I just received the device so I am writing this review after just using it for about 3-4 hours. Therefore, I cannot comment on battery life. However, I may never be able to comment on battery life because I am so happy that I can use it while it is charging. So don't have to worry about battery life. My audio source is 25 ft away from my audio receiver, and the device held its connection over that distance. You do have to bring it within 3 ft of the bluetooth receiver to sync up, but after that is continued to hold the connection 25 ft away with a wall in between. I then tried the dual sync feature and it transmitted to both my sound bar and my earphones at the same time. The latency time is greatly reduced over previous devices. I could not believe that I could hear both the sound from the original source and that of my earphones and there was just a very slight delay. Listening to the two at the same time was just like a slight reverb as opposed to the older versions where the delay was such that it was more like an echo instead of a slight reverb. I am very excited because I now have a device that I can connect to the optical digital port on my computer and transmit the sound to various bluetooth devices in the house. I also tried the AUX port and it worked fine also. The sound quality was great. I have not tried the receiver part yet, because it was the transmit part that I really needed. However, having both in the same device is going to be so versatile. The sync time was not too long. Just be a little patient. Don't expect instantaneous syncing. Above all, just follow the directions, or you may be disappointed. I followed the directions and it worked the first time. And to dual sync worked as specified in the instructions. And to try to get the most out of your battery life, follow the directions and charge it for 2 hours before you first use it. So far, I am very pleased with the features and operation of this device. I will post an update if I get disappointed in the future. UPDATE: Well it has been a few weeks since I bought the device and I said I would update if I was disappointed. Well I am not disappointed, but I had to post a review about the receive side of this device. In receive mode, I once again can connect various devices such as earphones, mixers, sound bars, etc., both optical or AUX. Only one device at a time in receive mode. However, it synced up with my Bluetooth transmitting device quickly. I bluetoothed to my tablet, or my blu-ray player, or my Kindle Fire with no problem. The device could use a volume control. But, the sound was clear with very little latency. I really like this device. Still 5 stars.

I bought this to connect to my TV so I could listen through BT earphones and, when it arrived, I charged the unit and connected it using the supplied digital optical cable, set the switches to TX and SPDIF and paired it with my earbuds. Pairing was more difficult than I thought it would be but eventually my earbuds paired and I began to hear the sound from the TV. I sat about 10 feet from the transmitter so I knew I was within the specified distance for this device to work. Everything was fine for about 2 or 3 minutes and then the sound began to skip. That is, there were silent spaces in the TV sound with part of the dialog missing. After about 5or 6 minutes the sound completely broke up and I could not make sense of any of the sound from the TV. This sequence repeated itself - normal sound, missing pieces of the sound, completely broken up sound - while I listened and I eventually gave up. I also tried using the aux audio output thinking that perhaps the issue was the digital audio output from my TV but that connection was even worse. I had been using the earbuds for some time without any issue but, just to be sure, I connected them to the BT on my computer and played an internet movie without issue. I then connected it to my smartphone and again, without issue. listened to audio. I was really disappointed in this unit and wanted a replacement, making the assumption that perhaps it was the unit I received, but Amazon did not offer to send me a replacement and I was forced to choose between a refund or a gift card. I now must try to find some other unit that will work better than this one. UPDATE: As I mentioned in my review I had made the assumption that my problems, described above, were related to the specific unit I received rather than the product as a whole. I assumed this because the product had generally received very good reviews and my unit did not work well at all. Sunvalleytek customer service contacted me and offered to send a replacement unit and, when it arrived, the first thing I did was charge it and, after it had charged, connect it to my TV. As with the previous unit I used the optical connection and set the unit to transmit. I was able to pair my bluetooth headset to the unit, turned the TV mute control on and then sat down to watch. Unlike my previous experience this time the unit worked properly. I watched TV for about 20 minutes and the sound was rock solid, no skips, no misses, no breakup. I then set the cable box (I use Tivo) to play some of the recordings and they worked properly. I then connected to Netflix and watched some streaming video and it worked without an issue. As a last test I turned the DVD player on, inserted a disk and watched a bit of it and, as with the other tests this worked properly. I had no problems. One of the things I wanted to test was the time lag between words being spoken and the sound being received. I had already tried a unit from a different manufacturer and found that I had gotten about a quarter second delay between the visual indication of a sound and the recipe of the sound in my earbuds and I wanted to see if this unit was any different. While there may have been some delay it had to be very small because I generally could not see any difference between people's lips moving and the words being played in my earbuds. This unit must have faster hardware for whatever delay there might have been to not be noticeable. I then tried this with a second pair of bluetooth earbuds and found it to also work properly. One thing I liked about this unit is that, while it is small, it is not so small as to be unstable. The other unit I had received was so small and light that a slight movement of the cable meant that the unit itself might be knocked to the floor. This unit, while small and light, is more substantial than the competitor and I appreciated that. It also has a small rubber circle on the bottom which makes it less likely to be moved accidentally and prevents it from scratching the surface it sits on. The last thing I want to mention was the speed and helpfulness of Sunvalleytek's customer service people. They contacted me right away, they sent out a replacement the same day using 2 day delivery and it was delivered on a Sunday. I consider that to be extraordinarily good customer service and I wanted to mention how helpful they were. In general I was very pleased with the replacement and have changed my review rating accordingly. I understand that sometimes a bad unit can get through the manufacturing process, even with the best quality control, and this seemed to be such a case.

So I recently bought a set of really nice Bose bluetooth headphones. I figured it should be no problem finding a bluetooth soundbar to use with my TV. Um, I don't get it, but apparently NOBODY makes a soundbar with bluetooth that will connect to a headset--they will receive bluetooth from a phone, but apparently nothing transmits--I spent a day and a half researching, called Samsung, which assured me their soundbar would do what I wanted, only to discover--after I purchased and set it up and called AGAIN--that no, none of theirs will work that way. Apparently some TVs will do that, but I wasn't yet in the market to spend a couple grand for a new TV. I've used bluetooth receivers before bluetooth speakers were readily available and inexpensive, but never used/needed a transmitter. I finally found THIS lovely little item--which does BOTH (only one at a time, but I really only needed the transmitter). I also had to pick up a Toslink splitter, as well as a dual USB adapter (to plug in both devices--the splitter and the transmitter). It took me about 15 minutes to make all the necessary connections, and I held my breath as I tried (in vain the first couple of tries) to connect it to my headset. (I think I wasn't putting it into pairing mode correctly the first couple of times). And it WORKS--beautifully! There is a VERY slight latency (probably some on the transmitter end and some in the headphones, but it isn't enough to bother me--I only notice if I REALLY look closely. It's small and light, and I wound up taping it with electrical tape to the back of my TV (which is mounted on an extendible arm mount with no wires visible). I was afraid that might cause interference, but none that I could detect. It's so small that if I had to, I could set it on top of the frame or even put it on the wall, but this seems to be fine for now. Another nice feature--it comes with an ACTUAL instruction booklet--nicely produced and bound. It also comes with a USB cable, a set of RCA connectors and a standard audio cable, as well as a nice, flexible optical cable, so you should be able to use it with whatever configuration you need. And to top it all off, it comes packaged as nicely as an Apple device. You really get the sense that this company wants to impress. I'm hopeful that it will serve me well until I'm ready to replace the TV. But at the price, even if it dies after a year, it's a bargain. Very happy customer.

The problem with a lot of my electronics, mainly my televisions, is that they ALL don't have bluetooth built-in. My situation is simply this: when I want to workout but want to have the TV on in my home gym while my family's still sleeping, I either have the TV on mute or with a very low volume. I've always wanted the option to use wireless headphones, but the cheapest solution I can find is to use one of those 'home theater' headphones, which didn't justify the cost for my purposes..... So I found this neat Bluetooth transmitter device, where I can have my TV now able to transmit Bluetooth to my Bluetooth headphones! I was hesitant on the price, but there are some perks to this. Along with the device itself, it came with an AUX cord, digital optical cord and a classic RCA cord with the white and red inputs. I was also able to utilize my Bluetooth 4.0 headphones and still have connectivity going two stories up in my house (home gym setup where I'm using this transmitter is in the basement) to my second level upstairs. The power of the connectivity between Bluetooth devices appears to be strong enough as long as you're using it in a reasonable sized area. Anyways, the setup for my device was connecting the USB to my port on my TV to keep it charged at all times and then the AUX cord to the TV itself. I learned that there's a built-in battery and is charged using an included micro-USB cord. When Bluetooth isn't need, I simply just disconnect the AUX cord from the port on my TV. The instructions are straight forward when it comes to pairing with other Bluetooth devices. After a couple month's use of this thing, I'd say that this device works GREAT in converting my television (or any device with audio) to OUTPUT audio via Bluetooth, though I have to do a couple manual steps to set things up such as connecting the AUX cord to my TV, pairing the device to my headphones, etc. One thing I could not figure out though is using this with a digital optical port in conjunction with a soundbar that also utilizes a digital optical port.... But the option is there! Fortunately, I was able to just utilize AUX port on the TV, while the soundbar stays connected to my TV via digital optical. In the end, the purchase for me was definitely worth it. One major thing to note though... if all you're going to use this for is a Bluetooth RECEIVER, then this device is definitely NOT worth the price. It is a nice perk to have this as an option, but you can definitely purchase purely a Bluetooth RECEIVER for much, much cheaper for this specific purpose. Otherwise, if you're looking for a Bluetooth Transmitter, this is definitely a good option to go with!

When I want to watch tv at night when everyone else in the family has gone to sleep, I prefer to use bluetooth headphones.I have tried a few different bluetooth transmitters in the past but they have been hard to connect and seem to randomly drop the signal. I even had to shut the bluetooth off on my phone or the headphones would grab the phone instead of transmitter. This TaoTronics instantly connected and reconnected every time I turned the headphones on to watch cable tv. I was even able to leave my phones bluetooth on. My joy was quickly dashed when I tried the Amazon and Netflix app on my LG Smart tv. Neither app would send sound to my headphones. I contacted both TaoTronics and LG to help solve this problem. Although both customer service reps were friendly and tried to help, neither one could make this transmitter play sound for Apps . I decided to try some more settings on my tv and I accidentally found the answer to get sound from any source on my TV. In the Sound out settings, Digital Sound Out set at Auto equals no sound on Apps, set at PCM sound is crystal clear on everything. One other suggestion, plug your transmitter into a constant power source, not the tv so whenever you turn on your headphones it instantly connects. I have had everything set up for over two weeks and I haven't had to touch the transmitter since the first night. Other transmitters I have had I had to hit the on/connect button nightly.

I did not know about this device until I came across in a search. Connecting is simple but instructions need to be followed. I used this as a receiving device and connected a wired headphones. Need to make sure to connect the Bluetooth receiver first to your phone. Then when connected the wires headphones acts as a wireless set of headphones. This can easily be used to connect a nonbluetooth soundbar to connect as a receiver or transmitter and be able to play audio to a Bluetooth headset or play music though the sound bar from phone

Works great! Easy to install. Had device working less than 5 minutes. The TaoTronics device is small-fits in palm of my hand and the TaoTronics device paired easily with two different wireless Bluetooth headphones (Bose & Coulax). I bought the TaoTronics Bluetooth Transmitter and Receiver, Digital Optical TOSLINK and 3.5mm Wireless Audio Adapter for TV / Home Stereo System - aptX Low Latency. I connected the TaoTronics device using the Digital Optical TOSLINK cable included - connected the digital Optical cable to the digital optical port on back of older 2008 LG HDTV (42LG50 model) then connected other end of digital optical cable to the digital optical "SPDIF IN" port on TaoTronics device & connected the USB power cable included then I paired two different Bluetooth wireless headsets-works great! Tap the power button twice on TaoTronics to activate pairing mode then activate pairing mode on your Bluetooth wireless device this should pair up both devices-if not contact tech support listed with your device. After successful install-now I can mute TV volume or lower TV volume down to 0 and listen to TV through my Bluetooth wireless headphones without disturbing room mates and optional to increase volume to listen to both TV from TV speakers and/or listen through wireless headphones. This is the second TaoTronics Bluetooth device purchased: 1 new 2/2017 & 1 older 2015 and both work great! The TaoTronics aptX Low Latency feature works great and no voice delay - stays in sync with voices/lip sync while watching Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime Videos/Vudu. I have only tested TaoTronics device in transmitter mode (described above), I will post update if I test device in receiver mode. Received device quickly with Amazon Prime free two day shipping, the Parts listed were all received and packaging was nice and included instructions. My qualifications: I have 35 years experience as IT Pro & help desk/field support-installing/trouble shooting networks, computer & video equipment, including electronics background. Good luck!

I Love this Bluetooth device it paired easy to my headphones and I am able to watch my movies in my room on my 55 inch smart tv with out bothering the rest of the house so the can all relax in peace now thank you amazon for another amazing product

I have a new Samsung (UN50KU630DF) TV with only one audio out port, (digital optical TOSLINK). When I first connected the bluetooth transmitter to the toslink audio port, I was disappointed for not hearing any audio. I then decided to return product. BUT, before I followed through the return procedure, I did some research including the Q&A's of this particular product. I saw perhaps two questions/problems concerning the nature of my problem and learned that this device requires PCM audio format, NOT the default Dolby Digital as was the default setting on my TV. By changing the default audio format setting to PCM, this transmitter performs as expected. To verify/change the audio format on this particular Samsung, just go to settings | sound | expert settings | and scroll to audio format. It would be to the manufacturer's best interest to include this key information in their user manual, or at least include an addendum. This additional information would save customer frustration and unneeded returns. Just my opinion. Hope this info proves useful to potential buyers of this product. BTW, you may be wondering why I chose to add this product to my TV which has integrated bluetooth. I found that the headphones I was wearing would cut out from a short distance. This transmitter delivers a stronger signal which took care of my problem.

I have 2 TaoTronics Bluetooth products, I use it in my house, and it is amazing and very satisfying, easy to pair, it is possible for the future when i need bluetooth i will take TaoTronics Bluetooth again.
