bought this to EQ the mains in my church. it's great. does the job, it's been working well since i bought it 3 months ago...we shall see if it lasts. that's the only "thing" with this kind of product: will it last for the next 10 years? Anyway, the price was right, the features were right, love it. done.

A good deal on a dual EQ. I like that it has a crossover for a sub in the back. They are cheap feeling tabs for each frequency band, and they weren't entirely pressed on when it arrived, but overall I still feel like I will get a ton of use out this unit for years.

I was looking for an equalizer that I could use to tune my studio monitors so when mixing recordings my monitors would give me an accurate representation of what I was mixing. Along with use of a realtime frequency analizer and a pink noise generator I can tune any speaker in just a few minutes.

I needed 31 band stereo EQ for my home studio. This is excellent and well worth the price. Please note that it is designed for pro audio specs and uses 1/4 TRS connectors. Home theater folks shouldn't be put off though, in MOST cases it will work fine using RCA to 1/4" adapters. Read on if you are a musician or studio type person. I ordered TRS patch cables long enough for my setup, but in the meantime just wired it up with plain old 1/4" guitar type cords. It is utterly silent. Unity gain (setting INPUT to 0) is spot on and metering INPUT or OUTPUT is helpful. Obviously bypass is essential for A-B comparison and the meters are truthful. e.g. If I set the EQ unit's INPUT to 0dB (no yellow clip lights on EQ) , then my Zoom R24 will show healthy input level but will NOT clip the definitive red clip light on the R24. The sliders are silent and the range can switch from 6 dB to 12 dB, although I just leave mine on 12 dB. As I understand it, the unit's LOW CUT should be turned hard left and the HIGH cut should be turned hard right to remove those filters from the audio chain. I did not mess with the subwoofer output as I listen through full range studio monitors but if a sub is needed the low cut filter on front as well as the crossover (XOVER) knob on the back of the EQ should make setup very easy. I only wish it would it would combine/convert stereo input to MONO and control both with one set of EQ sliders but a workaround is easy and the lack of this feature is not a deal breaker. Happy Trails!

It works very well in boosting the high-frequency phonemes of dialog in movies (i.e., consonants) and thus improving intelligibility. But it is necessary to use XLR plugs to input the audio signal. Otherwise, any AC powered device, such as a DVD player, will create a 60 hz hum, or buzz.

Le doy 5 estrellas me gusta como corta los agudos y bajos vueno tiene opciones para subb pero no lo uso... para mi sonido Está muy vien me sirve mucho para equalizAR se los recomiendo a todos los sonideros

IMHO EVERY sound system can use an equalizer! In my earlier listening days, I had 10 band equalizers, and now to have a 31 band (every 1/3rd of of an octave) is about the best that could happen. There's very little "drift" - meaning each control does what it's supposed to and no more! A tight uint with the necessary controls to keep everything in line. It appears to me the unit was constructed for RECORDING purposes and I'm using it for LISTENING purposes - this due to the connector jacks - however, a couple of "6.35mm Mono Male to RCA Female adapters" (I bought a ten pack) and you're ready to insert into an RCA connected sound system. I have this unit underneath a reverb/sound effects unit (rack width with face place for rack mounting) and it fills out the functionality of my system (I actually have two systems - but the other system uses a ten band equalizer that will eventually need to be replaced as the Rockville REQ231 unit with 31 bands is so superior)! A great purchase - as I said, I will eventually purchase another for a second sound system!

I use this as an EQ in the stereo FX send/receive path of my rack-mounted Line-6 DSP. With the 31 bands for each channel, setting the desired signal contour was easy. Cons: The on/off switch for the LED power meter doesn't work. The lights are on all the time, which can be annoying on a dark stage. It would also be nice to have a lexan cover for the front to avoid accidentally bumping one of the sliders.

This is a great product at a reasonable price. The 31 bands on the equalizers allowed for a better sound quality. My speakers definitely sounded like it was newer when using the Rockville REQ231 dual 31 band 1/3 octave graphic equalizer with sub-output. Speaking of the sub output, that addition was a very pleasant bonus to have since not that many other brands include it. Perhaps something to improve on is indicating where the bypass switch are and what a crossover filter switch does to those keen with professional equalizers. Otherwise great job, Rockville.

I purchased the Rockville REQ231 dual 31 band 1/3 octave graphic equalizer with sub-output primarily as a diagnostic and product development tool for custom crossover design, DSP (digital signal processing) and tuning custom speaker cabinets for my speaker builds. The low distortion is one of the attractive features of the equalizer and a “must” for the audio analysis I perform. The sub output is a very nice touch, one that most manufacturers omit entirely. This added capability enables me to control and adjust the low end output when performing crossover or DSP adjustments to balance speaker output to achieve a flat frequency response across the listening spectrum. When performing final testing and optimization of my custom speakers the REQ231 eliminates a lot of guesswork normally associated with product development and final tuning adjustments. Rock on Rockville!
