Sweet simplicity-- dial, talk, shut handset
I like this little phone much more than anticipated, here's a run down of why you might, too: Pros: No frills A dial-tone, a real dial-tone! Large, really large keys Cool Jazz ringtone available Compact Inexpensive plans through GreatCall, with paperless and paper billing out of Texas and a customer service center available You get that satisfying flip- close to end a call Yes and No keys guide you through every function Camera No internet Texting Cons: Occasionally miss having a "smart phone" but the emotion passes instantly No internet but this is not really a con if you don't miss the distraction

Phone works great!
We got this phone for my 85-year old mother who has dementia, hearing loss, and a host of other ailments. It works as promised: she can call me (I believe she has help as she's not able to dial a phone anymore due to her stroke a couple years ago). I love that the numbers are large and easy to read as well as the display. She can read the names in the phone book and scan through them. It's also great because it "hangs up" when closed so makes more sense for an elderly user. I no longer experience "pocket-dialing" from mom moments after a call due to this hang up feature. The last thing is that it might not ring loud enough for a severely hearing person, and with dementia, they might not remember to charge the phone, but again those are user issues, not the fault of the phone. Finally, I was impressed that the 5-star service called me pretty quickly when Mom pressed the "emergency"number by mistake then failed to answer their call once she was silent for a minute. She's in a memory care home so was safe, but the service called me right away to ensure that mom was OK. All in all this phone does as is promised.

Best Phone for Seniors
Purchased this for an older relative. She loves this phone. Couldn't work the other supposedly elder-friendly models from the telecoms, and was always calling (me) for assistance. Now she can call Great Calls customer assistance with any questions and receive fast, friendly, knowledgeable help. I've called on her behalf a couple times and was truly amazed at the high-quality customer service. The call quality is excellent, the costs are reasonable, and the billing is straightforward. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone needing a simple easy-to-use flip phone.

Works Great
I bought this phone for my mom over a month ago and she LOVES it. Its very easy for her to use which is a big plus because she cant operate a smart phone to save her a**. So I found this phone for her and its working perfect. Also the emergency call button is a blessing just in case something should happen when I'm working at night.

Simple
Purchased for my older sister. Its simple to use and the layout is great. You can add to the phonebook online which is handy if your person is computer challenged. The service network is "greatcall.com" which operates on the Verizon network. I highly recommend for those who will not or can not use a smart phone.

Simple and.easy to operate for my 83 year old mother.
Everything about this phone is.great. It's simple to operate . My mother wears hearing aides and has no problems hearing with this phone. On the old phone she had tremendous issues with being able to hear. None of her 6 children nor her personally could enjoy a phone conversation with any of the prevoius phones she had and she tried several different phones. The Jitter Bug phone has solved those issues. Not real thrilled that she has to purchase monthly service. She uses very little of her monthly minutes and they roll over every month-old so even though she.is accumulating quite a few minutes, if you dont.pay the.monthly plan fee you won't have phone service. She could save a lot of $ if she.was able.to pay as you go. Meaning you have phone service as long as you have minutes. I would still recommend this phone to anyone especially seniors that are.not.into all the high tech features of today.

Great phone - just read the small print in the phone contract that goes with it.
The phone is clearly designed to be simple to use for seniors. There are a number of little details that show the thought went into the product. You need a phone contract with Great Call to use this - make sure you read the small print to see what it is included in the fees and how much extra for taxes etc will get added on to the final bill.

Great phone for disabled/blind and anyone that has never had a cell phone
i purchased this phone for my disabled mother in law. She’s never used a cell phone or ever been on the internet. I read the negative comments about activation regardless I ordered the phone from amazon. The call to GreatCall was about 20 minutes long and not difficult or frustrating at all. There was an activation fee that i wasn’t aware of until I called GreatCall. They recommended that I charge the phone for 12 hours prior to activation. Activation took minutes and was easy step by step process. Screen is clear and bright, colors can be changed, volumes increased. 2 great features that I wasn’t aware of until i read the manual, 1. set up contacts on the MyGreatCall.com website was easy and quick. the best feature for the disabled is call the operator and tell them to call contact in phone book. amazing! For my Mother in law this phone is perfect. Also, the 5 star button gives us a sense of safety and security when she has to be alone. I should’ve ordered this product for her years ago but I wasn’t aware of it.

Best Cellphone for Seniors
After 8 months of use I am very pleased. You won't find a phone more easy to navigate. Activation was simple. Can adjust speaker and rings to loud. Dials are easy to see.Charges quickly. Customer service good.Sturdy construction ( I have dropped it twice on concrete.) I appreciate it is easy to find my own phone number and today's date and time with one step. Negative reviews may be attributable to varying cognitive impairment of us senior citizens. Children should be prepared to activate phone for their parent and walk them through how to use it, altho I had no trouble. Cons include : Extra $5.00 for voice mail. Can't connect to internet , scan coupons, listen to music, read e-mail, and no alarm. I am 75 and my life is much less stressful after giving up my smartphone. It was a tradeoff that worked for me. I got tired of broken screens, bad customer service and not being able to hear. I threw my Samsung smart phone in the canal and haven't looked back yet.
