I have both this HooToo USB C shuttle _and_ a HyperDock. I figured a comparison would be helpful, but let me first say they're both great products each with pluses and minuses depending on your exact use case. HooToo Shuttle. Pro: 3 USB Type A ports. I'm shocked how often that I use all three, although as I convert to USB C that'll change Pro and Con: Flexible attachment. I feel much less likely to "break" things when the HooToo is attached as opposed to the HyperDrive is plugged in, but it's also unwieldily at time and gets pulled out accidentally more easily. Con: The big one is that pass through power is on 55W, not the full 86W of my power adapter. Con: no USB C ports HyperDock Pro: smaller Pro and Con: Rigid attachment. I feel it'd be really easy to drop/lever this thing have break things, but it doesn't pull out accidentally like the hootoo Pro: USB C port Pro: pass through full power (86W) Con: USB C port is just that, no displays can be connected to it, only hard drives and the like. I figure the side by side pictures are as helpful as anything I can say. In practice I usually carry the HooToo in my bag and I use the HyperDock at my desk... Maybe in another couple months I'll have a real favorite.

I purchased this as a gift for my son because his Macbook Pro was lacking USB 2.0- 3.0 slots. Works perfectly for him. Then I got to thinking - I was going to get a USB-C to HDMI cable for my Lenovo Yoga 910 to use with TV's. What if I use the adapter with an existing HDMI cable that I already have. Plugged it in to my laptop - hooked up the HDMI cable and bam - video from my Laptop to my TV - no issues. Next, I hooked the hub up to my Samsung S8+ - HDMI to the TV and videos from my S8+ were being viewed on the TV. Guessing I will be buying another one of these hubs in the near future.

I'm a tech and a digital media artist with technical training in product, packaging design, and an array of computer hardware. I feel I'm extremely well qualified to give a fair and educated review of a USB hub. Lately my development has mostly been with 3DR Solo. My 3DR Solo relies on the GoPro Hero5 for video input as the primary source for streaming video to pilot the drone, and additionally my Solo has two additional GoPro mounted giving a need for 3 ports after a flight. On top of the GoPro I have three hard drive that I have a consistent need for to store the videos from my GoPro and my Phantom 4 Pro. I've only got two USB 3.0 on my MacBook Pro so a USB hub is essential for use of data transfer from my GoPro cameras, hard drives, and additional usb reliant devices. The construction of the Hootoo hub has an extremely solid aluminum shell and it's well built! It looks like the aluminum bodied MacBook Pro was the inspiration for this hub. This hub is one of the few hubs in this price category that uses USB 3.0, which is twice as fast as USB 2.0 which many ugly hubs in this price category have. The USB 3.0, unlike the 2.0, allows the port to have a fast two way data/power transfer giving the ability for devices to charge. The port closest to the cable is the port you should charge in because it's the first to draw power and data transfer from the source and each port sequentially going from the first port out gets priority data transfer. The hub has the charging port marked which makes it more user friendly. This hub is cross compatible, meaning that it will work on both Mac and PC. Mac compatability is something that I have had problems with on USB hubs in the past. I want to also point out that it has USB port that is the closest to the cord that can be used for charging and probably a faster data transfer although I plan on testing that when I have a free moment. Generally, the port or outlet closest to the cable draws the most power and fastest data transfer. Each port/outlet going out from the cable gets sequentially less power and slower transfer speeds. So far I'm impressed with the transfer speeds so this hub. It has a 6 month warranty on it, and that is definitely a bonus. You can't beat this price either. It would most likely be triple the price at a store like Best Buy. There are other USB hubs on Amazon for the same price that are made out of cheap plastic. This hub is probably the best pick in it's class for your money if your looking for a well built 4 port USB hub. I'll edit I review in a month wind I've had more time using it to make my review more thorough. I hope that I helped potential buyers in making a decision on their purchase and maybe passed on some usefull pointers for readers. Let me know if you've got any questions which I'll be happy to answer. If my review was helpful please check yes in the box below below.

This works great with my macbook pro. I had originally purchased an adapter from another company. It's ports started flaking out within weeks. I've now had this over a month and have had zero issues.

Very high quality, I love this hub! I got a new Macbook pro that only has USB-C ports and needed a hub to complement it. This hub is the same color as the Macbook pro that I got, and charges it perfectly. I used a removable adhesive to stuck the to the underside of my deck so that it looks clean and is easy to use. This hub is much better than the other one made by HooToo because it can charge your MacBook pro meaning then you get home you only have to plug one port into your computer to get access to charging, hdmi, usb 3.0, and a SB reader. Everyone that has come into my office has noted how cool this hub is and loves the fact that you can just stick it to the under side of your desk (adhesive sold secretly haha). If you want to be able to take the jub with you just use Velcro and then you ca pull the hub off and take it with you. I am about to order another one of these for my desktop so that I have all of the port I need attached to the underside of my desk. Take a look at the pictures I have attached.

Update 3/7/2018: Oddly enough, the seller never got in touch with me like they said they would in the comment below. I never got around to returning the hub, but I swapped out my 2016 MBP 13" for a 2017 MBP 13" Escape. Fast forward ten months, and I'm happy with the HooToo hub. I don't know if it's the change in MBP model or a software/firmware update of some sort from Apple--but I rarely have any troubles with this hub. I use it all day, every day, and it works great for power, data and display. The only minor issue I've noticed is that I get some slowness and/or lag when I have more than one USB peripheral plugged into the hub and working at the same time. I changed my setup a little from what I described below. Power comes from an Anker USB power brick with three regular USB ports and a USB-C port. I'm connecting it to my MBP with a USB-C extension cord. I stuck the hub under the front edge of my desk with some velcro (so I can take it with me), and it's pretty much invisible while still allowing easy access to the USB ports and card slot. I always have a 1440p monitor plugged in via HDMI. I use the USB ports for my film scanner and an assortment of USB sticks and hard drives. Works great! Original Review - 5/18/2017: I bought this to use with my 2016 MacBook Pro 13" with touch bar and my 1440p monitor. I have it plugged into the Apple power adapter (it's delivering 55 watts) and an Apple wired keyboard. It works well until I try to plug it in or unplug it from my MBP. Sometimes, it's fine. Sometimes, both the monitor and the MBP freak out. Both screens go crazy with everything blinking, flickering and jumping around. The only way to resolve it is to unplug the MBP and reboot. I have not yet determined if there is a specific sequence of events that leads to the freak out. Obviously, this negates the convenience of using one cable for everything. If I don't figure out a fix or a workaround, I will be returning the HooToo hub.

I recently upgraded to a new laptop with one USB-C port. This is the second hub I purchased because I didn’t realize at first how much I would use a camera card slot. This one also has an HDMI port for connecting to a projector or TV. I have been using this hub regularly to connect the laptop to power while I do a back-up to an external drive through one of the USB ports. There are 3 USB ports for connecting external hard drives, flash drives etc. I am very impressed with both the look and feel of this device and also with the quality. The connections are snug but not too tight. I would recommend this highly to my friends.

This product works perfectly with my laptop. I bought two HooToo Hubs to connect my laptop with my dual monitors. If you register this product on their website, you'll get extended warranty which is great.

We are living in this era, that, for now, we need adapters for almost everything. In this case, you will need a dongle that can do most, and well, for a low price. That's why, after incessant searching, I decided buying HooToo. I'm doing this review so you won't have to search anymore. I watched about 20 videos on dongles on youtube. Comparisons, speed tests. Everything. It all comes down to 3, considering cost and benefits. HooToo, Hyperdrive and Satechi. Those are the ones you should be choosing between. I went with HooToo mainly for the price. It does everything the Satechi's 79 dollars one does. And it does well. It is very thin, so it fits in my Macbook Case, and it has a nice color. I bought the space grey to match my model, but it has all the MBP colors, so you will be satisfied for sure. I chose the one with the long cable because the one that sits flush with the computer does not work with a case on the computer, so keep that in mind. I would go with the cable one for the main reason that in the future you might opt on buying a protective case for the computer, and that will render the dongle unuseable. Overall, nice build, nice features, great product! Go ahead and buy it, for me, it was the best option of them all on Amazon.

I bought 2 other USB - C macbook hubs (Chargen and Lenovo) and they both sucked from the start and eventually failed. Both of them were expensive but crap quality. HooToo works the best and it's affordable!!! It charges, the usb actually works, for what I need it for, it works. So 5 stars for these guys for delivering a better quality product than the higher end people and at a much much affordable price.
