I'm a hospital nurse, so having a good retractable badge holder is important as opposed to the lanyard type since I am leaning over patients beds a lot and don't want it in my way. I kept trying to buy the fancy decorative kinds online with the bling and cute sayings on them but they kept breaking. I got really tired of having to replace them so wanted something that would last. Enter this badge holder. Ive been using the same one for 6 months and no issues. I like that it has both the clip on the back and the clip in the top depending on how I want to wear it.

The badge holder has a duel wearable design: you can either attach it to your belt loop via caribener style or use the clip on back to slip in on your belt itself. Each has it's own advantages depending on how you plan to use it. Caribener Style: Most secure design hanging from your belt loop of your pants. It's ideal if you need you just need a wireless/NFC badge access to the building or to clock in/out for work. The caribener is easy to put on, but a bit tough to remove especially when it's not right in front of you. Also it may dangle around a bit when speed walking (or faster speed) depending on how your badge is positioned (vertically or horizontally) Clip Style: The clip is very tight on the badge holder which is good since you don't want it to hang loose. It fits very securely to your belt, pants itself, or shirt pocket. It doesn't dangle around a lot when active like the caribener style, but the caribener portion sticks out a bit which looks very odd. Also the clip may have a shorter shelf life compared to the caribener style depending on how rough you are with it. Clip style is ideal if you need to physically hand off your badge to someone often, have to hang your badge above the waist, or if you use your card holder as a money/credit card wallet and need to unclip it for access. Retractable cord works very well. Love the zip-line like sound it makes when in use. The build quality of the badge holder is of really good quality. All the attachment points are very tight as sturdy for more security. It's larger than what it looks in the stock photos, but it's very light weight. Overall depending on how and what you use your badge for there's a different style of wear for everyone.

I have been using these for a while. Actually, I have been using the same one, I gave the other 4 away to colleagues. No ones has just "fallen apart". I wear mine at my waist using the clip hook, and it moves around a lot more than if it's clipped up at your chest, and I have had no problems at all. The other reviewers saying that it "falls apart" do not realize that it's MEANT to be taken apart so that if you want to use the clip that's on the backside you won't have a hook snagging things. The only complaint I have is that the rubber thing that's meant to soften the impact between the main part of the reel and where you clip your badge rubs the string and causes it to wear down. Overall this is the best badge reel I have found and the most durable!

These are great! There is a slip-on clip in the back, and a carabiner on the top. The cord is very thin but strong. This is perfect for captivating a cell in my pants pocket. It is long enough for comfortable use but short enough so it does not hit the floor when dropped. Friends admire it, so I have been handing out these to them. Attached are pics of how I copied friends with iPhones. You can also buy rings to attach the phone to the lanyard or your finger; they are very popular.

I work in a secure environment that requires badge access continuously when going from office to office, or around the campus. I have worn out and broken several different units in the past. The other issues I have had was the clip design would allow it to dislodge and pop off my belt. This design so far has proven to be the best as it securely hooks onto a belt loop and does not come free. Hence my badge is always where it should be and I am not hunting around looking for it laying on the ground somewhere. It feels like a good quality unit for the price. I recommend this to anyone who climbs in and out of vehicles and wants something more secure than a friction fit belt clip.

I've been using the same clip for about 4 months now, and it is working just as well as Day 1. I expect it to last a good long time. It has dual attachment technology ;-) meaning a gate-style wire that works on the same principle as a carabiner... and a metal clip that can fit over your belt. The retractable reel cord extends a couple of feet, more than enough to reach comfortably as far as your arm can reach. Since you're buying 5 of them, go ahead and give 3 of them away. Keep one just in case, but I doubt you'll need it. ================= UPDATE ======================= It's now 7 months, and I just had a product failure. The spring loaded reel is still working just fine. But the black portion that contains the reel has separated from the chrome outer ring that attaches to a belt loop. If I knew where that outer ring was, I would try to reattach it; I suspect it might give me another 7 months of use. I should add, the reel has been the subject of much play from my 3 young grand daughters. So it's been torture tested many times these past 7 months and has held up perfectly.

These are great! Such a cheap price for a product that doesn't feel cheap at all. I admittedly didn't read/look through the listing very carefully, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that these had a metal clip on the back as well as the carabiner clip. The clip fits very securely -- my work is very physical and the badge holder did not budge and was still in perfect condition at the end of the day. Badge retracts smoothly and easily. No doubt these will hold up well.

I work at a clinic as a front desk receptionist, and we have to use our badges to log into the computers, open doors, get into certain places of the building, etc. So with the badges they gave us they would break apart and I would go through 5 in 1 month. So I looked on Amazon trying to find good badges and stumbled across these. I love the fact that they have the clip on the back so you can slide it on your pants, belt, etc - and the other part that hooks onto a belt loop - all work outfits are different so it's really great to have options. And it isn't cheaply made so it won't fall apart or slip off. I gave some in the pack to my coworkers and they love it too. If mine ever breaks, I will definitely buy these again!

This will be a short review. I purchased these back in 2016 to use with my work badge, and I've had zero issues. I've gotten some similar products from the big box stores and all of them failed about 2-4 months after purchase. Typically the spring mechanism broke, so it wouldn't retract any longer, but a few failed for other reasons. After I purchased these, I've been using the same one since. It gets used 5-days a week usually, 5-10 times a day of being pulled out and retracting. It usually sits out in my car, which goes through extreme heat (105) and extreme cold (-20). I'd highly recommend this product.

The quality is better than expected. The clip on the back side has not stretched out and still grips firmly. The carabiner like clip at the top works well, but is a little difficult to remove from belt loops due to its small size. The button on the badge strap fastens securely. The spring in the reel is strong enough to reliably retract with a plastic card holder and two cards. I anticipate this will serve me well for several months with the nylon cord likely being the weak point. https://www.amazon.com/ID-Badge-Holder-Specialist-Black/dp/B004QJ8PZ8/ref=sr_1_9?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1485751481&sr=1-9&keywords=id+card+holder
