UPDATE: Customer support replaced my defective device and it works perfectly. Highly recommend. When this product works, it’s great. But unfortunately, it disconnects from my WiFi randomly after being on for about 24 hours. That kind of defeats the whole point of the product. I have to power cycle the device to reconnect it. It took me a few weeks to get this product set up because I was busy with work. By the time I set it up and realized this issue, I was one day outside of the return window. I have emailed PetCube’s support line, but they won’t return my emails. Unbelievable. Don’t waste your money.

I’ll start off by saying this is my first pet camera, so I can’t make any comparisons. I’ve owned this for about a week so I also can’t speak to how well this holds up over time. But in the small amount of time I’ve had it, it’s brought me great joy. I work very long hours and often miss my cat. With this I can either open a live view and see her or speak to her (and listening in to hear any purring that might occur) or with the PetCube Care (which is an extra subscription, but it seems most of these devices do) I can set it to record a video every time it detects the cat moving or if it hears a decently loud noise that it thinks might be the pet. It displays all these short little videos as little animations so you can get a quick preview of what your pet is up to without even clicking in and watching the actual video. Also when watching live you can just press “Facebook Live” and be broadcasting your pet being adorable on your Facebook instantly. The power is a usb to usb c cable to an outlet adapter and that’s pretty great because if the fairly long cable that’s included doesn’t work for you, you can just buy a super easily findable cable of this type that more fits your environment. It’s really a ton of fun to check in on every few hours. Another feature I have not tried out yet but I really like the idea of is that you can set up sharing options and let either the public, selected friends, or selected family view the camera when they choose (or you can schedule different times different people can access the camera, everything here is super customizable from looking through the options) and you can even let them control the laser if they want. Speaking of the laser, I actually think it’s one place there’s room for improvement. Though I’ve gone through the calibration several times, it still has some terrible aim. And it’s sometimes very laggy. The fact that there’s an led that is always on is also annoying. I’d love to be able to have it off if it’s just in a standby mode not recording or streaming or doing anything but sitting there. Or at least the option to. I also think it would be incredible if you were able to rotate the camera. It’s a fixed wide angle and sometimes it’d be nice to be able to pan to see more. I will say that although it’s easy to setup and use, I did encounter a problem when I first got it. The video would be choppy and cut out and when I’d press to see the details it would tell me it was streaming low quality because of a bad internet connection, although the camera is located not very far from a router and I have other things nearby that receive excellent speed. I noticed the firmware on the camera was lower than that on their website and manually updated it and that fixed the problem.

I love it! It's so sleek and small, and the wide angle of the lens gives great coverage! The image is beautiful, and is still impressive in the dark. I got this to help the eldest of my three kitty boys, as our recent move has him a little out of sorts when I am away at work. So far, all three seem to get a kick out of it. 😸 It was very easy to set up, and the companion application is fantastic, too. (My photo shows two of them in the dark. I will be getting a mountable tripod to put it somewhere where they won't mess with it. 😋 They were quick to find out where the laser and my voice were coming from. This photo cracks me up.) EDIT: Now that I have a tripod, this camera truly is amazing. The wide angle sees the entire room my boys and I are currently staying in, and the night vision works in total darkness. It gives me wonderful piece of mind. <3

I purchased the Petcube Play because I wanted a second monitoring device in our house for when we go on short vacation. My wife and I were quite pleased with the previous Petcube product, and we were excited to try the new features of the Petcube Play - predominately the night vision. With previous camera set ups, we could only view our pets and our home during the day, or if we had left a light on. Improvements with this version are definitely worth the upgrade. The set-up on this version of the Petcube is easier than ever. The app gives a short walk through, and then with 2 clicks, you're connected to your home Wi-Fi network. The HD video is quite apparent. The quality of the image and video is much improved! There is no fuzziness to the images anymore, and everything is clean and crisp. After the first day of set up, while I was at work, I was able to catch our new kitty on the table drinking out of water cups that were left on the table (this is her new habit). I quickly turned the sound on through the app and told her sternly to get off the table. She quickly jumped off the table, and attempted to find out where my voice was coming from :) The night vision is a huge plus. The night-vision immediately kicks in when the lights get too low in the room. It works even when all the lights in the house are out. The night vision image is in grey-scale and looks just as clean and sharp as the color video. The only downside so far is that you can only have one Petcube attached to your account. So in order to get this working, I deactivated my old Petcube from my account, activated the new Petcube on my account, and then assigned the old Petcube to my wife's account. We have set each other as friends and have shared our camera's with each other so we have full control of each camera. It's a decent work around, but it would be more convenient to be able to assign multiple cameras to one account.

Petcube Play is a huge improvement compared to the previous version (Petcube Camera). The device got significantly smaller, lighter and has much slicker design. It now uses full potential of its camera: in addition to live HD video stream it also has motion and sound detection, night vision, and record capability to store videos triggered by motion. This turns Petcube Play from just a pet care device into a home surveillance camera. The videos are stored on remote servers and remain accessible even if Petcube Play goes offline. Video and audio quality is amazing and it takes for the app just couple of seconds to connect. You do need to be talking close to your phone mic in order for the sound from Petcube be loud, but at the same time it does great noise reduction. Petcube Play is one of the very few devices that utilizes the new USB-C charging connector, which is reversible so you don't have to do the annoying flipping multiple times to finally plug in the charger — it's pluggable either way. The power cord that comes with the device is 9 ft (2.74m) long which gives much flexibility in camera placement if there is no power outlet right next to it. As previous model, Petcube Play has tripod mount, which allows to position it virtually anywhere and set the required tilt for the best view. Unlike with previous model (especially on early firmwares), the setup of Petcube Play was very smooth: everything worked out of the box, the device quickly picked up WiFi network and configured itself — the whole setup process took me about 30 seconds. The laser also behaves significantly better, but it's still not as smooth as I'd like it to be. It has good precision after calibration: if I tap on the screen the laser will point to the right spot. However what matters the most when playing with a pet is smooth movement, and not as much precision. Laser movement is often very abrupt, especially when I play via cellular connection (which I do most of the times when I'm away). These sudden and abrupt laser movements often left my puppy quite confused, but still may be okay for a cat. However there is a new feature in Petcube Play which makes its laser much more usable — the "Auto Play Mode". In this mode you don't need to use Petcube app to activate the laser — it will activate automatically when the camera senses movement and will play with your pet automatically. Now because random laser movements are managed by the device itself and there is no network lagging involved, the moves are very precise and smooth and got my puppy into play several times. The best thing about the feature — you don't have to do anything, Petcube Play plays automatically. Just don't forget that you enabled "Auto Play", so you don't freak out when the laser activates by itself when you are home :) Another use case for our Petcube Play is to give it to our dog sitters whenever we are away for a while. This gives both us and our friends who take care of the puppy great peace of mind. My overall experience with Petcube Play has been very smooth — the device just works and is very simple to use.

I was surprised by the quality of this product. For the price, I didn't expect such good quality videos and images for both day AND night vision (see attached pics). I not only use it to spy on my cat, but also for overall movement/security in my apartment! The camera is a small black cube, and the power cord is long enough that it can be placed on any surface within about 6 feet of an outlet. Set up: Once the camera is plugged in, you have to download the Petcube app and then use bluetooth to sync the camera to your phone--once set up, it runs on wifi and you don't need bluetooth enabled. The setup in total probably took 15 minutes for me. How it works: You can log in to the petcube app at any time to view your camera feed live, in addition to speaking to your pet through the camera and shining a laser to play with them. Personally my cat has never been around to notice the laser when I check in on her live, so I'm still waiting to investigate that feature...but the sound works great. In addition to the live stream, the camera functions as a motion detector, and will record all movement when you're not around! So when I'm at work, I can watch all the clips of my cat from the middle of the night to see what she was up to in my living room, which is pretty funny. Overall I'm really happy with this purchase--it's added a lot of entertainment to my life because I can check in on my cats movements all day when I'm at work!

This is such a great camera for watching your pet if you want a simple user friendly camera made for exactly that reason! I ordered the rose gold and it is a really nice finish while still looking cute! I really love that this is something that not only works well, but is designed to look very sleek and fancy on your shelf. I do wish they had a high gloss white option, but the rose was a really nice surprise! Setup is 10/10 very very easy to do, they really did a good job making it very painless which I appreciate. I have some home security cameras with app features and I wish they were as quick to set up as the petcube. I have 3 cats so I put this in my living room where they like to hang around so that if my friends peep in on my cube they can always spot a cat to give them a little exercise! The audio feature must be very useful for dogs, for cats it freaked them out a little but I think when I go away on vacation next time they will be a little happier to hear my voice! I also helped my mother get the app on her phone and she was thrilled to be able to pop in and talk to my cats or play with them a little. Camera quality is pretty good, although in low light it is lacking. Best for daytime spying!

Super easy to set up. The wide view captures an entire room from corner to corner, much wider than any other camera I’ve seen. Night vision works great, laser works great, picture quality is great, but sound quality isn’t perfect - you’ll hear a delayed echo on your phone when you turn sound on. Not a major issue though. The only major downside to this product is that you’ll become addicted to watching and playing with your kitties. Why would I do my job at work when I can watch my kittens sleep for 12 hours a day? Maybe the app should track how long you watch the camera for and send you polite reminders that maybe you have an unhealthy addiction...
