I grow to love this laptop riser more each day! I have been working exclusively on a laptop for some time now and didn't realize how much I find myself with a stiff neck from holding my head down. At the lowest setting, this riser is perfect for me. It places my touch screen a little further away than I'd like, but if I'm using the touch screen more than keyboard, I simply don't use the riser. I love that it doubles as a wireless phone charger, too! I have to remove the cover off my phone for it to work, but that's no big deal. It took a few tries to find the right placement to get a charge, but that's super easy once you get the hang of it. I was concerned that it seemed a little flimsy at first, but after a couple weeks, I've knocked it a few times and it just wobbled a little. No problems there!

Alrighty! Computer stuff for this girl! Today's piece of geek heaven is a Kensington SmartFit Ergonomic Laptop Riser for 15.6" laptops and smartphones with QI technology. This little baby comes with a chart to determine the correct height. It is designed for a desktop to provide comfort and ease while using your laptop. I have a sofa with a big flat arm and I have comfortably set this up for my use. When not in use, I simply slide it to the end table. Unfortunately, my iPhone does not have QI technology, but my husband's Samsung 6 does! This stand can be raised and lowered according to preference. It is perfect right now for me and I love the angle. You have cable management under the unit, which is nice. It keeps the surface organized. This is a great ergonomic laptop stand that includes a charging stand for QI enabled phones. If you do not have a QI enabled phone, the Qi device is available on Amazon! In order to use the QI capability, a charger is included that attaches to the riser. You receive all the hardware needed to assemble (so easy, even I can do it) AND power connections for US, UK, EU and AU. Now, if you have a Kensington SD3600 docking zero footprint, there is a spot on this riser for that too. It attaches under the top portion of the riser.

This is a great complement to using a laptop on the desktop. I've already been using another portable laptop keyboard/riser combo and I can't begin to tell you how big of a difference it makes when you can get the laptop screen up near or at eye level...trust me, it's huge. So, this riser is not portable, it does not fold up...but that's ok. Not only does this riser massively improve ergonomics, but it helps to free up some much needed desk space. The footprint for this riser is much smaller than my Lenovo 15.6" notebook, and the Qi wireless charging pad can also be used to place other items on if needed, such as files/folders/papers when you don't need to charge your phone. Out of the box the riser stand needs to be assembled. Assembly is easy, although there are about 4 screws that need to be installed. Otherwise it's all hand assembly. Kensington has devised a somewhat strange method of determining how high to adjust the stand...they provide a hand measuring chart(yes, you measure your hand) and use a table to determine the optimal position based on your hand size...........???? Strange. I don't think this will work all the time simply due to differences in desk/chair height as well as personal preference. The stand is pretty sturdy, although the laptop platform feels a bit small for a 15.6" notebook. The user manual does show a picture that (I believe) depicts that you should not rest your hands on the notebook if you happen to be using the notebook keyboard, I just don't think it's strong enough to support the pressure. The platform also has some wire guides underneath that will allow you to 'install' your laptop's power cord so that it will not be generally visible...a nice touch. There's also a mounting point if you happen to be using a Kensington docking station, this will attach the dock to the bottom of the laptop platform. The wireless charging pad works great! Sure is nice to be able to just toss the phone on the pad and have a fully charged phone when you leave. There's also an LED built into the pad that shows the charging status...very nice! Overall this is a great bit of kit, and again, if you've never used a laptop riser you don't know what you're missing!

When I was given the opportunity to use the Kensington SmartFit Laptop Riser I wasn’t incredibly excited. Not because of the product, but because I didn’t really think I had any use for it. When it comes to technology and gadgetry, if your product isn’t useful, it doesn’t interest me. That being said, I decided to give it a shot and see if it would work for me. I’m glad I did. I know that people using multiple monitors or using a laptop in place of a desktop use laptop stands to raise the screen to either a comfortable height or to have side by side displays with a secondary monitor. I don’t fall into either of these categories. I use my desktop as a desktop and my laptop as a laptop. For this very reason, the idea of a laptop riser made no sense to me. It occurred to me, though, that the SmartFit could be used beyond its intended purpose. We’ll come back to that. In the office, the Kensington SmartFit riser does exactly as it promises. This is an adjustable laptop riser with a Qi wireless charging pad built in. The SmartFit riser features adjustable legs and color coded fitting chart to help the user get their system set up according to their size. This enables the user to have a custom fit riser at their workstation to promote a more comfortable and ergonomically correct posture. That in itself is incredibly useful. However, Kensington took it a step farther and built in a charging pad for any Qi compatible devices. In my mind, that is the perfect use of the space beneath the riser. As if those two features weren’t enough. The SmartFit riser is also designed with “Zero Footprint Mounting”. This means that the Kensington universal docking station can be mounted underneath to free up some desk space. If your desk looks like mine you can appreciate that. There are also channels built into the underside of the riser to hold the cords going to your laptop to maintain a neat appearance and keep the cords out of the way. Speaking of cords, the power supply for the SmartFit comes with all the required international plugs so no matter where you’re using it you’ll have power. My laptop is a Macbook Pro. This is getting pretty close to the maximum dimensions the SmartFit riser is designed for. The tray holds my laptop at a good angle and no matter how much I try to jar or shake the riser, my computer won’t slip out. Since I don’t use my laptop at a desk I’m using the SmartFit riser on my nightstand. It works perfectly. I cast my laptop display to my 55″ TV and use the charging station to charge my phone while it plays music through my Bluetooth speakers. This frees up space on my nightstand. The point I’m trying to make is even if you have no intentions of using the SmartFit Riser as it was intended it is still a very handy item. Contrary to my original thoughts, I feel like this product is very useful in the home or the office.

Love my new laptop riser! I purchased through my company and there was not an option for the rise with the wireless charger. Wish I could have purchased that one due to my phone consistently dying. Overall great product, definitely has helped with my sore back at work.

This was awesome to set up! my computer fit snugly on top (macbook pro) and my phone was easily accesible underneath. The wireless charging pad worked well with my galaxy 7 and the phone charged in 2 hours with it from zero battery.

Ok wow! What a fantastic laptop stand! To take full advantage you will need an IQ charging enabled phone. Built well and the IQ charging is heaven. Why didn't someone think of this before?? Epic!
