Excellent Magnifier for the price

I am not understanding all the negative reviews. I just got mine and perhaps I will be back in a week screaming, ... but I don't think so. I do not find it cheaply made at al. No the handle is not rosewood cut on a lathe. Hardly The frame appears to be a cast metal and the glass is clear and magnifies clearly across the width of the glass at a 6" distance without bending at the edges I just bought another for my wife

I like the detachable handle as this will go into my camp bag as a potential fire starter. I checked the glass lense when I received it and it is distortion free enough to be a useful magnifier for reading some small print paperback books, too. So, overall a quality item! Also, came with a drawstring carrying bag! I will point out it is not 10X, more like 3.5, but I bought this magnifier not for its looks, but for the glass lense....if you carefully read the descriptions of many magnifiers on Amazon, you will find most are plastic, easily scratched and heavy in distortion, but not this lense!

Very beautiful and very handy

I bought these because I kept misplacing my readers-glasses. They are good quality, very attractive and come in nice cloth pouches. I keep one in my purse (to use while shopping or reading menus) and one on the kitchen counter, to read recipes, labels, etc. They are the right size and probably because they are "different-feeling", I haven't misplaced either of them in the 2 months I've been carrying them around. Very pleased with my purchase.

An impressive and eye-catching piece for my desk.

Entirely perfect for my needs. Ideal lens size, very handsome antique look and has a nice heft to it about (the weight of a DVD remote control), that gives the impression of a much more expensive piece. Looks great in the leather cup on my desk. Contrary to one reviewer, this DOES have a metal frame and the last thing I would call this, is "cheap" looking. The handle is made of a heavy grade plastic and mine has an elegant rosewood design that looks great with the gold-tone metal frame. Any truthful buyer would not be disappointed with this purchase.

Stylish magnifier that lives up to the name

I needed a couple of simple magnifiers in other parts of the house so I would not need to dash from one end of the house to the other to get a magnifier. These fill the bill perfectly. They are not too big measuring 3 1/8 " or 84 MM wide for the glass. The whole magnifier is 6 1/2" or 165mm long. The best part is the bonus! These come in a very nice bag to store them. A good buy that could be a nice gift.

A Great Tool to Aid in Reading

I hate to admit it, but for those of us older folks who find our reading glasses are no longer sufficient, this item has become a true help. As I spent much of my career staring at a computer screen, and still do to a large degree, I find my vision is simply not as sharp as it used to be. I moved to reading glasses 6 or 7 years ago as a solution and that got me by. However, I now find that the printed word in a book or an advertisement sometimes requires some additional resource to read comfortably. Truly, the fine print has become too fine. But this magnifying glass has helped out on more than one occasion. I like its slightly oversized lens producing a 10x magnification that provides enough width and height to allow reading more than just a word or two. Its mahogany handle is comfortable and easy to hold and the bag that accompanies it for storing prevents scratching. For a quick go-to product that helps solve minor issues with reading, this is highly recommended.
