I needed some more batteries for my Dewalt tools. I calculated the cost per amp-hour of the various batteries available on Amazon at the time (all of which were better than from local hardware stores). My calculation ONLY included the batteries even if there were other items (such as in this case). And, to my surprise, this was the best (i.e., lowest cost per amp-hour) and you also get a charger and a carrying case. That's what I call a great deal. The carrying case is every bit as good as the one I got when I bought my drill. And the charger charges faster than the one I had. So, super good deal. Prices may have changed since I ordered, so I urge you to do your own current calculation.

For those of you who are reading the reviews with less than five stars, I just want to let you know that this is the real deal. These are packaged in DeWalt factory packaging, these are not knockoffs. Those who say they don't fit the tools like the original batteries, need to realize that putting a new battery on an old tool is not going to fit the same as an old battery on an old tool. Also, those who say they don't fit right in the chargers, need to realize that these batteries are designed to snap into the chargers. Not snapping them into the charger will cause the indicator light to show a false full charge. Trust the DeWalt quality, you won't be disappointed.

I'll admit, after reading some of the reviews I had some hesitations. But, knowing I could always return the product or at minimum, exchange it, I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Additionally, DEWALT offers a 1 year, normal wear and tear repair policy and should you not, for whatever reason, utilize the product within the first year, you have an additional 2 years of warranty coverage for product defects (at least for the batteries, I'm not sure on the charger, I'd guess that only has the one year coverage). The product did give me a slight scare at first. I opened the package, plugged it in and quickly realized there is no indicator light letting me know the charging unit has power. Then I got to thinking, do any of my DEWALT chargers do that? So I checked my other 20v charger, and realized it too does not show any signs, without a battery attached, that the charging unit has power. Bullet dodged. I then placed a battery on the charger (new)...nothing. Crap. But then I remembered reading another review on here about how the chargers work if you correctly place the battery on the unit. Usually I'm pretty confident when it comes to charging devices and thought "surely I didn't screw up putting a battery on a charger, I've done countless DIY jobs that would qualify as over-worked but adequate and had to charge many a battery." But just to be sure, I applied some pressure to the battery and the light started pulsating, indicating a charge was happening. I did the math in my head (60-90 minute charge, uh, maybe, well, no. Not gonna happen), and decided that wouldn't work for me. I also dropped the battery on my other charger (DCB107) that I got with my 1.5Ah batteries as part of 20v Cordless Drill(DCD777)/Impact Driver(DCF787) set (Driver is great, drill is great for typical use, lacking when it comes to metal pipes or stone/concrete, though I don't think that was the design intent. So, it does exactly what I expect it to.). That charger began going to work immediately, though I wouldn't recommend using it to charge the 5Ah batteries, it got hot in a hurry. But I did notice that the batteries seemed to slide deeper into the charging holster. So, I went back to my previously misunderstood charger and put the battery back in. Again, nothing, Apply pressure and I get blinking. I then, fearing destruction of my previously mentioned warranty and return policy, pushed the battery downward, in line with the track, and after amount of pressure I would equate to the braking of a popsicle stick, battery slid down further with an auditory, secondary, "click". And this resolved the issue. I then put the second battery on, and it slid in without the "click", and began charging. I'm not sure if the metal prongs have to be aligned or what, but I do know that after I applied that pressure the first time, I have not had to do it since and the batteries charge just fine. If anything changes, I'll update this review. But overall, I'm happy with the purchase and won't hesitate to purchase again in the future.

I went through 4 Ridgid Heat Guns with each failing as little as 2 days to three weeks. I contacted them and discussed that they might have a product defect they didn't want to hear it .I wanted to love that heat gun, but it is horrible and I own my own Marine Business and am an ABYC Certified Master Tech and Certified in Marine Electrical, Marine Corrosion and Marine Systems. A cordless heat gun is a one of those tools that allows me to carry less gear, no more extension cords, adapters for shore power and GCFI adapter. I tried the Milwakee, but it doesn't have the lock on feature that Ridgid does and this one does. The ridgid one burns a little too hot too. I saw another electrician's review and it was really spot on. I have had this now for about a month and I love this thing I keep three batteries and two chargers. However I have never gone through more than two batteries in a day and I heat shrink every connection I make so I put it through its paces. This one is rock and roll solid and love it. Perfect heat, love the ergonomics and the locking feature. This is a champ. You will not be disappointed.

Sorry but I have to revise this review again. I was use to the 18 volt battery and charger where you just drop the battery down into the charger. I decided to try and charge the dead battery again and when I put the battery on the charger and went to move it the battery slipped out of the charger. When I reinstalled the battery I pushed the battery a littler harder and it snapped in. Soooo I checked it the next day and it worked. I bet others that complained made the same mistake as I did. I cancelled my return request.

My lawn mower is a battery hog and came with the required 2 batteries & only one charger. This package group gives me the needed second pair of batteries, second charger to do both at once & a convenient storage bag. I can't answer to the battery life or how long they will last but they solved my problem of now being able to mow both the front and back lawn with out waiting for a re-charge.

These batteries are awesome. No matter if you are Simone doing an occasional project or a seasoned carpenter, having the right tool makes all the difference, and having a battery that lasts long enough to do the job is just as good. These batteries will get you started and finished on whatever you're working on with little to no wait time for charging. Great purchase. Would buy again.

Saw several reviews complaining about the the charger never charging the batteries. If you see a solid red light, you probably did not connect the battery correctly to the charger. charged the first battery without issue and seated the second battery wrong on the first try. Second try seated it correctly. I like the capacity of the batteries and have had not problems. The bag is great for accessories and a small tool.

I had some of the smaller dewalt batteries that come with the drills. My new dewalt circular saw was eating those things up faster than I could charge them. I’m only using these at home, not on a construction site, but these things are a must have for any of the 20v saws! I still can’t believe how much power they hold! One star off just because I’m bitter about how expensive batteries are for any cordless tool these days. Would recommend and would buy again!

I bought this set to go with my Dewalt cordless chainsaw. The price is very good, considering that you get a charger and a bag to boot. These 5ah batteries keep my saw running for a long time. They also work well in my cordless miter saw. They are heavier than the small batteries, but that is a minor inconvenience compared to their run time.
