Works Like A Charm

I have bought, over the years, several jar opener gadgets, but most of them were a total waste of money - because they really didn't work - or did work only after much concerted effort, but were certainly not easy and quick. This one is. In fact, it's about as easy and quick a jar opener as you could ever wish to find. It's a slap in the face to one's masculine pride to be defeated by a jar you simply cannot open, just by conjuring up all your strength, and getting all red in the face, and raising your blood pressure to dangerous levels, just to try to get the lid off of a new jar of pickles! Of course, you can revert to the strap wrench - which will always get any jar open - but that is an admission of defeat, and the primary reason that we bring ourselves to the brink of blowing our top in an effort to open a stinkin' jar! The ease and simplicity of this little gizmo is such that all we have to do is turn it clockwise, to open the jaws to the widest point, and then turn it back counter-clockwise, until the grips engage the lid, and then keep turning to the left until the seal pops - which is instantly - and voila' - we have succeeded! Tonight, I had occasion to actually use it, just as it was intended to be used, to open a new jar of salsa. I started to turn it with my hands, and ran into resistance, and began to crank up the pressure, when I remembered my new little gizmo, and knew that this was the perfect chance to actually put it to the test. Seriously helpful for up to 4" lids

I bought this gadget on a whim because I have another plastic/rubber type lid opener that tend to slip off and not always effective. This opener's design is quite simple yet effective, takes less drawer space than my other over-sized plastic one, and the metal grip doesn't slip off. When I received it I tested it quickly and shrugged it off, feeling a bit guilty that I bought yet another kitchen gadget to add to my growing collection. Then a few days ago I came across a small re-purposed minced garlic gar that I've filled with walnut oil (painting medium) a while back that glued the lid shut with a bit of dried oil. I couldn't open it and asked my husband to open it. He is exceptionally strong and when he couldn't open it, I thought I had to throw it away. Then I remembered this opener and gave it a shot, and with a bit of struggle, I was able to open the sealed jar! Even my husband was impressed! If this little opener can open that sealed jar, it can open any gar between 1-4" lid.

I was scepticle about ordering this. I've bought a few lid openers in the past few months and none have helped me with larger sizes. I have severe arthritis in my fingers and have a terrible time to open jars and there is no one else here I can ask to help me. This jar opener actually opened the lid I have the hardest problem with. I've tried it on several jars now and it works each time. I did have a little trouble getting it to attach to the jar until I realized I was doing it wrong. It's actually easy to work. Since it is small it stores easily too.

Has worked every time thus far.

I use this gadget more often than expected. I find sitting the "teeth" on the lid a little tricky and I believe twisting in the opposite direction is what is confusing me but it works and only takes seconds to figure out. Regardless how tight the seal, this jar opener has not failed in opening a jar thus far. Happy to have it!

Very good quality

I have needed a jar opener for a long while now> I was worried about quality and remember my Mom had one like this 40 years ago that worked well and was very durable. I ordered based on the positive reviews and was not disappointed! This is very durable and helped me open a wide mouth salsa jar the 1st night I owned it. Very happy with purchase and so much easier to use than the electric ones.

Simple - works!

This replaced my dead RoboTwist battery-operated lid remover, which I loved, but I expected more than a year's sporadic use from it. I have arthritis in my hands and the simplest cap gives me trouble. This arrived in time to open a salad dressing container and a jar of jam. It seems a bit counter-intuitive, but I was surprised at how little effort it takes. I actually thought it wasn't working, removed it from the container and found the lid was loosened - on both the jam and dressing jars. It's mechanical so no batteries - a plus. I gave it 5 stars on durability, but time will tell and I will revisit if warranted. So far, I'm liking it.

This works GREAT!!!

This jar opener works pretty well. It expands to fit larger jars. The metal clamps tighten as you twist the top/handle . It takes a little bit to twist it, but it’s still a bit easier than trying to pop the lid with a butter knife. I was surprised it worked. It doesn’t look like much just out of the box. EDIT----I've had this a while now (4 months). It has been working like a dream! Great on plastic twist on lids, too (depending on the shape of the plastic lid--but so far, it's worked on all!). Now that I know how it works, it's easy and quick and takes very little strength. I LOVE it and will buy for friends!

Totally Buy Worthy

Love - love - love this kitchen tool. I don’t have arthritis but I don’t have the hand strength to open a lot of containers. This tool makes it possible for me to independently open ANY size container from a pickle jar to a bottle of olive oil.

If you got a broken shoulder I highly recommend this

Worked like a charm after I figure couple things out. I have a broken shoulder and this creates a bit of a problem opening jars and other things. I was craving olives But I couldn't get the Lid to budge. I'm usually the one that people ask to open jars. I open the box and went to open it. I discovered that I couldn't open it with my right-hand. I wasn't sure if my broken left when would have the strength to open the jar but I switched hands and it opened like a breeze with no strain on the broken proximal humorous. I couldn't even tell I was trying to open the lid.Well worth the price for the ease.

Great Jar Opener

I bought this jar opener because I can hardly close my hand and often suffer when trying to open jars. I read the reviews and saw that so many people gave this item an excellent review.
