The Carboy arrived early! Perfect timeing! I am in the middle of fermenting second stage. The Carboy is top quality; the glass is thick and the carboy is hefty, I anticipate my beer will be even better than using plastics.

Solid

I only use this for water in my van with a battery pump. It's great solid glass but I can still carry it to fill it up and replace it back in my van. Healthy alternative to plastic

Big and Beautiful

Love this beastly thing! It’s very thick glass and feels like great quality. Makes me feel like a real winemaker lol. It is a total pain to clean because it’s so big, but like that’s kind of a given. Either way, it does what I bought it for: ferments 4.5 gallons of wine at a time. Also you need a 6.5 rubber stopper since it’s not included.

Great for storing wine long term.

I wanted to stop using plastics to hold my drinking water. I bought three then just reordered a fourth. They are so pretty. It really makes a difference in how water tastes!! I just received a new bottle and it was chipped. No problem so far in returning it to replace it. I’ll keep you posted

Good company to buy from

Mine showed up with a manufacturer flaw/crack...so why the 5 stars? Northern Brewer made it right with no fuss. It means a lot when a company stands behind their product. The replacement is great and for the price cant be beat!

Great Quality

It has nice thick glass. I'll recommend the Bottle Hauler (it's on Amazon as well) to carry this since it is so durable. Make sure to get the right size for your container.

It's been fine; about other reviews...

I brew beer and wine. I've had this carboy for about a year now and it has been just fine with no problems. I've read several reviews about the carboy and worried about glass being shipped. If I bought this again, I probably would still worry a bit, but I inspect the glass as best as I can and can send it back if it comes damaged. I have thoughts on some reviews that discouraged me at first about buying this. For reviews where the carboy broke around the base and the bottom feel out...I suppose that could happen with faulty glass. I will say that fracturing around the base like that is iconic of pouring hot liquid into a glass or ceramic vessel. It can hairline fracture the carboy and hold liquid until you go to pick up the carboy...then the base falls out. I don't assume everyone is trying to get a refund by giving bad reviews when they made the mistake, but I see a pattern and wouldn't be surprised by customer behavior. People will try anything these days. The point is, those negative reviews could be misleading to you. If you're still worried, then buy a carboy directly from the northern brewer...special when there are sales. You'll get it for about the same price and no worries with shipping, quality, or probkems with returns.

wine, here we come...

well packaged and works like a charm. bought this for $30something. i'm not sure i'd pay much more than that of course, but it works fine and accepts standard neck/mouth accessories when many out there are odd sizes and do not.
