Fabulous time saver! Strongly recommended for those larger shrubs. I cannot say enough good things about this hedge trimmer. It is lightweight and powerful enough to really cut 3/4 inch branches with ease. Fully extended, it is just over 9 feet long. The laser-cut blade is much sharper out of the box than stamped metal blades on similar units. The corded version is great around the house and you do not need to mess with 2 cycle gas engines or proprietary batteries. I ordered both this trimmer and the heavier version that could be converted from a pole trimmer to a regular hedge trimmer. I decided to keep this version because of the lighter weight and easier handling. It is easy to trim the top of small trees by angling the blade and pointing the trimmer straight up through the tree. This is a perfect pole trimmer and saved me hours and hours of work.

A little awkward to operate due to the weight at the end of the pole, but definitely allows you to trim those large bushes. It even trims semi-thick branches. First use was on 7 foot high hedges that are about 4-5 feet across. The regular hedge trimmers were to short to cut across the top without reaching far from a ladder = unsafe. Then I used it to tame some large wild bushes with ease.

Less time standing on the ladder on a hot day. I'm about 6' and can clear a 10' tall section and there is adequate pole extension to spare. It's handled well last season. I have a 120' long hedgerow that's shared with my neighbor (5' - 10' cross-sections), as Association Bylaws prohibit fences. This is the tool required and the price is most competitive that I've researched. I also recommend this product even for trimming at waist-height.

The Hedge trimmer I always wanted but could never find and regular retailers!! All I can say is WOW! Took it out of the box expecting decent but not great based on reviews that had eluded to some parts being flimsy--not the case at all. Assembly took just a couple minutes and I put the tool immediately to use. Its incredible, sharp and precise, easy to extend and support (not too heavy). I managed to trim two different Olive Tree areas in my yard that each take the better part of a day using ladders and a 24" trimmer and a lot of scary leaning over--in just 2 hours. 5:1 time savings on my labor, worth every penny. I'd buy this thing again in a hot second.

Great tool, does a great job with what you need to do an is great at getting branches up high, just wish it had a handle on the bar to hold on to a little bit better, other than that it's great. Can't complain about anything, only complaint is that I have is that my neighbors keep wanting to borrow it from me.

I have been using a gas hedge trimmer for years. It does a good job but is very, very heavy. We have a bush in our front yard that is about 10 feet tall. In the past I have to drag out the ladder, fire up the trimmer and stand on the ladder to trim the top and sides of this bush. I cannot reach the back closest to the house from the ladder so I have to climb through the bush. A few weeks ago I lost my balance and thought for sure I was going to end up in the bush with the trimmer. I decided enough was enough and went on a mission to find something different. I was very intrigued with this trimmer. The concept of being able to stand on solid ground and reach not only the top but all sides of the bush. I love the way with the push of a button the head pivots to multiple different angles. The telescoping handle allows me to extend the trimmer for trimming where I could never reach before. It is lightweight which for me is a big deal as I am a medium sized woman. I am extremly pleased with my purchase and the fact that I will no longer be entertainment for all my neighbors!!!!

I don't usually write reviews on Amazon but after using this tool all weekend, I have to concur with all the positive reviews. This thing is a work horse and allowed me to trim my 14-foot bushes instead of paying a crew to do it. It cuts through thick branches and does everything it claims to do. Sure, it can be a bit unwieldy when fully extended but not sure if that can be remedied. Besides, it's a good upper body workout. Seriously though, it does take some upper body strength to use it fully extended for any amount of time. For the most part, I was on the ground and it was not a problem because of the articulated head. I used it on a ladder too and it got the job done. It's a corded tool but the cord was no problem and a battery would make it even heavier and need charging. If you have this and a smaller power trimmer you are good to go. Don't hesitate. Buy this tool.

I picked this over the conversion model because it is 1 lb lighter. The 4.8 amp motor cuts hedges cleanly and easily. I started to use it instead of my older traditional trimmer (only 2.9 amp) and found I could do so by shortening the pole and taking a wide hold on it. It actually improved my cutting, by making it less choppy. Of course, tight spaces might be difficult.

I have a 50' row of Arborvitae shrubs that are 15' tall and 8' to 10' wide, and the kicker is that you can't get to the back side of the shurbs, so all trimming must be done from one side. As you can guess, giving them a haircut is quite a job. In the past I have rented a long handled gas powered trimmer, but when I tried to rent it this year they said that it had broken and since there was hardly any demand for it, they weren't going to replace it. A couple of years ago I paid a lawn care guy to trim them for me but that cost me $500, so I wasn't wanting to do that again. So, after researching online I bought the GarCare pole hedge trimmer. Just got through trimming the shrubs so thought I'd post a review while it is still fresh in my memory. I obviously can't speak to longevity of the device, but I can definitely speak to the features. Ok, let's start with the CONS: For me, there's only one, actually. As others have stated, it is definitely heavy, especially if, as I did, you are standing on the 2nd from top step of a 14' ladder and using the trimmer in fully extended mode, trying to reach the far side of a 10' wide row of shrubs. It's doable, but it's definitely not easy. It would be really terrific if they made a model with the electric motor at the end of the handle (like the long pole gas trimmers) rather than at the cutting blade, although I know that raises the complexity of the device. In any case, I almost don't want to list this as a "CON" because the device definitely works as designed and intended. It might be better to call it an "observation" rather than a "con", but it's definitely something to be aware of if you are looking at purchasing this trimmer. Ok, now for the PROS: The "laser" cutting blade is SHARP!!!! This thing cut through my 1/2 to 3/4" thick shrub stems with ease. This is extremely important since, as noted above, when you are holding this at full extension you want it to cut fast so that you don't have to hold it fully extended any longer than necessary. This thing just blazed through my shrubs. Amazing! The build quality seems to be excellent. I was a bit worried that something that extends as long as this does might be flimsy when extended, but it isn't. The slider connections are solid and well designed and the tube slider slides effortlessly. I was constantly adjusting the length from as short as possible to full extension while standing on the aforementioned 14' ladder and never had a problem getting the adjustment that I needed. So, in summary, this trimmer was a terrific purchase! Hopefully it will stand the test of time, since I plan on using it for years to come. Unless, of course, they come with a model with the motor built into the handle end... ;)

A very high quality tool. Some have stated how tiring it can be to use. If you hold it only with your arms, it can wear you out fairly quickly. You should support the end against your waist to let your body bear the weight and to also stabilize the tool. I didn't get tired at all when I did that. It also comes with a nylon shoulder strap for this purpose but I have not yet learned the best way to use it. Be sure to utilize the blade tilt, which is very easy to adjust and can be set to multiple angles. I wish I had bought this a long time ago--I'm lucky I was never injured climbing an unsteady ladder. Finishing the job is also much quicker without having deal with a ladder. I kind of look forward to trimming our tall bushes now, whereas I'd dreaded it before.
