Works out well on sleeping infant
It worked out well once we realized that a the baby should probably be asleep to create the mold. He freaked out soooo bad it ended up messing up the mold beyond repair and we had to buy another casting set. In the end it turned out perfect!

I almost cried when removing the cast
The casts came out so beautifully, I almost cried when removing them from the form. Keep in mind, the photos are the casts straight out of the mold and BEFORE any touch ups. I'm so happy I can have this reminder of how tiny my son's little hands and feet were when he was only a month old. Let me tell you how easy these kits were.. we did both hands and both feet, one at a time and he was awake and screaming by the second cast and we still got all of them done and they came out nearly perfect. I would definitely suggest going warmer with the water, we tried going a little cooler with the first cast so we had extra time and the cold temperature with the length that we had to hold him in the molding stuff made him so mad that he kicked his foot up right as it was hardening and the tops of his toes came out flat looking because of it. Thankfully the cute little bottoms of his feet came out perfectly and the kits were so forgiving that I don't even care. Warmer water = more comfortable temperature for baby and less time they have to be handled so your mold will come out flawlessy. (One of us held him up straight while giving him a bottle to distract him, while the other person held his foot or hand in the molding stuff). All I know is I'm definitely going to use these kits again once he turns a year old. Beware, the powder does fly up in the air when you're dumping it. Cut the bags open across the top, don't rip them open like we did (powder.Everywhere.) and use a bigger mixing bowl first and then transfer it into the bowl you're going to use the cast for. We tried mixing it right into the container the kit came with and, once again, powder everywhere. We just used a big tupperware. Good luck and have fun! These are worth the price point. Nothing can replace how touching it is to have these keepsakes.

Must do for newborns
This is a must do for newborns!!!! We had to do this twice because of user error. Advice: Make sure baby is full on asleep. Make sure everything is ready to go before getting started. Follow detailed provided instructions accept.... Use slightly warm water and have the rubber set faster!! We split one pack of the casting powder between two solo cups (we trimmed down a bit) and did both hands newborn sized hands with one pack of mix. Mix and set one hand in rubber then mix and redo second hand separately (not at same time). Then you can plaster both hands at the same time. Good luck!!

Get it.
Don't hesititate to get this. It works great and I couldn't be happier. I casted my daughters foot and hand at 6 weeks and my sons as well.. it's amazing to look back on how tiny they were. It gets every detail, every little wrinkle. I put my daughters in a shadow box with her hospital things.

I've already bought a second box
I love it! I've already bought a second box. I'm so happy I went with the pearl. It looks great. Tip: be sure and follow the directions. The plaster/mold hardens quick.

Kit includes paint to give product desired finish
I used the product to make a casting of my newborn daughter’s foot. I like how it includes two packages, so you could use one for a hand (as well as a foot) or both feet, or both hands... An important thing to mention is that the material used for the actual casting is like a plaster of Paris and it is that white color. The manufacturer includes paint in the kit which is used to give the product the colored look of the final product (I chose the pearl color). It was pretty simple and not very labor intensive... if you do have a newborn though, this is definitely a two person project (unless your baby is super chill)... bc even though it sets up quick, you can’t really tend to the baby (if they’re fussy) and complete all the steps in the required time frame needed.

Great for casting feet
Well, we did not dare try our newborn's hand, but the kit worked great for one of her feet. A few things that I found out: - it took longer than I expected for the mold mix to thicken and change color. Right when I thought it would never lighten, it did. - same for the foot casting. We had to hold her foot still for longer than expected, but that did give us some time to get a good position. The rest of the process went smoothly. We only had to use one set, and are saving the other for a 6 month mold. I would definitely buy this as a gift for any new parents!

Amazing details but ankles/wrist don’t form?
The saving grace of this relatively intensive and delicate process is that it really does look incredibly life-like and didn’t leave mess/smell/stain on baby. I will say. I’ve done 3 molds now- 2 feet and 1 hand of my 5 month old but for some reason the ankle/wrist - the highest portion of the mold- didn’t seem to set with the cement and the water pools at the top but instructions didn’t mention anything about that but we followed the instructions exactly and got this result each time.. would really like to know how to fix this

LOVE but Word of Caution
I have a dog who is aging and will be going to doggy heaven soon. I used BOTH packets of rubber molding material because he is a large dog. Instructions said to mix until no longer pink which I did. As soon as there was no pink I tried inserting his paw into the molding material but it was already too solidified so I had to throw it away ;-( The instructions also said that the warmer the water the quicker it would set; I made the water a little warm which may have been the problem. I have purchased another kit and will try again with room temperature water. Also, the instructions are very vague. If you choose to use this product (which I LOVE!) you might want to watch a few online videos first.

Very Easy and it works!!
Very easy to use!! My little one (3 months) moved a little bit, but stopped as he felt the plaster hardening. The plaster is rubbery so it did not hurt little one at all. My husband was holding him, making him laugh as I was counting the seconds. Foot and hand came out awesome! I would agree to make sure to have someone holding your little one, so you can work the plaster w/hand and/or foot. The process from plaster to casting does not take long either. I let the hand and foot cast air dry for the full 7 days and glazed it within 30 mins. Once glazed, it looked great! Every detail of the wrinkles of the skin and nails showed...I would use this product again!!
