Makes fantastic fine snow quickly

This thing is great! I had a Snoopy Snow Cone Maker when I was a kid. It was hard work and left blisters on your hands. I promised myself that someday I would buy a better one. I started researching snow cone makers on Amazon and reading the ratings. Many reviews of other products said that they made small bits of ice, but didn't shave it, and that the flavoring would not get absorbed. It would just drip down to the bottom of the bowl. Other products seemed to grow mold if they weren't cleaned thoroughly after each use, or they took too long to make even one snow cone. I wanted something that would make really fine snow and also work quickly so that our whole family could have snow cones and eat at the same time. This one is fantastic and well worth the money. It shaves ice very quickly. It can make many snow cones in a minute or two. It's easy to use and easy to clean. It's exactly what I was looking for. It's easy to dry out, as well, because I don't want to worry about mold. Also, I had to contact customer service regarding a shipping issue and they replied quickly, and were nice and polite and tried to resolve my issue. My comment to them was that I had not known that this product required me to be present when it arrived. The delivery driver needed my signature upon receipt. Be prepared that you will need to have someone at the delivery address to sign to acknowledge delivery. So you'll need to keep an eye on the tracking.

LIGHT YEARS ahead of the others

I'm a huge shaved ice/snowcone fan - and usually, spend way too much money at Bahama Bucks. I had purchased a number of years back a less expensive shaved ice machine (like the many ~$40 ones here on Amazon) and was never happy - although they kind of worked, they were slow and labor intensive to get anything resembling the right fluffy texture. This machine can't even be compared to those - it's in a league of its own. I can't believe how unbelievably FAST this thing is - grab some ice from the fridge and in 3-5 seconds I have a perfect snowcone!! The included flavors taste great, but its just enough to taste them (maybe 2 snowcones per jar). I was worried that this product had so many five-star reviews that it must be fake, but oh-my-goodness I get it - this product really is that good. I'm SO GLAD I bought it and would do it again in a second. My personal flavor favorite - mix some of the blue raspberry syrup with the pina colada syrup for a really awesome taste. Buy it, you won't regret it.

Exceptional Value for the Price

This was absolutely the best gift my 15-year-old son received for Christmas! My family loves Hawaiian Shaved Ice and if you are familiar with it, you know shaved ice is not cheap. This machine was more expensive than other machines available for home use, but definitely worth every penny. Not only is the ice shaved to perfection, you do not have to purchase special blocks of ice to use it. Regular ice cubes will work in this machine! Several small bottles of flavored syrup came with the Little Snowie 2 machine, but I recommend you also purchase the Hawaiian Shaved Ice 10 Flavor Syrup Package so you have enough to enjoy this delight regularly. The machine is durable and quick; it arrived early and was packed like precious cargo. I am seriously thinking of purchasing another one to take to work! I highly recommend this product to all!

Perfect SHAVE ICE - Great Product.

Excellent Shave Ice! This is a great machine that provides real fluffy snow-like ice, not chunky snow cone type ice. What we like: - Safety. Designed to protect fingers. - Size. Convenient for home use and storage. The handle makes it easy to carry around. - Self-contained. No loose pieces - Shaver is ideal, as opposed to other products that grind or chop ice. - Samples! It came with wonderful samples of flavors that can be ordered. - Hopper for ice is reasonable in size. The fact that you can use ice from the freezer makes this ideal. - Fast! It makes a cup of Shave Ice really fast. - Not messy. What we think would make it better: - Quieter. It's loud. Probably can't be helped. - Would be nice if it came with a couple of cups that demonstrate appropriate size for machine. We really like the Little Snowie. We used Little Snowie 2 at our granddaughters birthday party. It was a huge hit. I love to have a Shave Ice every evening. It's a must have If you want Shave Ice. We've had a different machine, don't buy another brand, buy Little Snowie!! You won't regret it.

I love this little work horse!

I love this little work horse! I own a small shaved ice business and this little Snowie gets the job done! Smooth, soft, consistent shaved ice each time. I used it at an event with over 2,000 in attendance and my company served nearly 500; this little machine grind through ice like it was nothing! I love this product for everything that it boasts, unique design, powerful motor, easy-carry handle, dome ice shaper! Excellent shaver!

This shaver works wonderfully! I had a long road to get to this shaver, so I've included my experience below for anyone who is as obsessive as I am about shaved ice. The short version is that this shaver isn't absolutely perfect but for home use it's the best option I've seen under $800. I don't think most people really need an ice shaver at home, but if you are going to get one then this is a good choice. I am completely satisfied with my decision to purchase it. Why this shaver: I originally purchased a large block ice shaver from another manufacturer. It looked like a large blue drill press that was slightly modified to shave ice. That machine arrived dirty and a swab test of the shaver plate tested positive for lead. I wanted something that was safer and that's what lead me to the Little Snowie 2. While the Little Snowie 2 is made in China, the build quality is excellent and (as far as I can tell) everything about it is food grade. Additionally, when I contacted the Snowie through their web site, they were very responsive and helpful. I had a lot of confidence buying their product. The ice quality: Cube shavers don't produce ice as fine as block shavers, but this comes pretty close. I emailed the company prior to purchasing and was told this (paraphrased): 'On a scale of 1 to 100, with 1 being the old crushed ice shavers and 100 being a block ice shaver, this is an 85.' I would say that is an accurate description. The vast majority of the ice this produces is powdery perfection, with a few little flakes mixed in. They aren't enough to take away from the quality of the snow ball. Product description: The shaver is about the size of a coffee pot and fits well on a counter. It is very well designed. I was initially concerned because it's smaller and lighter than I'd expect for the amount I paid, but my concerns vanished after I used it the first time. The build quality is excellent and the ice it produces is wonderful. The low size and weight are a good thing. It is quite loud from the ice bouncing around as it shaves, so I'd recommend ear plugs. Replacement blades are available and the manufacturer told me that the blade is good for about 1000 cones. Thoughts on use: It will take a little while to figure out how to make the best ice. In general, using ice cubes that are larger, rounder, and colder will give you a better product. I use bagged cubes and they work great. Syrups with more sugar produce a smoother product. If your syrup is too watery or too warm, it will melt and refreeze the snow. Once you get your technique down, you can start reducing the sugar content if desired. I can now use syrup that is more than 3 parts water to 1 part sugar and get good results. Find the right cup and spoon. If you use warm glass cups and metal spoons, the ice will melt on contact.

Good product and company

I bought this ice shaver as a present for my kids (and myself). I got this machine because of the convenience of using normal ice cubes rather than making a special block. Also, I work in a kitchen and use a commercial machine that works very similarly to this machine. That machine is absolutely awesome, you can power through 20# of ice within a couple of minutes or so. This is like a compact, portable version of that commercial machine. My kids were super excited to get this on Christmas, and we immediately put it to the test. We put in our ice cubes, and within seconds we had a bowl of shave ice. It was very good and refreshing, and the included syrups were pretty good. It was my first time to have "tigers blood" flavor, which I haven't seen here in Hawai'i. It's not too bad, though I prefer plain old strawberry. Although the shave ice we made was good, there were a little small chunks of ice which made it more of a crunchy type shave ice. It reminded me of the shave ice we used to have when I was a kid, so not bad at all. I contacted the company to ask about this, and they sent me out a new blade. After switching out the blade, I now have super fluffy shave ice with (almost) no ice. It is just as good as a lot of the shave ice stores out there in Honolulu. So basically, I love this because it is compact, it uses regular ice cubes, it is very fast, and most importantly it makes excellent shave ice. Also the company stands behind their product and is more than willing to assist you in getting the best out of your machine.

Best machine ! Works just as good as big machines! Worth every penny!

This is the first review I have ever written . This little machine is awesome. I pulled up to the talent show at my kids school and the moms were like that thing is going to make a bunch on shaved ice???? And it did. It made about 50 cups. It was over a few hours but it kept going . A few times the ice got stuck but it was an easy fix. Its small and super easy to use. Sooooo glad I did my research and bought this one! This company is serious about snow cones and shaved ice.

Got syrup?

I waited and waited for an Amazon Lighting deal which appeared this past Saturday afternoon for $168. By Tuesday the Snowie was delivered. That night I unboxed and lifted the machine with the rear carry handle, one of the best design features. There are no other pieces to mess with. We made 3 shaved ice cones for the kids and spouse. (Rated G ones for the kids and an alcoholic strawberry margarita one for the adult.) It's so easy to throw in a bowl full of ice cubes and make shaved ice. The machine is quite loud. The shaving mechanism is a ~2" high medal cylinder with multiple slots that spin at high RPMs to deliver the fine ice shavings and occasional icy bits though the slots. The machine fills up an 8oz cup in a few seconds. Rotating the cup around a few more seconds will make a nice round dome with the clear plastic shaping dome. This also prevents errant discharge of snow. The snow texture is nice and fluffy. However the texture not to the same level as the shaved ice shops in Hawaii made from commercial block shavers. Most of the ice is a fluffy snow texture but intermixed with small bits of ice. But the texture is far better then the $30 model we had before, where everything coming out are 3mm bits of ice. There are 3 dislikes with this machine. The cover is also the switch. Press the cover closed and the motor cranks. Let go, and the cover springs back up with a 1" gap above the ice hopper which allows warm air to melt the ice. A closed cover will keep ice dry and colder in the hot summer. The other issue is the gap in the machine housing. The machine plastic housing is molded in 2 pieces and butted together with very small bolts & nuts. There is a very clearly visible 1-1.5mm gap in the seam around the whole machine. I wish the casing was fully interlaced to leave no gaps especially in the hopper to prevent leakage. The most problematic issue is any melting water runs out of the blade enclosure and down the plastic dome and down the front of the machine. There is no way to put a cup or bowl under the edge of the dome to catch dripping water. Their $40 drip tray will not help either. Over time, I wonder if the dripping water will uplift the product decal. That would be a shame. There's a coupon code for 3 pints of 'free flavoring' however the shipping actually cost more the flavoring itself. Nevertheless, I'm sure this will be well used this year's parties and I'm sure I'll break even by mid summer. Today at my kids school, a local shaved ice truck made their monthly stop. I saw that they use a commercial Snowie machine. I can't believe the $6 per order. Now I feel even better about my purchase of the Snowie 2. Got syrup?
