I have been trying to purchase a camera for home security monitoring and this is one of the models that was suggested by a friend. After buying this from Amazon and using it for more than a week, I found myself pretty satisfied with the product and really think this product deserves a five star rating. These are what I like about the product: 1. Very competitive price without sacrificing quality. The camera is nicely designed and well built. It doesn't look cheap at all! 2. Very easy setup. It only took me a few minutes to go through all the setup steps and then it was ready to go! 3. The resolution of the camera is great, for both the day time image and night time vision. 4. Control via smart phone is great. I can easily adjust the zoom in and angle settings. 5. Wonderful 2-way audio feature. This is a very nice feature for me to contact people at home, considering the cell phone signal is rather poor in our area. 6. Different levels of security alert settings. You can control motion, sound, and/or human detection with various sensitivity settings to filter out false alarms. Thanks Foscam for making us safer!

It worthy what it charges

Foscam R2 2MP 1080P HD Wireless Security Camera (Black)I bought the Foscam R2 2MP 1080P HD Wireless Security Camara - black about one week ago, my oriental purpose was to keep my baby's crying noticed easily with this camera, and it works great till now. The package is cute and functional, the instructions are easy to read and follow. The touch of the camera is elegant and soft, as shown in the picture, it's like matte black and seems quite high-grade. There's a page with a QR code and it will lead you to app download, the welcome page of the app is quite attractive as shown in the picture. The connection takes about 2 to 3 minutes with the cord connected to the WiFi device, and I did the WiFi connection again after did the cord connection, took another 1 minute. After connected to the cell, you can see the color is good, quite a restoration of the real world. Once you extend the picture to your whole screen, just one more touch on the screen, a panel will display as it allows you to use more functions such as zoom in/out, turn to different angles, etc. The camera, I've used for over a week, so far so good. And I think I'll buy another one or two as extra indoor security cam.

easy to set up and high quality camera

I bought this camera to watch my baby daughter when I am working. I received it two days ago, and started to use it immediately. I have to say this camera has much higher quality than my expectations. The picture is high quality, and I can hear her voice very clearly. When she hears my voice through the camera, she gets so excited. The zoom in/out function works very well also. It's really helpful.

I was looking for a security camera for my kid's play room so I can see her when I am in the kitchen. I found this one with many good reviews. The camera is easy to install and the instruction manual is easy to follow as well. The voice instruction is very cool, guiding me through the setup process by telling me when the wireless connection was ready. There are many options to manipulate the camera. The motion detection is sensitive. I got many notifications in the first few days, so I eventually turned off the alerts. Overall, I think I got the right one for my needs. It matches my expectations.

An amazing feature rich security camera

I choose this camera over Canary, Piper and other more well know brands for many reasons. First of all, the camera is half the price of the competitors like piper, canary, nest, netgear's arlo while offering even more features. You do lose about 20 degrees of view but for me,110 degree of view is wide enough. One of the main selling point is the ethernet port. Many of the popular brands are wireless only with the exception of canary but the canary doesn't have two way audio and is harder to mount on ceilings and walls. The R2 also includes wall mounting hardware. The mobile app does what it suppose to do. I haven't experience any battery drain on my phone and the alerts works like they should. The night vision works well although its creepy to look at cause its like watching a horror movie and I expect something to pop out. Bottom line, you want a fully function camera with all the features of the major brands at half the price, this is the camera for you. The wireless works well too but I prefer the security of a wired connection. For recording, you can pop in a micro-sd card for recording or buy foscams cloud service.

Great Camera We just had our first baby recently, so we really need a camera which works as a baby monitor. So I did a lot of research online, and found this product has really great reviews and also a very reasonable price, so I bought it. Based on my own experience, this is really a good camera, it has all the features I need: easy to set up; high resolution no matter during day or night time; really quiet motor when using pan/tilt; easy to monitor the baby remotely, and also, the price is great with regard to product quality. Overall, this is a really good camera, worth every penny!

Nice camera should to have

I got my camera two days earlier than expected delivery. Then I did a quick setup (20 minutes), in the morning before I went to the office. It is straight forward and simple. The camera works without any problems now. I bought this camera because I have an eight year old son. He gets home from school around 2:40pm. His mom normally comes home around 2:30pm. However in case she isn't home as usual, I can monitor what my son is doing and instruct him where he should go and what he should do. This is a very nice camera. I put it in the living room. I find it easy to adjust the viewing angle. So I can watch what is happening from the front door to the door of the master bedroom. The image of this camera is clear, and it has many features: the motion and light detection can distinguish movement and light changes, and send an alert to your phone. You can monitor the house instantly. It also has speaking functions, so you can talk through the camera from your phone. Yesterday, I checked my son's activity and saw he played computer games too long, so I told him to get some exercise. His mom spoils him, and he won't follow her instructions sometimes, so it helps to have this. Overall it is a very nice camera, I would recommend to my friends.

R2 is very easy to set up

Very fast shipping, received my Foscam R2 in 2 days. R2 has rotating camera functionality in the front and also has the camera lens surrounded by infrared LEDs for night vision. The whole design reminds me of R2D2, very modern look that matches my living room decor. R2 is very easy to set up. All you need to do is to plug an AC adapter into the camera (which is included in the package) and plug into the power outlet, then wait for it to boot up. There will be a voice message informing you it's connecting to wifi and LAN. And then just install the app from the app store. Simply search Foscam. The app is well designed and user friendly, the camera has audio and motion alerts, and it offers great quality video even in the dark. The app gives you different adminstrative controls over the camera and different storage options. Overall, it is providing a great user experience and I am very satisfied with the purchase.

I got this product 3 days ago, and want to recommend it for people who want to buy a security camera for family use. Especially for families with kids and pets. Firstly, the camera needs to connect with the router for the first time use using a cable, after that it can be connected by wifi. The initial setup is really easy. Secondly, the product works really well, the customer just needs to sign up in the “Foscam” app, and then you will see what the camera sees on your phone. You can speak through the app, if you want to put this camera in the kids room, this function is really helpful. And you can even take pictures and videos using the app. Thirdly, if you want to use this camera as a security camera, it also works well. I put it facing toward the door, and anytime when people move in front of the camera, I get a notification on my phone. It tells me the camera detected human movement, and the time of detection. All in all, this is a quite nice camera and the functions are useful for family monitoring. Definitely recommend.

Very good quality!

Setup for the R2 was fairly easy. I just followed the instructions enclosed. After contacting customer support through their website on instant message, i was able to view live feed through the computer. After several tries with installing a micro sd card unsuccessfully, i contacted customer support again. Apparently the R2 does not support 128GB, the R4 does. It is not written in their manual very well. So im waiting for a 64GB to get here in a few days. I mainly use it right now to view the front porch. I have the IR off due to the glair. Included are morning, noon, and night photos. Video is smooth as well. Didnt know how to include a video clip to this review. I will definitely be ordereing more later on. I see there is a new one coming out with smartcam technology.
