Purchased this for my sons first birthday gift. This toy is an absolute hit. You know how every once in a while you find and buy that one toy that they love and you never would have guessed it would be THAT big of a hit? Well this toy was that toy for us. He loves pounding on the balls and hearing them go down the xylophone. He loves walking around with the hammer just by itself. He loves holding two of the balls and walking around clanking those together. Overall, he just loves this toy. I paid a little extra for the 30th anniversary set but I really like the look of it with the red and gold. This might be one of my go to birthday gifts for a similar age range - I'd say 1st/2nd birthdays.

This toy is very cute. I like that it is wooden, sturdy, and well-made. The colors are bright and inviting. The xylophone has some bars that have a bit more treble than others...but overall pleasant. The little hammer has a plastic end and a wooden handle. My only suggestion would be to put something softer on the hammer end other than the hard plastic (rubber, etc), for those inevitable times when my baby will whack himself in the head . The xylophone is removable, the other wooden box that holds the colorful wooden balls on top is sturdy enough that baby can use it to balance himself when he attempts to stand.

My 18 month old loves this! He can bang away at the xylophone or smash the balls through the holes. It makes a lovely jingle when the balls fall through onto the xylophone. It's very durable; we've had no trouble with chipping, denting, or disappearing paint. I'm very impressed with the quality. Only downfall would be how long my son is content to bang away at this fun but loud toy.

This provides my 15 month old a great deal of entertainment! She loves pushing the balls in and then running to grab the balls to put them back in. She loves pulling the paddle out to hit the keys with the hammer or with the balls to make music. It's fun to watch her figure it out. Excellent toy for a 1+ year old, perfect present for 1st birthdays coming from a mom of a 1 year old.

As an occupational therapist who works with children I was very happy to see this toy. It is the perfect combination of challenge and fun for those that are just learning to play. The quality of the wood is great and I love the bright colors. I think the xylophone adds a bonus to this toy that most ball toys are missing. This is my go-to gift for 10-18 months and we have 3 of them at our OT clinic. I would highly recommend!!

This was a great gift for my 1 year old. My 2 year old likes it too, but not as much. The wood is sturdy and has survived both toddlers climbing on top of it to reach things. The balls are wooden. When you hit them they fall down onto the xylophone and roll off the keys. The kids love that. The xylophone comes out and can be played seperatly with the hammer. The hammer has a sort of softer plastic head but it definatly still hurts if your child hits you or their sibling with it. The balls are heavy wood. I prefer that because they hold up to being hit with the hammer or thrown across the room and they don't smoosh if they get stepped on like some plastic balls that come with other toys. If your child likes to throw things you may want to replace them with lighter ones temporarily. We found that most of the plastic balls that came with our other toddler toys fit just fine. The only issue I have is the paint wears away a bit on the sides and I think it will wear off over time. I would definitely buy this again.

My son loves this toy. He's only 9 1/2 months, so he doesn't understand what the mallet is for, but enjoys pushing the balls through with his hands. He also likes holding the xylophone. This is a very well-made product and he should get many months of enjoyment from it. There are some small parts that hold the xylophone together, so it should be checked regularly to make sure they are tight. Great buy. I put a can of Gerber snacks next to it for a size reference.

We have triplets - 2 girls and a boy - and this is the first toy I purchased for them that made me realize I need to buy 3 new toys otherwise they go absolutely nuts and fight each-other for everything. They couldn't get enough of this thing when I first brought it out, and when it comes out again in the toy rotation. Fortunately there's at least two functional parts to this, so at least two of them can be happy while the third one gets mad and the battle begins.

This is such a high quality looking/feeling toy. I'm no musical genius but I tapped out Mary had a little lamb just fine. I was nervous because I read reviews that claim their toys were out of tune. May be that issue has been resolved? In any case both of us love it!
