Controls everything I want it to

I honestly didn't have high expectations for this product. However, I wanted a good alternative to the harmony hub. This thing is fantastic though. The only hiccup I had was programming my AT&T Uverse remote. The self learning had some issues with this remote. I was eventually able to get it to work by holding the Uverse remote directly to the top of the RM-Mini3. All other remotes were learned with no issues and without going through this process. I chalked it up to an issue with AT&T's remote (I have also had issues with Uverse using an IR repeater that doesn't occur with other devices). I have the RM-Mini3 programmed to several devices including TV, soundbar, electric fireplace, Uverse receiver, DVD player, and AppleTV 2 (Don't expect much for voice controls out of the AppleTV). I was able to link the devices to Alexa with no issues and can voice control a lot of my TV (volume, change channel, power, pause and play live TV). My favorite part is that I can program stations into the ihc app, then use voice commands with Alexa. For example, I programmed ESPN as channel 1602 in the ihc app. Now I can simply ask Alexa to change the channel to ESPN and it will put on channel 1602. One minor inconvenience, though, is that this only comes with a USB cable. There is no power adapter included. Luckily, after years of different phones, I have a plethora of extra adapters laying around and was even able to find one rated at the same power level as this device (output 5V ... 1 amp).

One of the best!!!

Absolutely a must have if you are adding smart functionality to your house. Works great with Alexa to speak to your home devices. If the item you want to connect has an IR remote you can connect it and make it work with Alexa. I have my TV, surround sound, humidifier, space heater and rokus all connected into this so I can just speak to alexa to do what I need. In order to get this product to work with products not in the list of manufacturers you have to set them up as set top boxes in the add device menu of the app.

Works perfectly. Ignore the negative reviews

I do not understand all the negative reviews. I was very hesitant after reading the bad reviews, but I took the risk and ordered one of these to try out, to add Alexa voice control to a Vizio TV. It worked perfectly. Setup was easy, right out of the box. Alexa integration was a breeze. After having a positive experience with that one, I ordered 2 more for other rooms. It was a very easy to add these into the IHC app, and set them up. Each time, Alexa easily discovered the additional TVs. Now I have voice control of TVs in 3 different rooms. Could not have been easier. I do not know why so many people are giving this low marks, but my experience was definitely 5-stars. Well done Broadlink!

Easy to use and works well

I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ which doesn't have an IR Blaster so this is really helpful. My TV is an old Dynex so it's not a smart TV or anything. This makes it so I can control my TV with my phone which is awesome cause I use my phone to stream to my TV so it was annoying to be able to control everything on my TV except actually being able to turn it off and on. This fixes that and is inexpensive. Very happy with it. Also let's me control the volume, channel and input. Measures roughly 2.5" tall and 2" across.

Small Economic Universal Remote at a Great Low Cost

Once you get past the aggravating setup on this device it works to the point that I don't even know it's there anymore. I had one problem with it so far as it does not allow me to use my cable providers full remote, even though it allows some features to work. I use this with my phone with the suggested app as well as with an amazon alexa echo device. It's not totally flawless and sometimes aggravating which is soon forgotten once you get it to work. I don't like the power setup, some probably will, everything has a workaround. You definitely have to be knowledgeable with how to set up wifi connections that work internally and then connect universally.

What you need to know if you want to use it with alexa

I got this to control some IR/FR devices via alexa like a projector, projector screen, LEDs, but as someone else mentions in the reviews, alexa only will discover tv remotes. So you have to trick alexa by setting a remote to every device as a tv remote. WELL... it happens that alexa also discover scenes! With that being said. I didn't trick alexa by using tv remote for all my devices, instead I create scenes and works perfectly! If you're not sure how to do it here's an example of what I did. My projector is controlled via IR and has two different buttons for ON and OFF. When I need to turn it off the OFF button must be pressed twice so, I create a universal remote on the IHC app, ON and OFF buttons were programmed, then I created 2 scenes in the same app one called "projector on" where contains one press of the ON button from the projector remote. And a second scene called "projector off" which contains two presses of the button off of the projector with a gap of 3 seconds in between. Now with these two scenes created you go to your alexa app and discover your scenes, both will show up so you just need to create an alexa routine where you say for example "alexa turn on movie mode" and in my case I add the "projector on" scene and add my smart bulbs to turn them all off. Works as I wanted to work. Then you keep doing the same for all devices, create a scene for every press of universal remotes and bring these button presses to alexa a scene and include them on routines. Hope this helps. Update Nov 04: connection between alexa and ibroadlink is broken. Alexa is accepting voice commands related to the RM pro , but the RM Pro is not executing them. If you control them thought the IHC app the RM pro will execute then successfully. only vida alexa is not working right now. Will keep you posted. Please fix! UPDATE: WORKS AGAIN! THANKS

Great WiFi-connected IR controller!

This guy is very well done. It transmits IR very well, almost as well as the RM03. The RM03 is like as if it's a massive ball of IR light with every command, but it costs more money. The Mini3 does a great job, just not quite as extreme. You can put this unit pretty much anywhere in the room and everything will see it, either directly or reflected. We have two Broadlink units right now. One is this Mini3, and the other is an RM03. This Mini3 does IR-only, but does a great job of it. That Mini3 is controlling our kitchen A/C unit with no issue. The RM03 does IR as well as certain RF frequencies. If you want to control any RF-controlled outlets, like Etekcity Wireless Remote Control Electrical Outlet Switch for Household Appliances, Wireless Remote Light Switch, White (Learning Code, 5Rx-2Tx), for example, you would want the RM03. But if all you need is IR, you should get this Mini3 as it's cheaper and does a fantastic job with IR. The Android software for these units works just fine, but it's a bit confusing to set up initially. If you work at it, you'll get it. After you get it set up, you will have no problem. Be sure to setup the profile backup feature as that will help keep you from losing your config, plus you get the added bonus of being able to share your remote control configurations with other users (especially your spouse or kids, like I do). The only thing I wish the Android software would do is allow you to enable some form of snap-to-grid. It's a bit hard to line up all the buttons in a nice way when using the user-defined "random sort" remote. There is a great Tasker plugin that you can use to control your Broadlink devices, if you're into that sort of thing (I certainly am!).

Works Great with my IR Fireplace!

Works Great! The only unit on the market that will turn on/off my IR Fireplace using any Echo device. After setting it up, all I say is “Alexa, turn on the Fireplace” or “Alexa, turn the Fireplace on”. The trick in setting it up with this device is to set it up as a Television, then use the Fireplaces Remote to input the on/off button (unit can learn the Remotes buttons) and then rename the “Television” to “Fireplace”. People who come over are impressed when I simply say “Alexa, turn on the Fireplace”. After setting it up, go to the Alexa app and click on the find new device button and you are all set! Some people are complaining that this will only work with TV’s using Alexa and you have to “trick” it to use some other things like I did. This is true, but it’s NOT the fault of this device, but it is a limitation of the Echo at this time.

great shortcut, esp when you have streaming gadgets to load (roku) and don't want to find the remote first.

This gadget had been great! Alexa cannot turn on the smart TV if it's off and not receiving signals. I walk in and say "Alexa turn on the TV"- the LG TV comes on as well as the Vizio soundbar, and we're good to go. It takes a bit setup to get all the remotes signals saved, I still have to do some more... but worth it. Alexa does get a bit confused when I tell her "stop" (aka "shut up i didn't ask you alexa") and she turns off the TV right in the middle of whatever you were doing. This only happens when I say "stop" command too close to the "turn on tv" command (so she's still in TV mode at that point)

Great device, easy to set up.

I had to use the custom template for my AC but was able to use the regular TV template for my TV and HDMI Switch. I'm hoping they update the app to support Google Assistant and/or IFTTT eventually. There's hacky ways to do it but after trying for a while I couldn't get it to work so I gave up spending much time on it. As far as the regular app goes it worked fine except using the AC template with my AC I had to use the custom template for all the button but that's fine.
