Works great for DIY project

I am switching all my light switches to smart switches and since I hardly know what I'm doing I decided to get this to ensure I didn't electrocute myself. Glad I did. Device works perfectly and simply and saved myself from electrocution at least twice.

great product for the price

As a low cost safety device, this is cheap insurance! Dont let one of your employees get injured or killed by a live wire. $10 is a low price to pay for saving someones life

I've had one like this for years - don't know how to read real kind, but this is just great; just get near the wire or wall outlet and it beeps if there's electricity. My old one's battery went south - my fault for not checking the battery. This one is better in that it has a light at the tip. Even electricians have liked this as they reach for their meter. I get mine - they are about to poo-poo this little device, until I show them how it works - then they want one.

Parallel to the big tool brands for cheap...

I’ve lost more high-dollar voltage detectors to leaky batteries than I can count. I needed yet another and decided to gamble on this one. And I’m very glad I did. It works flawlessly, even reading some leftover trace voltage while a device powered down. I’ve used it now on several household projects and appreciate that it’s simple to use, so I’ve taught family members how to safely test with it as well. For the price and abilities I think even the most basic home toolkit should have one. Mine is already headed to my work toolkit and I’ll buy another for the house. I like it that much. This one works as well as Klein and Fluke but won’t hurt as bad when it dies because once again I forget to swap batteries on the regular.

Handy little thing

So far so good. Changing out florescent tube lights to led t8 bulbs and this little guy ain't failed me yet.

Nice features at a good price

I particularly like the beeping sound it makes when in contact with current. I had a lot of trouble-shooting to do alone so I could poke this into a receptacle and then mess with the breakers and listen for the beeper to go off. It measures the relative strength of the current so when I ran into a low reading, I took out my digital unit and read the exact amount of voltage that was coming through. Other that, I did the whole rewiring job with this little critter.

Exactly What I Needed

The Neotech voltage tester didn't disappoint. It solved my problem. A light switch in a hall shorted out when I turned it on. I needed to replace it but there was no way to tell which circuit breaker to throw since it wasn't labelled on the panel and there was no outlet to use to see if a lamp wouldn't turn on. I was left with shutting the main and shutting all the power in the house. With the Neotech i could test to see if the power was still on to the switch after removing the switch plate. Found it on the second try and was able to replace the switch safely. It's easy to use and there is no mistaking whether the circuit is live.

Review

Product arrived in a timely manner and new. Easy to assembly and use. Have to say it was more sensitive than I thought it would be. I was able to detect voltages in outlets and light fixtures covered with insulation and plastics. Good product. I put it to use right away.

Accurate and sturdy

This is a great tool that accurately detects the presence of even low voltages. For example I had a ground wire that was slightly energized (around 12v) and this detected it. It detects voltage even through thick layers of insulation, drywall, and outlet/switch covers. Basically if it beeps there is some voltage, it is very accurate and I've yet to have a false negative or positive. The LED flashlight is a big help and is rather bright for its size. It doesn't use a lot of power: I've had the product for a little over a month and used it at least 2+ hours daily and have not needed to change the batteries.

A Great Voltage Tester

I bought this to test my Xmas tree lights. It was very helpful finding the defective bulb. I can see using this for many other troubleshooting needs. It is well made with convenient flashlight when poking into small, tight places.
