It works! (if used as instructed)

I bought this b/c I just had gotten a brand new leather computer chair and my cat decided to use it as a scratching post. I followed the instructions exactly as stated, spray on the area 3 to 4 times per day with your cat there telling your cat "NO!" after spraying and getting him/her close enough to smell it (please never ever spray your cat with this) if done right your cat will get it. On the downside you do have to be dedicated to doing this 3-4 times per day for several days, it does take some time and patience but it has been 5 months now and my cat has never touched the chair again, she won't even try to sleep on it, so it works.

AMAZING!!

We have a 9 month old kitten that just loves to scratch on the living room carpeting and has ruined it. She also likes to use her claws on the sofa, so I decided to try this out. I put her in front of the carpet where she ripped it and I sprayed this repellent in front of her and told her “NO”. That’s all it took. After I sprayed the carpet and the sofa, she has completely stopped scratching! Wish I bought this sooner, before buying a new floor!

Seems to be doing the trick!

We splurged on a big wool/silk living room rug, and have 2 cats that have their claws. Despite having several fabulous scratching posts, ramps and horizontal scratchers in close proximity to the rug (and new sofa and chair), they still for some reason like to scratch the rug, which is pulling up the pile. I went so far as to tape down heavy duty aluminum foil on the areas they seemed to scratch at the most. I found the Claw Withdraw spray, and thought it was worth a try, certainly better than a foil covered rug! When it arrived, I tested it on an area under the sofa, and it seemed fine, no staining or dye transfer. I sprayed it on the areas they scratched previously. It's recommended to spray 3x/day for the first week. I noticed after the first day they weren't scratching those areas, but still scratched the in sprayed areas. So, I sprayed the whole rug. It's been a week since I got the spray, and they've scratched a couple more times, so I spray the entire rug before going to bed every night. So far so good! I definitely need to get in the habit of clipping their nails regularly, but until they learn the rug is off limits, the Claw Withdraw seems to be working for us. The scent is strong, it is made of herbal extracts, and reminds me of a lemongrass kind of scent, which I think is nice, but my boyfriend finds it to be too strong, so I spray when he's not around. I will continue to use this spray as long as it works in curbing my cats rug scratching.

A True Five Star Product!

We've tried many products to keep our cat from clawing things. This is the first one that has worked 100%. We have to refresh it every two or three days but we're hoping that she will get the idea. Some reviewers have complained about the smell. There is a citrus like smell but it's not offensive and easy to get used to.

Working great

Item received as described online. My cat scratches on couches & doorways. Spraying the Claw Withdraw on everything he scratches & he so far has stopped the scratching. Also trying to stay on top of trimming his nails as recommended in the directions and providing a scratch pad. My cat responds greatly to cat nip, so I'm not sure, but maybe his response to smell (catnip) has a strong response to this spray.

Product actually works!

Sharing my home with cats approx. 45 yrs tried many brands/types of deterrents from sprays, to alarms, to sticky tape. Other than scat mats, nothing helped keeping cats off furniture and/or kitchen counters. Scat mats are great but need to be on a flat surface. I needed to prevent my recent rescues attacking an expensive rug hanging on a wall. Though skeptical about trying another product, I was glad to come across Claw Withdraw. It has a pleasant, lingering scent, product does work, I made sure the cats watched as I sprayed the rug. Now all I have to do is show them the bottle and they run. It's a good product, from a great company who cares about customer satisfaction.

Knock it off!!!!!

We aren't yelling that at that cat anymore!!! This product works! To begin, we held the cat near the couch when we sprayed the product for the first time, she wiggled, squirmed, tried to get away, but we kept her near it as we sprayed the arms, the front of the seat cushions and the back. She didn't touch it that night. Before bed the next night, we repeated the process. The third night we waited for her to be sitting near the couch to begin spraying again. She has not scratched that couch since! We are following the instructions and spraying every night. The only time she has scratched is when we forgot to spray one night. The fragrance is citronella. Some reviewers say it is strong, yes it is, but it dissipates quickly and we have found that we like it...maybe it will keep mosquitos away too, haha! Highly recommend this product to save your furniture! I just ordered a second bottle. Wish I had found it before she ruined my favorite chair.

Works!!

I bought this product not knowing if it would work, but deciddd to give it a try. I just bought a second bottle, not becausevit didn't work, but I want to make sure I always have it. You will need to re-apply, more often in the beginning but less and less as time goes on. I recently bought new furniture. I applied it, and he does come up to the couch, sniffs it,!then just walks away. I'm happy.

Works if done right

This works. There's an important step though - do it WHEN the cat is watching and close by the item you are spraying, I did it when I saw my cat meandering around getting ready to claw then sprayed the chair with her right there. She did an equivalent to a nose-wrinkle in cat language when I did this but she did STOP scratching. IMPORTANT: If you do it when they are not around they will not associate the negativity of a spray to the scent and will still scratch. Cats HATE anything that sprays. Just make sure to RESPRAY about every 2 weeks, WHILE the cat is there close and watching - that makes a huge difference for them to observe you 'marking' it for yourself and therefore they see you removing what they thought was their 'toy' ownership. In turn, (while cat was watching) I then rubbed some catnip on her cat tree, petted her for positive reinforcement which ensures she understands her 'toys' from my 'toys.'

Great training tool, it works well and smells good

It has a really nice smell, and helped us keep the cats claws out of the furniture. Note: this isn't a magic product that is going to stop your cats from touching it ever with just one spray. You need to spray your furniture once or twice a day (in front of the cats) and put catnip on the places you DO want them to scratch. Make sure you have plenty of things FOR them to scratch. They need to, that's why they're doing it. It's not to get back at you or something. This is meant to be a training product to help get them in the habit of scratching the right places and not the wrong ones. We even started doing positive reinforcement, telling them "Good boy/Good girl" if we caught them scratching the correct things. It works if you put the effort and time in.
