I've held out giving a review regarding this security system because I wanted to see how it did over time. I love everything about this system. The batteries, depending on your settings, is long lasting. It is all wireless except for the router which works off WiFi and in plugged into the outlet. I have 3 cams and they are easy to set up. I have a major disability, am a senior citizen (61) and live alone with my little dog. My neighbors keep close watch on us but the Arlo Cams make it much more safe and convenient for me as I can see who comes down my drive and to my door. The Netgear Arlo app is free and trustworthy. The only problem I have found there seems to be a 3 second delay with the video but to me that is minor compared to all the other features of this system. A member of my family from out of state has access to the cams and know my habits. They look in on me often and we have actually communicated off and on with the built in cam audio and mic. I feel safer knowing they can look in on me now and then. While I was out of State during Hurricane Irma, I could look in through my app and watch the storm and see if any damage was made. This was great until, understandably, when the power was lost. My neighbors kept good care of my house, how do I know? Because I could see them when they checked on the place daily through the eyes and ears of my cameras! THANK YOU Netgear for this GREAT reliable Arlo security system, For me it is a Godsend.

I'm very happy with this purchase. The setup was very simple. The video quality is very good. I also purchased the Alro outdoor security mounts because they are more secure. They screw into the unit, whereas the mounts that come with it are magnetic. Also the battery life is amazing! I've had my camera's for nearly a month now and they have both made 100's of recordings and they still have tons of battery life left. I expect these batteries will last 2-3 months before they need recharging (charger included) If there are videos you want to save you can download them right to your phone from the app. It also has live video, and microphone and speaker, so you can speak through the camera as well as listen live. The way is unit works is, you set up an account online and download the app, plug the base unit into your internet router and turn on the cameras. When the camera picks up motion it will record for 10 seconds. You will then get a notification on your phone and/or email depending on the settings you choose on the Arlo app or website. If you are putting these in high traffic areas expect to get a lot of notifications. I set mine up to only get notifications on my phone because it was filling up my email. For how inexpensive home security camera systems have gotten, everybody should have them.

I absolutely love my Arlo Pro! My only regret is that I didn't get a second camera with it. I plan on buying an add-on camera as soon as I am able! It's worth every penny for the peace of mind and fantastic, fast service of the Arlo system! I witnessed a lot of people accusing others of leaving false/fake feedback while leaving a negative review for the Arlo but I'm glad I threw caution to the wind and bought it anyway (based on the majority of positive feedback). Admittedly, I received my Arlo Pro just today and set it up myself; but the worst part of about the whole process - thus far - is that I had no ladder to use to mount it above my garage, so I used a bar stool. That was clearly my fault for lack of tools needed. I tested the delay several times throughout the course of the day and there was never more than a .5 - 1 second delay in motion detection. I think my only concern is the temperature at which it functions (up to 113 degrees) may be a problem here in San Joaquin Valley with this week's temps reaching upwards of 115. The video quality can be set to optimized, which will help with battery life yet it still maintains a decent picture/video. I can't speak to how long battery life lasts as mine has only been set up for a few hours and still says 100%. With all of that being said, I will update my review if I run into any problems. Happy shopping!

Having tried several different types of cameras over the years, the Arlo Pro system has just about everything you need for a security camera, especially when you factor in the free 7 days of cloud storage as well as the ability to record to a local USB thumb drive. I say just about because the one issue as many have pointed out is in high traffic areas, the battery will run down pretty quickly... though I have not personally tested this. To circumvent this, specifically as an outdoors camera, I feel that every Arlo Pro camera should make use of an external power source to keep the battery always charged. I opted for the somewhat expensive but hopefully reliable solar panels that run about $70 each. If mounted along side the camera (and at a distance high enough up or hard enough to get to to avoid someone unplugging it and/or taking them), assuming you get a bit of sun from time to time, the camera should not require a hard wired power source. I can not however back up that claim in areas that rain a lot or have a lot of cloud cover.. as I have read that that will result in the solar chargers barely putting out much juice. That said, lets hope most owners have a little bit of sunlight at least once every few weeks so that the charger can replenish the battery on the camera enough to keep it going continuously. The other thing, which many reviews have indicated is the magnetic mount that the camera comes with leaves a bit of doubt as to someone pulling the camera off of it and taking it. If the camera is mounted high enough, it will be less of a problem, but even so, as strong as the magnet is, I still have my doubts if it will withstand strong windy gusts.. or someone trying to hit it with a ball to knock it down. Therefore, the screw in mount seems like the option that should come with every camera, and given they are an additional $15 or so, and the price of these cameras, I would suggest buying them (and possibly the Arlo cameras coming with them in the future). The quality of video is fantastic, even with a 2 to 3 second lag. The Wifi range is pretty good from what I can tell. I havent had it long enough to determine if there are a lot of false triggers, but Arlo just announced a new AI that will supposedly figure out humans, animals and vehicles that should reduce that... though I am hoping it is not an extra cost to take advantage of that on a monthly basis... hoping its a firmware/software update that doesnt cost anything.

Fantastic product. Worked straight out of the box. Monitors everywhere I need it to and feeds the video to my phone or tablet. It takes a little while to figure out the sensitivity settings for each camera and also which one's to have alert you (otherwise you will get "pinged" every 30 seconds!). Once you've figured out the settings over the first few days of use, it's a great system. The video quality is awesome. Provided you're willing to go and delete videos off the dashboard each week, there's no need to purchase the extra storage space from Netgear (I wish someone had warned ME of that!). The standard storage provided is more than adequate for most homes. If there's a video you want to keep - you can download it. Other than that - it's a great product. One other (creepy?) "benefit" is that if you have a camera indoors - you can watch what the family do in the house while you're out! Be sure to buy the recharging station that recharges 2 batteries at a time (link below). Arlo Pro Charging Station - Designed for Arlo Pro Wire-Free Cameras (VMA4400C) The batteries on my set up last about 8 weeks between charges. I've actually got them "staggered" so that I change 1 camera battery a week and then get a month off before the next cycle starts. I have read other reviews that state that the batteries don't last long enough. I can only presume that they must have their cameras in high traffic areas or they've got the sensitivity set too high - it's critical in reducing the number of false-positive camera activation's and/or battery depletion.. Arlo Pro Security System with Siren - 5 Rechargeable Wire-Free HD Cameras with Audio, Night Vision, White (VMS4530-100NAS) Update: 3 months on.... still working perfectly. I had to reduce the sensitivity on a couple of the cameras to stop "false/positive" recordings taking place when wind moved a bush in the picture. Apart from that, the original batteries are still 40% charged on 3 of the 5 cameras (the other 2 cameras were the one's which I adjusted the sensitivity on - because they kept recording). It alerts me every time that a delivery is made to the front door, and even alerted me when someone was snooping down the side of the house - so I called the sheriff. The perp had gone by the time they arrived, but I was able to download and show them a picture. He's a known local who burgles for money for his fix - so they went and had a "chat" with him. Already saved me money and proved invaluable.

Arlo pro batteries seem to last a lot longer time do you original arlo

Update: we've been using it for a while now and I'm actually amazed by this system. The battery life is excellent, the audio superb, the video capture and night vision is great. I'm considering it at another house and getting more cameras I've set up three of four different camera systems in the past, each was an exercise in frustration. The setup here was about as easy as it gets to setup the camera that came with the base station and an add on caerppmera purchased separately. It was functioning in 30 minutes on all my devices. Amazing. The camera quality is wide angled and and quite good both day and night. The motion detection is very effective indoor or out ,and the audio picks up more than I'd anticipated. Very pleased so far.

I had previously purchased a three-Arlo camera kit including the Pro base station. I decided that I needed at least one more camera, so I purchased a single Arlo Pro camera with a Pro base station, removed the older base station, and connected my three original Arlo cameras to the new base station, along with the Pro Camera. I then stuck a 128 GB flash drive into the new base station after syncing the cameras and firing up the system. My first observations are that the new camera, with its rechargeable battery is going to last a long time between recharges; not to mention that the siren, the audio features, and the video quality are pretty amazing. But what really surprised me was that the batteries in my older Arlo cameras seem to be having a greatly extended battery life relative to previously. I can only assume that the Pro base station connectivity is far more efficient regarding battery life. Additionally, the whole system seems to be much faster at picking up movement and recording it. I would highly recommend the Arlo Pro to anyone desiring a wireless security system and encourage anyone with an old system to upgrade ASAP.

The up-side of ARLO is that you get the phone app to watch anywhere with little trouble. You can also store it for free with 5 cameras or less. Getting near-real time video and clips helps! Lastly these are for the un-committed who don't want to drill holes in their walls. I have mine plugged into the outside outlet and the constantly give me "fault warnings" using their hardware. I find myself recharging, rebooting, and servicing these way more than I'd like. Leaving the high-maintenance battery version wasn't that much of a change. If someone attacks your home, they should do it when it's raining and the motion has no idea what to monitor with all the raindrops. They could come at you on a windy day when there is so much "motion" outside that false alarms are common. Getting tech support is somewhat creepy when a third party logs in and looks at all your video real-time at the flick of a button on their side. The last turd in the punch bowl here is the now pop-up ads they slam at you when going to review your video. If a murder is outside your house, you'll be batting down ads trying to get status.
