It does everything I need for a great price. Perfect for an entry-level tech/hobbyist. -- With this meter available, no one should waste a penny on a cheap Chinese import at Harbor Freight, etc. Pros: (1) Fairly rugged. (2) Good quality leads. (3) There's a dedent near the tip of each lead that provides a firm grip for an alligator clip or precision clip. (4) Easy to read display. (Very Minor) Cons: (1) The continuity test setting that I use the most is far away from OFF (5 o'clock position vs. 12 o'clock). (2) The flip out stand is shorter than I'd like.

This multimeter works well for me, and it should work well for anyone so long as they know what they're getting and don't expect something they're not going to get. For example, it clearly states the number of times per second it pulses (for continuity testing for example) so if that speed is too slow for you you'd best move on to another device. For me, this device works great and the construction of the unit is surprisingly solid. I have a more expensive multimeter that has some flex in the body that I've never felt comfortable with but this little unit doesn't flex at all. Quite nice. Also, when I first got my meter, one of the leads had a short in the wire, but upon contacting customer service they immediately sent me out a pair of new leads. They were also extremely friendly. What a great experience and frankly something I've come to not expect when buying a less expensive product. It's nice to know a company will stand behind their product and provide excellent service even if it isn't an expensive item. Would buy this again in a heartbeat if I needed another one.

I want to comment on both the seller and the product. I ordered this because it was inexpensive and had good reviews and I do not have frequent use for a multimeter. My instrument arrived on time and well packaged. It worked perfectly for the few minutes that it worked at all. But not being very electrically oriented, I damaged it by having it on a wrong setting. I chalked it up as a fairly inexpensive lesson. I was not even going to make mention of it to Amazon or the seller because it was not their fault. It was mine. A few days later, Gary, the seller, contacted me to make certain that I was satisfied with my purchase. I explained what happened, and he said, "Let me send you another one." And that is what he did, at no charge to me. The new one, just like the first one, worked perfectly. And I hope that I learned from my first mistake and will make this one last a long time. If it doesn't, it will almost certainly not be the fault of the product. It seems very well made. I am very pleased with the product, but overwhelmed by the level of customer service.

Updated review 5/11/2018: I was promptly contacted by customer service after posting my original review, and they were able to send over another set of leads for the meter. Tested the leads and they work even more reliably than my spare leads. Voltages, resistance, and continuity all work flawlessly! Rating increased to 5 starts for a good product at a great price with excellent customer service! Original Review: The meter itself works great, came packaged nicely, and had some standard length leads with it. Unfortunately, the meter was not reading anything at all! No voltage, no resistance, no amperage, and most importantly, no continuity! So I went ahead and started checking it out, a bent paperclip in the ports for the leads quickly showed continuity! So that means there is an issue with a lead. Checked the positive lead by probing into the COM port, continuity was confirmed. Checked the negative lead in the same fashion, no continuity. The negative lead fits in the ports, and the positive lead is very tight, almost a struggle to remove. The negative lead can be removed easily, and even after spreading the legs on the male end of the connector, it still would not give continuity. No big deal, I have another dead meter so I'll bum the leads from that one, and as stated before, with working leads it performs as expected. Unfortunately I'll have to dock a few points since without those spare leads, I'd have to either buy a spare set of leads or go through a warranty replacement process. I got lucky since I have a set, other people picking up their first entry level meter might not be so lucky. Might be a good idea to pick up a set of leads separately if you are concerned with quality control.

My son needed this for a big AP Physics project. After using it for a few weeks, the fuse blew. His teacher (who's the one who determined why it stopped working for us) said we could get a fuse pretty inexpensively, but we haven't done so yet. The fuse actually could've been blown as a result of user error too. UPDATE- When I posted my original review, the company immediately contacted me & offered a replacement. My son was almost done with his project (that he needed this for) at that point, so I declined. I appreciate a company that stands behind its products though!

Works Excellent! It even holds its own against the expensive models making it that much better. I love the size as it is easy to fit into a technician's toolbox and doesn't take up a lot of room while working either. This model has every function that I will ever need it for and the rubberized outer shell is a nice addition to keeping this from getting damaged from a small/medium sized drop. I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs a multimeter or even just wants to pick one up for learning purposes!

This is awesome! I'm very happy with the purchase. It has an audible continuity test and that was the first thing I used by following the instructions that come with it. The instructions are written very well and explain in good detail. The batteries were already installed. It also has a little stand in the back to have it sit up for ease of readability. Highly recommended and the price is excellent. I bought this to test different wired connections on my Harley motorcycle and it works excellently.

When I bought this, I didn't need the fanciest meter. I needed a second one because I didn't want to risk losing my husband's nicer one in a gymnasium full of kids. I needed a basic one to test a few things for my daughter's 5th grade science fair project. I'm familiar with using these, and figured this would work based on the information and the reviews. This is made out of a cheaper feeling plastic but for the (under $15) price, it's perfectly fine. The 9-volt battery that was included was dead, so I'd consider having one (9V) an extra on hand. Initially I thought that aside from that issue it was fine. However, after using it a bit for a basic to work with my daughter on a science fair project, we could not get any consistent readings and it kept causing errors when compared to our other meter. I did lower my rating and was contacted promptly by AstroAI, to help figure out the problem, which was a faulty lead. They immediately sent a new one and it was indeed the issue. This right there speaks volumes of their company. Replacing the lead, and testing against my other meter, this works just as well as my husband's meter that cost quite a bit more. It may not be as durable for what I need it's great. Knowing how well they responded to the problem, I would buy again in the future.

Having several V/O meters, I found a need for a simple meter steadily growing. This one certainly fits the bill, very easy to use, easy to read (includes backlight too), simple to operate, and the manual operation is a big plus. (for me) The selector knob has a nice solid feel to it, and should last a long time. Overall, very satisfied with this purchase, and if you are in need of a simple meter that works well, look no further this one is it.

I got this on Black Friday, and thanks to my new hobby of building electronic circuits, I use this a lot more than I thought I would. I do wish this had a few more modes, but for $12, I can't and won't complain. I've used this to test resistors and continuity in breadboards and wires. I also used this on an old tractor to determine if it's battery ground wire was bad via resistance and continuity tests. I'm going to check some ATV/motorcycles batteries using it sometime this week and I'm confident in it's reliability and accuracy (Yes I know that there are other multimeters with greater degrees of precision, but again this was $12). My only complaint (and it may not even be valid) is I've tried to test transistors and diodes/LED's that I've verified function properly with this and it doesn't seem to work. But, I'm going off of Internet articles and Youtube videos here, so I'm willing to bet that the problem here is user error, not the multimeter's fault. :)
