I wanted a fast stove for heating shower water on car camping trips. With a Jetboil 5L heat exchanger pot, this thing will boil 2 liters of water in a little over 5 minutes. Occasionally I also use it with a 20 liter pot, which fits nicely on the stove, and benefits from all the BTU's this puts out. Not only is this combination very fast, it's also very efficient. I've been using the same little propane bottle for 4 weekends of camping. It comes with a sturdy plastic case. The only thing I don't like is that the hose could fit more easily in the butane bottle compartment, although it fits easily under the grill. This is a big stove, so make sure you pay attention to the dimensions before buying.

I received my Gas One 3900P a few days ahead schedule, when I opened the package everthing was there,The LP hose had been placed in the area for the Butane Canister and bent the cover some but was easley push back in shape.I received my Butane canisters approximately a week later..I placed one in the butane canister in the holder and it lit on the first try. I would recommend to anyone for camping or when there is a power outaged.

This is, by far, the best small gas stove I've tried. I'm using it indoors it's so good, but you can also use it camping, of course. The Bad: As others have indicated, the carrying case is kind of cheap. The enamel processing for the unit is poor, and you can expect some areas were it could be chipped. If you live in a high-humidity area, over time this could cause rusting. The cover for the fuel seems flimsy, including the hinges. I wouldn't be surprised if it could break off pretty easily The good: There is also PLENTY of heat with this unit on high, making it really comparable to professional gas stoves. This is completely different then most units for camping which then to produce no more than 2/3rds this heat level. The burner element is perfect--and quite attractive in mirrored brass--and produces an even double-ringed flame that spreads out well. The ignitor is very good - always starting with a single click for me. The flame can be finely adjusted (unlike many other units which seem to have two settings - full blast and wimpy) The unit is lightweight but sturdy enough to handle a heavy 11" pot. There is a very good wind guard around the burner. One can use either propane or butane, although the case actually supports butane more elegantly (for standard 1-pound propane tanks, you'll need to use their hose unless you get fittings yourself) So overall I really like the unit. Yes, there are some bad things, but hey, this isn't exactly super expensive. I'm not going to hold it up to the standards of a professional stove costing ten times as much as a result. In fact I don't think any of the less-than-perfect aspects deserves a full star being taken away, so I'm leaving it at 5 stars.

My wife greatly prefers cooking on an electric range, so that's what we have in the kitchen. I, on the other hand, was raised on gas and find electric insufficiently responsive. So when I really need gas for the instant control it allows, I pull out this item. I am using one-pound propane bottles to fuel it. The unit provides plenty of heat and is solidly constructed. It lights instantly, and allows a very wide and sensitively variable range of flame size. The pot support lifts away for easy cleaning, and will support plenty of weight. I have never tried to use a butane cartridge in the unit. Yes, I use this burner indoors on a counter top and can't think why not. The manufacturer/distributor's advice not to use it indoors is, I think, simply a device to try to limit liability if some user does something foolish. Heck, if it wasn't silly to do so, I'm sure they would advise never fueling it up or turning it on at all. Then, no matter what happens, they could say they advised against that use. Two things to be aware of, and which I wish were different: 1. The rotary control works backward from what I am accustomed to. Most controls raise the heat or flame level with a clockwise turn; this reduces it, so you start by a counterclockwise turn to ignite the gas, and shut it down clockwise. Not a real big deal, but not intuitive, either. 2. The control does not have a positive click stop in the shut down position. I have some concern that a relatively slight accidental contact might open the valve slightly from its closed position, allowing fuel to leak so slowly it wouldn't be noticed. I am thinking of trying to make some modification to the unit to make that off position more secure. Until I can do that, I feel forced to disconnect the fuel bottle every time I am finished using the burner, which is something of a nuisance. On the whole, however, I am very pleased with the burner.

Wow! I purchased this for a small utility trailer I’ve made into a tiny camper. I also purchased the butane cylinders although I already had propane cylinders. I mean, it lit just like advertised so smooth it almost frightened me! The next day we had a power outage and I was able to use it for one-pot cooking. I just love this little stove! So glad I bought it.

Ordered the GS-3900P as back up source of cooking in case of a hurricane or power outage in the Tampa area of Florida. Since I have all electric appliances & no patio or gas grill this was a great option. I received the grill within two days & went to Walmart to purchase some Coleman propane 1 lb tanks for 2 for $6.34, a pretty good price. I also ordered 4 Gas One butane cylinders from Amazon. I also ordered a Farberware percolator coffee maker which worked great with the propane tank. It seems that the Gas One grill/burner is a great buy & really works well. Hopefully I don't have to use it in an emergency, but if I do I know it will work. I highly recommend this grill/burner, you won't have any problems setting it up or getting it to work.

GAS ONE GS-3900P This is my first stove that uses butane. The stove ignited first time and every time using the piezo ignition during testing with butane and propane using both 1lb bottle and 20lb tank, the stove certainly puts out the heat (for cooking), very simple to operate and relatively lightweight. I have tested the stove with a Lodge 12" Cast Iron Skillet L10SK3ASH41B without causing overheat issues with the butane canisters. The 12" lodge skillet tapers enough at the bottom allowing the skillet to fits in between the risers on the burner grate to help keep the skillet from easily sliding off (not by design it just worked out that way) The only issue and not really an issue just annoying is with the case, it was cracked when pulling from the manufacture packaging, the packaging wasn't damaged leaving me to think it came from the factory that way as shown in the picture, I'm not deducting any stars given the stove works better than I expected and found no issues with the stove and that's what matters, just be aware, the case is cheap and won't take any kind of abuse.

I've had this burner for just a few days, but I've already put it to plenty of good use, cooking three meals and seasoning a new carbon steel wok. I got it as an intermediate step before deciding whether to upgrade my whole kitchen to gas, and I love it. Things I like: - Incredible power output. Gets a wok screaming hot in seconds, and sears a frying pan full of pork chops effortlessly. - Good fuel economy. Seasoning the wok took a couple hours on high, while the meals required an average of 30 minutes each on medium heat, and I used just over one standard can of butane. I haven't done much with propane yet, but I expect similar economy there as well. - Nice size. I haven't compared directly, but this seems a little bigger than the 7500-BTU specials they sell at the grocery store for $20. It has plenty of room for a 13-inch wok without overhanging the butane compartment and blowing up my kitchen. I appreciate my kitchen not being blown up. - Seems safe to use indoors. There's a little controversy about this, I know, but from my observation the butane is burning cleanly, and I leave a window cracked just in case. Because of this, it can be treated as an extension of the kitchen, rather than an outdoor appliance like a barbecue. - Lights easily. The piezo igniter has performed perfectly so far. Things that could be improved: - The construction is a little cheap. Everything works and feels stable while cooking, but the overall effect of all that thin metal is rattly. The plastic carrying case is also cheaply made, but it does the job for now. - The heat control knob only has about 1/4 turn between max and off. It's smooth and still gives you a surprising amount of control, but it would be easier with more range of adjustment. - Screwing the propane hose onto the (proprietary?) fittings is a bit fiddly. Given the cheap source of butane I've discovered - about a buck a can at the Asian supermarket where I got my wok - I doubt I'll use the propane function except when camping, or possibly for boiling a big pot of crabs outside. Bottom line, I am really glad I bought this stove. Its capabilities and features are a great addition to my kitchen, and the drawbacks are relatively minor.

I got a GS-3900P because I wanted a smaller propane camp stove than my generic 2x burner "classic" style stove This works at least as well as my generic 2x burner, and is 1/2 the size and weight, so I no longer have to take a full size 6ft folding table when it's just myself camping - now I can get by taking a small metal folding table that is also significantly lighter I think this is a great balance between a 2x burner "classic" style and the tiny little pocket iso/butane stoves where fuel is much more difficult to find I will be ordering some butane canisters to try cooking with that next since the propane adapter/hose and propane canister on the size does increase the footprint of this stove, but again I think it is well worth having the "dual fuel" version since iso/butane and butane are not nearly as common as propane

I spent much time (too much) trying to purchase a sensible camp stove. I even purchased two and returned. Here are the problem with camping stoves these days: - two burner stoves, even the expensive once (over $100) are rather unpractical. Burners are too close together so mostly you can use one burner anyway. At the same time they take too much space when storing. Who needs two burners on a campground anyway? You are paying extra for the second burner that you will never use - single burner stoves are cheap and very cheaply made. They all lack wind screen. They cannot handle weight. They are not portable enough. Often they have a burner with 2 settings - high and super high. They may be very unstable. Or all combined. This stoves solves all the issues. With a simple additional hose I was able to connect it to a 1 gal refillable propane tank - the same hose I use for the buddy heater in my little camper. The windscreen works superbly. The flame control is pro-kitchen quality. It is lightweight but strong enough to support my very heavy cast iron wok with full of food - the wok on its own is about 14 lb. The carrying case it comes with is of a decent (but not great) quality and it has extra room to fit the hose in and the wind screen. The piezo igniter works each time. I am very pleased with this purchase.
