Purchased for a "hackintosh" build that wasn't cooperating with the built in motherboard sound. I directly hooked up a pair of small and cheap external speakers. Sound quality and volume was surprisingly good. Much better than I expected. Much louder than I expected. macOS (on a real Mac or a hack) recognizes this without any fuss — just shows up automatically in System Preferences > Sound. No drivers or fiddling; it just works.

Works as Advertised. What I did was quite complex, and didn't know if it was going to work - but it did! I needed a line input for a radio into a Dell Proliant GL380 Gen 6 server...and I needed it passed through to a Windows 7 virtual machine. At first it didn't work......but since the guest machine was not a physical machine, I had to passthrough hardware - by telling the ESXi vmware host to pass through the USB controllers (add them as a PCI Device in the virtual machine) It worked, no drivers required (as it stated) - it's cheap, it ships fast, and I'm happy!

I initially left a 2-star review because my interface had a very noticeable humming sound on the output. (I knew that the problem didn't come from the computer or the speakers, since I had multiple audio interfaces to test with :)) The seller offered to send me a replacement interface, and on the replacement interface, there was no noise issue. It was the same USB chipset and everything; so I guess the first one I got was defective. I'm updating my review to 5 stars, and kudos to the seller for the excellent follow-up!

I received the audio adapter in pristine condition and in fact was working great. The sound was really clear but after a couple days of using it, it did not last. After I plugged it in, it created a static sound and it was just impossible to use at that point. Not what i expected. UPDATE: I received the product and after a couple days, the adapter continues to work and sounds very clear. I'm very pleased with the customer service as well (they replaced my original).

This is a handy little device if you need it. It is well made and works. I bought it because the audio port on the front of my computer took a ..... The replacement part was $80 plus shipping. There was an added bonus in that the audio cord is now plugged into the back of the computer instead of the front.

Maybe it's just this one but the digital output seems 'choppy' and I am unable to use it. Very nicely made though! **edit** I don't know what the problem was but it seems to work fine now. This after I bought another product..of course. But this is nice metal case, gold plated connector for USB. Having the electronics on a short cable like this takes a lot of strain off your USB port as opposed to the 'cableless' versions. So why did it not work before. Well, lots of variables but I changed ports, connectors, cables, etc. and I can't seem to make it break! So I think you can ignore the previous (original) post. What I must say though is that because of my original low rating, CableCreation contacted me right away and wanted to get to the bottom of the problem. You just don't find this very often for a <$10 product. But I sure won't hesitate to order from them again. Thanks!

This adapter gives and receives excellent sound quality. I definitely prefer this adapter with the pigtail as it takes no more room than a normal USB, when plugged into a laptop. The product is of exceptional quality, and the pigtail wire is of the same high quality. Just plug your headphones into adapter, and plug adapter into your computer, your computer will recognize the adapter, and you will have convenient quality reception. I have NOT received any type of compensation for this or any other of my reviews.

Bought this because using headphones on my macbook would open iTunes and start playing whatever its black little heart desired. Something to do with Apple using a slightly non-standard 3.5mm audio jack, so any standard plugs may misbehave a bit. This little thing works like a charm, just go to system preferences --> sound -->output and set it to CableCreation/USB. Otherwise it'll just sit there taking up a USB port. Pros: Works like it claims. Feels nice and solid. Cons: None, really. It's on Apple for making this necessary.

I got the pink one so it'd be quick to identify to get it safely back to my desk at school. One of the computers in my classroom had both headphone jacks broken. This adapter is the perfect solution. I have one class where a student sits in that seat. That person knows to grab the adapter from my desk and return it before the next period. So far, no complaints.

I bought this to fix a laptop that had a problem with the headphone jack (only one ear worked). This fixed the problem. I bought this particular model, as I like having a few inches of cord, so you don't have a huge plug coming directly out of the USB port. I also tried it on another computer, which had a problem where the motherboard always thought the front headphone jack was plugged in, This fixed that problem as well,. Overall, I'm really happy with this product - the only problem is that I tried to order another one, and it was out of stock.
