got it with this razor:

Follow the directions: hot shower for several seconds, squeeze a small amount of cream into your palm, add a little water to create a lather, rub onto legs and apply to legs. Awesome. Smooth, slick, lets the blades glide over the skin without nicks or razor burn. The sandalwood fragrance is nice--not too much of it and it does seem to dissipate after your shower. Would love an unscented version. I think most folks will think the tube is expensive relative to what you get. The stuff is very concentrated. I used about a nickel-sized amount per leg. The tube will last for a good while. It's a keeper.

i used too much the first time. i was really trying to lather this because...habits. this is the slickest of all shaving anything i have ever used. i shave now with a feather Japanese straight razor and i usually use pre-shave oil and a face wash/ hot towel treatment to prep. i did none of that for this stuff. just followed the directions. i don't care for the scent. its not bad, i just was expecting more of a Taylor of old bond street sandalwood. this is more of a synthetic smelling not quite recognizable as sandalwood to me sandalwood. but performance is off the chart and that is why i really keep buying all these shaving soaps. i am ordering the other types of cremo to compare. they are cheaper than artisan soaps and i would say performance rivals even my previous favorite mitchells wool fat soap. i can see myself missing the lather but i can always lather another soap over this if that occurs. you wont be disappointed in this shave cream.
