I was torn between this bed bumper and a more traditional bed rail. I loved the idea but I was nervous at how it would work. My 2 year old was going from a crib to a twin bed and I want her safe. I decided to take the gamble with this less traditional approach and I'm very glad I did! I put it directly on the mattress underneath the sheet and the mattress protector and it stays very well in place. It goes about 3/4 of the length down the twin mattress which is perfect. A side note about it: when it came it recommended using seppnfitted sheets, which I was not prepared for. However, my sheets happened to work well even though they weren't deep fitted. I was still nervous after setting it up that it may not be tall enough to keep her in safely (and she is a crazy sleeper in my experience), but it has worked so well! We have not had any issues at all. And as a bonus, the customer service of this company has been great. They have been very proactive in contacting me to ensure my satisfaction and to make sure everything is going well.

The product was exactly as described. I purchased it for my guest room twin sized bed which is super high and happens to be the one my toddler grandson sleeps in everyday. Like many kids, he's a rough sleeper and was looking for something that would help keep him from rolling off the edge and busting his melon, but it had to be easy to get in and out of ...including myself. 😀 The dense foam bumper came rolled up in a super small box, and I'm thinking, "No way this is going to flatten out", but it did! The instructions say to let it rest for up to 2hrs to give it time to resume it's proper shape and poof out (I'm paraphrasing here) Once it was unrolled, it immediately started to unscrunch, poof up, and lay flat. Honestly, I just gave it a few minutes because that's all it needed. Now, about slippage... well, there is none. I have a mattress cover so I was expecting some, but it hasn't happened yet, nor do I see it happening. Just insert it under your deep fitted sheet, make your bed as usual and forget about it. It's also very comfortable. The waterproof cover is such a great idea and a necessity if you have kids. The price is for one bumper, and that's what I purchased to see if it was going to work out. I'm getting ready to purchase a second one for the other side, because it really is easy to get in and out of, whether it's for a toddler or an old lady like myself. I would recommend this product to anyone.

Works PERFECTLY for my 2 year old. I was a bit skeptical at first, but it keeps him perfectly secure in his toddler bed. Looks FAR more attractive than an ugly bar. And is easier to make the bed too

We ordered this for transitioning our almost three-year-old from her crib to a twin bed. I'd definitely recommend it. It does the job (no fear that our daughter will fall out of bed). It takes up a bit of bed space, but leaves plenty of room for a three-year-old, and one nice advantage of it over the hard sort of bed rail is that it doesn't keep me from sitting on the edge of the bed when I want to (I can just sit right on the bumper - it squishes down). The fabric covering the pillow is a little slick, so we put it under not just the sheet but also the mattress pad. One thing to bear in mind is that you might want deep pocket sheets to cover both the bumper and the mattress - our regular sheet fits okay and is held in place securely at the corners of the mattress (since the bumper is a bit shorter than a twin mattress), but it doesn't reach all the way under the mattress in the middle (leaving a few inches of the side of the mattress visible). Not a big deal, of course, and a deep pocket sheet would address that.

Was fairly skeptic about this product. Years of nannying and now transitioning my own child to their “big kid bed”, I honestly expected to send this back. The “bump” really does keep our child in bed. He’s 20 months and in a twin bed. He sleeps well and hasn’t had any close calls or movement beyond the bump. He’s not a crazy sleeper, but many nights in his crib proved that he often sits up and throws himself to the other side. Several reviews mentioned that the product slips. The company seems to have fixed this problem, and the bump stays securely in place.

I love this bumper for my 2 year old son's bed. We just transitioned him into a twin bed and I had many concerns about a traditional bed rail. I was worried he would try to climb over and fall. I did some research and found this amazing product. I love how he can climb in and out of the bed independently with no trouble and it keeps him in bed too! He has slept in the bed now for a week and we have had no issues. When the product first arrived I was worried it wasn't plush enough but if you leave it out of the package for a day it swells to a nice shape. The non slip bottom is great and it hasn't fallen out of place. I would highly recommend this product to parents who have little ones that want to get in and out of bed independently.

I'm a non-traditional hiccapop bumper user. Several of my Shetland Sheepdogs like to sleep on my bed at night, and inevitably one would roll off the end of the bed during the night. I tried several different bumpers but this is the only one that is versatile, easily moved, and simple to use...and, I might add, doesn't scare my dogs like the metal ones did! I'm so happy with how it works that I ordered a second bumper to just put under the blanket on the side of the bed. That one works great too! Thanks, hiccapop! Perhaps your product name should be Toddler/Canine Bed Rail Bumper!

I have been more than impressed with this bumper for our almost 3 year old. When we first made the transition into a twin bed for our little one, she had no problems falling out of the bed. Then after about 5 weeks, she fell out of the bed twice in one night! So I immediately did some research and found this product on Amazon and ordered it. She hasn't fallen out of the bed at all since we put this on. It doesn't move because of the non-skid bottom, it's not too much of an obstruction (like a big railing or something) and works great! I was actually a little skeptical - but it's done the job quite nicely! I also appreciate that it's soft yet sturdy so if she does bump into it into the night - it's not a hard railing. My daughter also likes it and is aware that it's helping her not fall out of the bed. Happy parents and tot over here! Highly recommend!

I had read some reviews about the bummper being a problem because it "slipped" and shiffted a lot. But there really is no other better alternative than that mesh fence. I would never be able to tuck my toddler in with that thing!!I decided to try the bummper out anyways. This worked awesomely for my 2 1/2 year old. It actually does not move around. It DOES have a sort of rubber grip material similar to the ones you buy to put under rugs. Of course it is not cemented on there, and any movement I feel is inevitable with a worm like sleeping toddler who starts off head on pillow and ends up feet over bed. But I was surprised how I myself would tug on it from the side when trying to get toddler to sleep, and it really didn't budge so easily. It has shiffted an inch or two, because my toddler climbs over it like mount everest because he likes to make everything exciting. But by no means did it slip off. And I can't say it moved at all while my toddler slept on it ( he uses it as a pillow throughout the night too). I like it, it should work for you too. P.S I didn't get this free or anything. I paid full price on Amazon. I just appreciate the company sending out an email to check up on the product arriving and your satisfaction.

I bought this Hiccapop bumper and the Izo Chid Bed Safety Rail Bumper (also on Amazon). My 3 year old grandson just moved into a queen bed in the middle of the room. He's an active "helicopter" sleeper and managed to fall out of bed straight away. I put the Hiccapop bumper on one side and the Izo on the other side of the bed. The Izo is significantly bigger than the Hiccapop. The Izo is 6" h x 9"W x 56" long while the Hiccapop is 4.5"H x 7"W and 52" long. My grandson bumped up against both bumpers as he slept. At one time, his legs went over the Hiccapop and another time his shoulder rested up against the Izo. He didn't go over either although It might be able to go over the Hiccapop. I probably should have tested both bumpers longer than two nights but I hope that the Hiccapop will be enough of a signal to him to stop moving in that direction. I put both bumpers under the waterproof mattress cover and on top of the pillowtop. Neither bumper moved despite my grandson using them for leverage to pull himself up into bed and to dangle out of bed. My husband and I crushed the Hiccapop bumper (we didn't try to sit on the Izo side) to get into the bed to read bedtime stories. The smaller Hiccapop looks nicer with the smaller bumps under the blanket and it's easier for us to get in and out of bed with our grandson. I have a 13-1/2" mattress with a pillow top and a waterproof mattress cover making the base about 14". With the Hiccapop, I can use my 18" deep sheets (but I really need 20" sheets). With the Izo, I need 22" deep sheets minimum. Consequently, I decided to return the Izo and order another Hiccapop. He has fallen off the bottom of the bed so I may order a third Hiccapop. Get the Hiccapop if you want a lower profile look and don't want to buy deeper sheets. Buy the Izo if you have a really active sleeper who might go over a 4.5" barrier or if the bed is up against the wall and you don't want him flailing into the wall or if the extra length of the Izo is necessary so the baby doesn't fall off a "gap" into furniture such as a night table or rocking chair. The Izo really makes an effective barrier.
