I bought it for my 7-yr old and I ended up loving it as much as she did. It is easy to assemble and its now going to be used as her night light. The detail is amazing and the constellations look brilliant when it is plugged in and switched on. Slight minus was the rubber base, which is almost impossible to remove once to attach it to the silver rim. I needed to remove it to tighten a nut that secures the globe to the stand. The rubber base tore when removed and I just threw it away; the globe is standing just fine without it. Bottom line is - the globe is stunning.You can't go wrong with it. I love it!

Not as sturdy as I expected. The black base is hard to get off once you put it on. The tabs broke off on the base, which is plastic. I wanted to tighten up the screw and when I did , the tabs broke off. The best customer service ever! They contacted me right away and sent me a new base! I am so happy to do business with this company.

Great globe for any age!!

Very happy with my purchase. This globe is a nice size, I was worried it would be too small, but it's not. Most of the names can be seen clearly without magnification. I bought for my nine year old daughter and she was so excited to look at the different places and their names. She loved the light and constellations best though. It does make a great night light for her as well. Would recommend to anyone, even adults.

Purchased this as a present for my best friend’s son because he is afraid of the dark. Was looking for a nightlight that didn’t seem too baby-ish as well as a globe. Was surprised to be able to find this as a two-in-one. The lighted mode is perfect because it doesn’t put out too much light, but is still bright enough to read and see each individual star. The power cord is a great touch because it means that you won’t have to use batteries, reducing your carbon footprint. Even better, this is a gift that will grow with their son and will be something that he will love for years to come. Just having it around will help him to naturally learn about the constellations, countries, and hopefully encourage him to become a little traveler.

Perfect "baby shower" gift that will be used for years to come!

One of my former graduate students and her husband are having their first child, and I asked if there is something special they would like to have for the baby that I could purchase. She mentioned that she would like to have a globe that could be used as a nightlight and would be something her child will enjoy as she grows. She provided a link to a "cheaper" one that ran on batteries. Because it was battery-powered and had several poor reviews, I searched for another option and found this one -- not only a globe, but the night sky, too! When it arrived, I unpacked it to make sure everything works, and it's wonderful! The mom-to-be and I both value the power of international travel and experiential learning. I love it that she asked not for a "baby item" that her child will eventually outgrow, but something she can use now to illuminate the baby's room, and then have for years to come to build her child's curiosity about the wonderful world we live in and all the places and people there are to learn about (not to mention the night sky!). The baby shower is two weeks away, and I cannot wait to give her this gift! I am pairing it with a baby book I found about babies the world over. Perfect!

Great Educational Gift!

Bought the globe as a gift for my niece. While most people don’t like giving educational gifts because they seem boring, I enjoy giving educational gifts because I believe in investing in children’s futures. I have to say that this gift was probably one of the biggest hits I’ve ever had. At first, she didn’t seem too thrilled to be getting a globe, but once she started looking at it and playing with it, she’s attached to it. She’s already has multiple questions about certain places (pronunciation being one, but she is also strangely attracted to New Zealand and Hawaii). For inquisitive children, this is the perfect gift. It is something that will keep on giving and may even instill in them the desire to travel and see the rest of the world. Was impressed with the packaging and delivery of the gift as well.

My grandson (almost 4) was doing a unit on planets in daycare and I was remembering teaching my students about the solar system. I thought a globe might be a good gift and this one is perfect. When I got it out of the box, he immediately found Florida. He needed help finding Maine (where he lives). The globe is sturdy, made with metal, and can withstand a curious 4 year old's attention. The light is a bonus. So many of the lighted globes try to double as space globes at night, but that seemed like a confusing concept for me so I chose this one and I'm glad I did. It is bright enough to show its elements but not too bright to serve as a nightlight.

This globe was the perfect option for a few reasons. The first is that most major cities are clearly indicated on the globe. They are able to identify the different cities as well as those nearby, which helps them with spatial awareness. We have even started talking about traveling and they make their own little itineraries. Everything is true to size and extremely accurate, from the borders of countries to the sizes of the ocean. Knowing that they are seeing the world on a complete basis is great. The nightlight option with the stars is something we hope to use in the near future. Finally, I love that the base is so sturdy. It seems like something so simple, but with three kids grabbing at it to see something, it is essential to have something that stays put.

Globe a hit with my six year old niece

I bought this globe for my six-year-old niece, who had been asking for one. She thought it was very cool that it lit up, and she has kept it lit in her bedroom. The globe is smaller than I expected, but honestly, at 6 she can't read the country names anyway (a bit hard to read the small type). It does serve a purpose of showing the world and at her age, would be perfect. It would be a good purchase, in my opinion, for anyone over the age of 6. Once you are at an age where you really want to STUDY the globe, a larger one would be more helpful, in my opinion. For now and a few more years, it will do the trick well.

The customer service of this team has been absolutely amazing. They were able to answer a few questions I had about the product before I even purchased it, which is important to me. Their answers were fast, thorough, and accurate. It has been difficult to find a quality ACCURATE globe in today’s world. I wanted something that would capture a child’s attention but still teach them something, which is why I decided to purchase a 2-in-1 globe. I also like the added second dimension of the constellation light. I think all kids love constellations and the stories behind them, and I look forward to teaching the kids more about the night sky even on nights we cannot see the stars in our city! I also really loved the size of this one. Coming in at about the size of a basketball, it is super easy to handle for me and for the kids, is big enough to show detail, but isn’t so oversized that it feels out of place. Extremely happy with this purchase.
