It's a FATE game. It's fun to play. Enjoyable story. Loved the extras with Noble Phantasm edition. Nero all the way. Enough said.

A very enjoyable game! Though it has fewer stages than Musou games I've played in the past, I'm still getting plenty of entertainment value out of it! That said, I'm an avid Fate/ fan so I can't say how people who are unfamiliar with the franchise will feel about it. The translation is great as well! They made sure to use terms that are commonly used in the English fandom, which is a huge plus for fans like me. If you aren't already familiar with the Fate/ franchise it may not be quite as accessible, as quite a few plot points build off of prior entries in the Fate/Extra series, including a few references to Fate/Extra CCC which was never translated into English. That said, the Fate/Extra Last Encore anime should be coming out later this year which may help newcomers.

TL;DR: A bit slow to start and may seem a bit of a drag during the second route as it's the same narrative but from the other side's PoV, the story really picks up in the second half game. You will fight the camera a lot and need to refer to the map in the corner of your screen to see where you're going and find the portals to the other rooms in the area as actually following the arrows can be confusing in some stages. TIP: If you don't like the side objectives that boost the bonds of the other servants (the only way to do so for them as well), exit out of the menu and back to My Room, then reselect the chapter and view them again. It'll change every time. Despite fighting the camera more often than not (seems to be a trend with Warriors-style games anyway), I'd still give the game 5 stars for story and characters. If you can get past the (lack of) camera control -- more on that below -- and the repetitiveness as you play through three routes (i.e. perspectives) of the same story essentially then it's great. You have to be more invested in the characters, the story too but especially the characters I'd say, to get into it. Otherwise the Warriors-style gameplay and trying to breeze through the story part will burn you out quickly. If you don't get the outcome you want from a bond moment in My Room you can save scum and retry. The story does make references to Fate/Extra, but you don't have to have played it for it to make sense since it just talks about who won the war in that game. And you do have some camera control with the R stick, but it's so free moving that it's a hassle to use. Also, no real lock-on system so even though you can press R on major enemies (e.g. boss servants) you can't really lock on and stay locked onto them -- you need to keep adjusting the camera. L will become your best friend for readjusting the camera back to being in front of you and R for dashing to move between sectors faster (every second counts) when not using it to try and get a feeble lock on to a boss servant. You'll adjust to this, but it will always be a hassle to deal with. Allies are weak and won't last too long, especially in rooms jam packed with enemies, even weak ones. Getting to them is also a nuisance and you're better off trying to leave them alone and hope for the best if you aren't nearby or if your objective isn't nearby and timed (and you don't see a timer, but after a while your progress will be undone in some chapters if you take too long to complete an objective). If they all die you get a Mission Failed. Leveling them up in their Side Stories won't help them out in the main stories, but they are fun to go through anyway. They're also much shorter at three chapters long per character, but still have interesting stories overall.

First and foremost, Amazon, stop sending collectors edition items in envelopes. This one came in just fine, but was concerned when i saw the yellow envelope in front of my door. This review is mostly for what you get in this collectors edition, and not so much on the game itself. First off, the box itself is beautifully done. It's really sturdy and screams quality. Marvelous has done an excellent job designing it. As soon as you open it you are introduced to the cloth poster, which is pretty neat, just not sure where to put it ( i got way too many already lol) Not sure the demensions but it's decent size. Below is the deck of cards. I love the quality of them! They're a plastic material that are somewhat see through. You get one for each servant in the game. Then of course your standard game case, nothing special there. Behind it all is the hardcover art book, that is surprisingly packed with art and content of the game. Once again it just adds to the care that went into making this collectors edition. Perhaps the best Vita collectors i own. The game, the little i played, love so far. I enjoy mosou games so for me it was awesome to play as Fate servants since I'm a fan of the series in general. Overall, extremely happy with its contents and a big kudos to Marvelous for knocking it out of the park!

A pretty great game with a great collector's edition. I LOVE the cloth poster, art book, and tarot cards in this set. Plus, the box itself looks and feels very nice.

Loving it, I played it on the ps4 and honestly the dlc costumes are a plus. Wasnt going to spend money on microtransactions so buying it complete is the way to go. Also plus points for being portable and it doesn't lag at all.

It's definitely an interesting game. It's not meant for everyone. This game is what my friends and I call a "hack n slash". To put very basically, almost to the point of insult, you button-mash to your objectives and the story progresses. Before I get angry comments; allow me to say I had, and am still having, a really fun time playing. They've made it so that the button combos will make the desired attack as long as you input the correct buttons. The different characters have noticeable stat differences. As you level up your character, new move combinations, upgrades and even costumes become available. Lastly, the greatest part, in my opinion, is as you play the game, the more there is to do. Overall, if you enjoy these "hack n slash" games and you have a moderate understanding of Japanese games and/or the anime, you will have a very good chance of enjoying this game.

Fate/Extella is a stand-alone extension to Type Moon's Fate series, with 16 playable characters. The story describes an apocalyptic cataclysm that the resurrected personifications of many famous historical heroes (Alexander the Great, Joan of Arc, King Arthur, etc.) must fight to prevent - or ensure. Gameplay is hack-n-slash with RPG elements. Visually and musically, the game is a beauty. Replay value is fantastic, with multiple difficulties and optional side-missions. Compeltion time is 25+ hours.

An absolute steal for the price. Game aside, the merch alone was worth the money for me. If you are wondering about the game itself though I highly recommend you don't buy it unless you're interested in covering every bit of Fate lore you can get your hands on, or alternatively, you've played the previous Extra titles (namely Extra and Extra CCC) and you want to see the story through. Not even being a fan of Fate helped me enjoy the story to be completely fair. But the gameplay itself is perfectly enjoyable if you enjoy brawlers like Senran Kagura. Overall I am absolutely happy about this special edition.

This game had a really enjoyable story with several routes with the perspective of each heroine. The story is fairly confusing if you have no prior knowledge as it is basically a sequel to Fate/Extra if you have played that before you should be familiar with many of the characters and the setting. The story is fast paced and repetitive but not at all difficult. I didn't expect the feels, but it was quite an emotional story even with all the comic relief and "bonding". I recommend this especially if you enjoy having 3 cute heroines obsessing over you.
