Helps tremendously with Costochondritis and tension between shoulder blades
I have severe Costochondritis, to the point that I've made multiple ER trips thinking I was having a heart attack. I bring it up every time I go to the doctor and the response has aways been "take ibuprofen, do some stretches" which has never worked. For years, I've been throwing my elbows back (like the chicken dance) many times a day to try and get a "pop" in my upper/mid spine, because that's where I feel constant tension. This does that, but immensely better (think 10 pops instead of one). The price tag is almost the same amount I spent on a big stainless steel inversion table (for a low-back slipped disc), and it's completely worth it. I feel like I can take a full, deep breath again for the first time in years. This is the first review I've ever done after a decade (and untold thousands of dollars) of using Amazon, which should tell you how amazing i think this Backpod is. If you have costo that is only getting worse with time, I would recommend trying this. Big thanks to Bodystance. I was in a very desperate place with my costo pains and this little green pod has given me hope.

Finally a way to fight Costochondritis!!!
I got costochondritis after I had terrible common cold and nasty cough, for almost a year I was in pain day and night, unable to work, unable to just have a normal life, started having depression and anxiety attacks, visited four doctors and they all said the same, "Rest, take ibuprofen, take this pills for depression and anxiety, the costo will go away on its own". It was a lie! The costochondritis was not going anywhere, so I decided to look for answers myself, then I saw a video of a person talking about how the backpod had helped him and how he was almost pain free, immediately searched for more information about the backpod and watched Steve August videos, I was not very confident and the bacpod was not cheap but I was beyond desperate and willing to try anything. Started using it with three pillows and my symptoms actually got a little worst the very first day but I was determined to keep going. Week one went by and I saw a tiny bit of improvement. Week two, two pillows and I was almost pain free for 2 whole days! Week three, one pillow and 3 days with no pain! After about a month I used it with no pillows and my symptoms were almost gone. Now there's little to no pain and my life is starting to be normal again, still use it every day for a few minutes and do doorway chest stretches. Give the backpod a chance, it might help you leave the living hell called costochondritis behind and don't forget that you're not alone :-)

Worth it IMHO!
I hardly ever feel compelled to write a review (although, selfishly, I wouldn't be able to buy anything or eat anywhere without them!) but I do feel the need to share my support for this product. This was my second bout of costochondritis -- my first happened sometime two years ago, when my doctor diagnosed costochondritis after I had this nagging, lingering chest pain after a bad respiratory infection. I don't remember being told to do anything for it except take ibuprofen and wait it out for 6-8 weeks. I wasn't terribly active back then, the pain wasn't necessarily holding me back from any activity, and so I did as I was told, which was basically nothing. And eventually, it did go away. (Lucky, I know.) Since then I've become an avid surfer, surfing just about every day. I really consider it instrumental for my mental and emotional health. And so when this episode of costochondritis descended upon me, it hurt like hell to paddle or pop up, no matter how many Motrins I took before and after. That's when I began to do my research, and came to the conclusion that if I didn't give myself a chance to heal (by taking a break from surfing) then this costo could linger on for months or years. I forced myself to take a break, and let me tell you, between the chest pain and not surfing, was a painfully depressing period. I swear I needed to go back to therapy, take antidepressants again, something -- and it had only been a week!! One night, I watched a whole bunch of costo videos on youtube, trying to figure out how the heck I can exercise without aggravating my chest, and I came across a few helpful ones. One video detailed a good door jamb stretch for costo sufferers (with arms raised above head level); a few others led me to purchase this Backpod and a jar of Penetrex. So starting the very next day, I did that door jamb stretch several times a day, basically every time I could remember. And when the Backpod arrived, I would use it once in the morning and once in the evening. It was uncomfortable -- NOT painful, nor should it be -- but at the same time, relaxing? Somehow it just felt very therapeutic to lie on this oblong plastic contraption. I rubbed on the Penetrex 3-4x a day, as per directions, on my chest and along the spine of the affected side. Within as little three days, I felt a very significant improvement in my costo pain, so much that by the fifth day I dared to get back in the water (taking it easy of course). It's been a little over a week since I've owned this and I would say I'm 95% back to normal. I think the combination of rest (ugh), the stretches and the Backpod -- and maybe the Penetrex? -- truly worked for me, and I was able to avoid a much lengthier period of suffering. This will be my go-to prescription should I be so unfortunate to have it reoccur. I really sympathize with those that have been suffering with costochondritis for any significant amount of time. For something that isn't life-threatening, it can really be downright life-depleting. If you're on this sinking ship, and deliberating if you should purchase the Backpod, please just do it! With that and a little extra TLC you might just find the relief you're looking for.

Its worth it.
I was diagnosed with costochondritis about 8 months ago, I tried changing my bed, getting a standing desk, different yoga poses, nothing worked. My doctor even said there was no cure, and I had to take Advil or Aleve every day for the pain (no way). I found the YouTube videos from this company and they recommended the backpod. I have had it a week and I feel the best I have felt in almost a year. Watch the videos, they have some good exercises and get the back pod if you have pain. It's worth it.

Finally, some back pain relief!
This item seems like a hollowed-out football cut in half, but the plastic honeycomb frame inside maintains its shape and supports your weight. It appears to be a well-made product. I have mild disk degeneration in my thoracic spine (which is basically arthritis). This causes my back to be stiff all the time and causes it to barely move in places. I've been receiving chiropractic care every other week for four years now. The reason I tell you this is because I've tried many things to try and get my back to feel better, even temporarily, such as yoga, a back-ball, a foam roll, and the aforementioned chiropractic care. After laying on this Backpod for ten minutes, I felt cured for the first time in years. It was just a temporary feeling because as I write this the back pain has come back, but the temporary relief was worth the purchase. I am also hopeful with continued use the pain will go away for increasingly longer periods.

After I'm done using it I feel like a new person
I've had costochondritis for a year and a half and counting (got it from improper weight lifting form over the course of 10+ years) I've tried everything to relieve the pain, absolute nightmare injury. I swear by this thing!! I never leave the house without it. I probably use it 3-5 times a day. I first use it as instructed, lay down over it and work my way down my back. But there is a secret use for it, as a mini-chiropractor! It takes a certain technique but with a little maneuvering you can pop the unpoppable parts of your back and chest that no amount of elaborate stretching ever could. After I'm done using it I feel like a new person. I show all my friends and family and they love it. I never write reviews for anything but I had to for this. Typing this out is making me want to use it right now :) If you are in pain and are looking for relief, please do yourself a favor and buy the backpod!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
It blows my mind how after years of back pain, my Dr. or physical therapist never told me about this. I had to look for help on my own, watching YouTube videos. This product literally saved my career & lifestyle. Thank you! - Brian

hunched no more
This is my first time writing a product review and I'm doing so because I believe that the backpod has given me more relief in less time than all the adjustments and massages that I've tried at greater expense and effort. Literally 10 minutes a day - I like to do this right before bed - and I wake up without the tension in my shoulder blades and middle back that is otherwise terrible. It's extremely simple to use and you just need a couple of pillows and an area to lay down on the floor to treat yourself. I definitely recommend this!

Really surprised!
When I looked this thing up, I saw the picture and thought, “that looks like a nerf football cut in half!”. I have suffered with costochondritis for over 10 years that at first resulted in several trips to ER thinking that I was having a heart attack. This condition makes me get bad anxiety and I would not wish it on anyone. I also have upper neck and back issues that contribute as well. I read the reviews, and after reading the ones about helping with Costo I thought what is another $90 or so amongst the thousands already spent? I purchased it and when I received it found that it was actually well built. I used it as the instructions said, and immediately noticed a small change, but nothing dramatic. I am glad that I read the reviews that said to stay with it because if I had not I might have gotten discouraged and quit using it. After about a week my back and neck started to loosen up, and the tightness and dull pain from the costo started to subside. It actually worked! I am now using it every couple of days when I start to feel things starting to tighten up again. All I can say is: this is a great product (though simple) that has been life changing for me. I have not been paid or given anything for this review. I am giving this review because this device has helped me.
