Like many devices it is extremely easy to start using. You can be scanning to a text file in seconds. Was great. I am using it in USB Virtual COM mode because I want my app to read from the scanner even if my app is not the current focus on the computer. I found that HID mode (default for just about every barcode scanner out there, including this one) works well, but the operating system hijacks it and owns it. So it won't let you "listen" to the scanner unless your app has the focus. To enable USB Virtual COM mode I had install an extra driver which I got from the seller. They have been VERY responsive. I have talked back and forth with them a lot and they are quick and helpful. The booklet that comes with the scanner has their email address and all the configurations you need. I have several scanners running simultaneously on the same USB wireless plug. To do this I programmed the individual scanners using the codes in the included booklet to use a prefix with a number. ie: 1:abc123def for scanner 1 or 23:abc123def for scanner 23. This way in my app I can determine which scanner was used regardless of how many are actively scanning and all the users can work simultaneously. We'll be doing inventory counting, stock transfers, and other product management processes.

Best Scanner for Price if you need 1D scanning only.

This is a great scanner. It arrived on time and worked right out of the box. All we needed to do to set it up was to plugin in the USB dongle; installed quickly by itself - and then start scanning. To scan, all you need to do is open up the document where you need the information and scan items. It is like a keyboard and puts the code for what you scan in the document. For Excel documents, it puts each entry in the cell below the previous scan. Price-wise, this one is the best deal going. We conducted extensive research into Barcode Scanners. The price ranges are huge. For our needs we required a 1D scanner that would scan items. This completely achieves that purpose. In addition, there are many options for what happens when you scan items. For example, you can have the scanner store the data until you are ready to upload it to a computer or you can have it upload the data as you scan. Overall, we are extremely pleased. We did not spend an arm and a leg and got something that works for us out of the box.

This works well. I tried a different bar code scanner (cheaper) and had to send it back because it would not fit in the supplied cradle. This scanner is very light and easy to use since you are not tethered by the USB cable. I should have purchased this one to begin with. One tiny quibble; the USB dongle supplied is a little wide and will use up two ports if you are using a USB hub where the ports are close together. Other than that, a great little scanner.

Very nice little scanner!

Awesome little tool. I've had the older model symbol scanner for years and finally decided to try this one out. I should have done it a long time ago. The other geeks give me the stink-eye when we're doing a 1,200 unit roll out and they're double-verifying serial numbers manually. I just run down the row... beep beep beep beep beep and I'm done in about 1 minute. lol. Driver Compatibility: I'm sure your mileage will vary, but it's installed on two Windows 10 Pro machines for me with absolutely no driver downloads needed. It's just been plug and play and I'm up and running in seconds.

Feels light and cheap, but it's actually pretty sturdy and the battery lasts quite a while. It worked on my Chromebook even though I use it primarily on my Windows machine. Not a fan of the huge USB dongle, and the beep is annoyingly loud but fortunately you can scan a programming code into it to lower the volume or eliminate the beep altogether. I highly recommend using the programmable features to suit your needs. Ergonomically speaking, I prefer using this at home to my $250 Bluetooth Opticon.

The customer support (via email) was very helpful and got things sorted for us very quickly! The barcode scanner works perfect! Great value for the product

Works Great

It worked right out of the box exactly how I expected. I plugged in the hand held device and charged it. I then connected to the wireless USB on my laptop. I then launched word and scanned various bar codes and the device read and printed the text on a line in my word document. Works just like I needed it.
