• EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map like never before. Each city spans multiple tiles so you can custom build your cities to take full advantage of the local terrain.
  • ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures.
  • DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations.
  • COMBINED ARMS: Expanding on the “one unit per tile” design, support units can now be embedded with other units, like anti-tank support with infantry, or a warrior with settlers. Similar units can also be combined to form powerful “Corps” units.
  • ENHANCED MULTIPLAYER: In addition to traditional multiplayer modes, cooperate and compete with your friends in a wide variety of situations all designed to be easily completed in a single session.

Concepts are the same as previous games...The quality is better. The AIs are still not all that smart. It takes a little bit to get use to some of the new elements. I still cant find the way to see all of my units. Also, not sure why I cant have a conversation with another country unless they are unhappy with me. Otherwise fun to play.

My boyfriend bought this game on my Prime account. He ignored me for an entire day because "OMG Dot this game is so much fun you should totally play it." Luckily Christmas is right around the corner, and there's a designer bag I've been eyeing... So it all worked out in the end - just make sure those of you with partners can afford all the costs of this "addictive" and "mind-blowing" game.

Fun game, but there are still obvious places for improvement. AI interactions aren't great, and religious units are cumbersome, and barbarians are hit and miss, but overall a good game. Beautiful graphics that change with the time of day, diverse civilizations with unique units and buildings, and a new district concept in city building make this an improvement from Civ V, but still not as good as Civ V with the expansions yet (Brave New World specifically). One major improvement - there is a clock on the screen now, so it's easier to gauge how long you've been playing.

This item gets you mailed a DVD ROM and a slip of paper with the product key. So you will need a CD/DVD drive for this unless you want to just put the product key into steam and wait for it to download. The DVD ROM installed approximately 8 gig of files. Then when the game started, it took another two hours to download the game updates.

This sixth version definitely has the "Civ" magic, just one more turn... At the start it's a bit overwhelming (to me) in the choices that are available in creating one's cities. Unlike the previous versions, cities are now no longer contained to a single hex, but they expand out to the neighboring hexes. One can not nor should they attempt to create every possible building type per city. I found that a bit frustrating at first. I realized for me that allowing that in the past made the game simpler. Now you need to pay a bit more attention. Each city can and will have a varied strength which is a bit more realistic. I found the best way though to enjoy the game is to just jump in and not worry about it. You won't play perfectly at first. But having completed one game. (I lost! Another Civ won by a religious victory, something I was not paying attention to as I was going for the science victory...) Afterwards I looked up some hints and tips. Honestly, they made more sense having played a game. Trying to read beforehand would have scared me off and just been a bit confusing. So if you like a somewhat deep strategy game you may just love this one. If you love the Civilization series, this is so unique it does not negate the previous games. They are still enjoyable for what they offer and their "take" on Civ. But this one will challenge you again as you learn its ins and outs. Sure, it might be 2 am when you check the clock. But ya know, just a few more turns to pull ahead, or to get that one tech...

Still just inching forward past the masterpiece that is Civ 4, but still a great addition to the series. While I gave it the five star she-bang, I'm still hoping the next one will be a bigger leap forward. Please don't let anything be as big of a disappointment as Beyond Earth was.

Simply amazing game. Just finished my first game that took 22 hours with a Science Victory and I loved it. I was able to play without declaring war once which, after playing the previous versions of Civ, I was surprised I could do. The AI seems to be smarter than before and not super aggro like previous releases of Civ. I can't wait to go through another play through at a harder difficulty and go for a domination, cultural, or religious victory. Every Civ lover needs to buy this game!

i'm a Civ fan and I was a little skeptical that it would be more of the same... and though it has the same feel of a game they really did it right as far as game play. really love the new religion aspect where all the acolytes run around zapping everyone. love how you can see your wonders build. it's pretty amazing game play..

I have been playing Civ since the beginning. I have spent many an hour re-conquering the world. This version has many updates and different ways that it can be done.

I purchased it after the release date but the product key that was included was actually a pre-order key so I got the pre-order bonus DLC =) I play this on MacOS, actually. I booted up Windows 10 in a VMWare Fusion virtual machine, inserted the disc and began to install. After entering the serial number it was then registered in my Steam library so I canceled the installer. From there I was able to download and play it in my Mac Steam. Good stuff! Great purchase and a great game.
